Naruto wiped the last few tears from his eyes as he sniffled. Sitting behind the trash can in the alley, he opened his eyes again to the System.
Naruto-Oji, I wish to help you as much as I can. To do that, I will require you to complete a small tutorial. To start, simply say or think ‘Status’!

“Oh, hey that’s me!” Naruto’s smile is mirrored on the window besides his name and above his Stats. Blue eyes slowly wandered down to his stats, he reached out to the words and was rewarded with a small pop up showing up for each stat.
Strength- The power behind your arms and legs, measures how much you can lift and carry as well as how much power you pack behind your attacks.
Senses- How well you perceive the world, shows how well and far you can see, smell and hear. Useful when you want to detect enemies and allies.
Vitality- The strength of your life force, how well you can get take being pushed down and still get back up again.
Charm- Your way with words, helps you convince others peacefully and get better deals when negotiating. Can also help you connect to others and be their special person.
Intelligence- One’s mind is a terrible thing to waste, this stat shows how well your brain can work through logic and memorize information without the system’s help.
Wisdom- Common sense is not as common as you might hope. Wisdom helps you make connections and clever plans.
Agility- The greater your agility, the faster you can run, the higher you can jump, and the deeper you can stretch.
Dexterity- Nimble fingers are a shinobi’s best tools, high Dexterity can speed up your Hand Sign speed, aid you in crafting tools with your hands, and makes you better with the many tools of the ninja trade; kunai and shrunken included.
Luck- Born under a lucky or misfortunate star, you would be surprised how much Luck effects, too many to describe.
Naruto giggled as he absorbed the meaning of the stats and being their icons, but the blond’s smile dropped as he noticed; “Hey! Why are my stats so low!”
Not creating a new window, the Conditions section of the blond’s status began to flash a negative red until Naruto clicked on it.
Conditions:
Starving: The player is currently starving, they have no food in their system! Until this Conditions is healed, all stats besides Luck will be cut by half! To cure condition, get some food into your belly!
Dirty: Player is covered in filth and garbage! Your looks (and smell) are being affected by this filth to reduce your Charm stat to 10%! To cure this condition, get cleaned up and take a bath!
Naruto grimaced at the Conditions before taking the collar of his shirt to his nose and sniffing, “BLEAH! That reeks!” Letting go of his collar, the blond instead used his hand to better cover his nose from the smell he could no longer ignore. In his squirming to avoid the scent of his own body, Naruto managed to knock over the trash can he was hiding behind, can and lid clattering to the alley floor.
A new screen loudly announced itself, appearing over Naruto’s face
Oji-sama! I understand this is a lot for your mind to take but I ask you trust me when I say that you are in danger!
This system is able to access your mind and memories, so I know how the Old Matron at the Orphanage threw you out onto the street during last night’s storm.
You will soon be in danger, as the Matron indulged in sake until the late night, but soon she will wake and most likely spread news about you no longer being protected from the rest of the village!
“Wh-what? Why does the village hate me?” Naruto was now back to almost crying as he remembered the cruel treatment he alone received whenever he went out with the rest of the orphans. He remembered the way they’d look at him with eyes filled with hate before something would scare them off.
I apologize Naruto-Oji, in time I swear to provide all the answers I can but your safety is the most important priority right now. First, we will head out into the forest to avoid the bulk of the civilians in the village. To get past them, I will use my power to grant you a blessing.
Quest Complete! Basic Tutorial! Dispensing Reward now!
From the overturned trash can, a dirty wrapper began to glow and floated in front of Naruto’s amazed face. As the blond watches, slack-jawed, the crumpled paper being to flatten. The dirt and ink of the wrapper melts and rearranges itself into, some kind of squiggles.
Inside Naruto’s inner world, the System flashes hand signs before releasing its technique, ‘Uzushio-Style! Notice-Me-Not Seal!’
Back outside, the wrapper, now a seal, began to fold in on itself. It fashioned itself into a paper ring, small enough to fit on the thumb of an young blond orphan.
Plucking the ring from where it floated, Naruto Immediately secured the seal paper on his thumb, he was overcome with the feeling of warmth spreading from the ring thumb to the rest of his body before looking up, “Now what?”
Now, we must run! The seal is only temporary and so you must hurry! Go as fast as you can and I will guide you!
That was all Naruto needed, leaping to his feet from the ground, he ran out of the alley. Windows with arrows would lead him.

Pushing his legs as hard as they could go, Naruto ran like his life depended on it. He got the feeling that is did. The pounding of his heart and the heaviness of his breathing was all he could hear. Anytime he bumped into a civilian, their eyes would seek him out only to slide across him questioningly, but for a split second he could feel it, their annoyance.

Almost there Naruto-Oji! Just duck behind this fence and you will make it!
Just as Naruto made his way to the mouth of the alley System told him to run through, he had to stop and take a break to catch his breathe. Panting and sweating, he held himself up with the alley wall before a burning sensation overtook his thumb. “Ow!”
Shaking his hand, Naruto saw the paper seal ring fall off and smolder into ashes on the ground, he was out of time!
“HEY!” Naruto froze up, before his neck nearly snapped twisting to see an older ninja sneering at him. Without thought, Naruto backed away from the ninja, hoping to disappear inside the alley but unwilling to take his eyes off the threat. This brought out a sneer on the shinobi’s face as he pulled out a kunai, making Naruto’s heavy breathing hitch. Eyes twitching from the kunai, to the ninja’s expression and back again, Naruto turned and ran down the alley
Thunk!
With a lazy toss, the ninja easily managed to pierce the wooden planks of the back end of the alley, making Naruto cry out and duck. Now on the ground, Naruto could see between the boards to the forest beyond, he was so close!
Grabbing the kunai and yanking it from the wall, Naruto brought his small weapon between himself and his attacker. The ninja’s smile only grew as he mockingly raised his hands up in ‘surrender.’
“Oh no~ Little Demon Brat has a weapon, he’s gonna try and kill me!”
With visible ease, the shinobi pulled out another kunai, spinning it by the handle before catching the grip in his palm, “I have to defend myself~ and maybe if the brat dies from me fending him off, the village will throw me a parade!
Breathing heavy and panicked, Naruto did the only thing he could, he pushed off from the ground, backwards! His shoulder smashed into the wooden boards and the blond clawed and crawled his way through.
“Oh no you don’t you brat!” A meaty hand gripped onto Naruto’s ankle, nearly crushing the bone before it started to pull him back through the crawlspace. This was it, the ninja was gonna kill him. No one was gonna save him. He was gonna- He was gonna- HE DOESN’T WANNA DIE!! Red, malice filled chakra flowed through Naruto’s foot as he pulled it back, and- CRACK! -snapped the ninja’s wrist holding him! The ninja shouted in pain, letting go of Naruto’s ankle as he crawled to freedom.
“DAMN BRAT! KYUBI SPAWN! JUST WAIT TILL I GET MY HANDS ON YOU, YOU LITTLE DEMO-“
Naruto had already entered the trees by that point, half running, half hopping on his injured foot as he fled, fled, fled as fast as he could into the forest. He made it!

In the Inner World
System breathed a sigh of relief as Naruto managed to escape. He was really worried when that shinobi spotted the prince just as the seal reached the limit of its low quality materials. Taking deep breathes to calm itself down, the System turned its head to the other resident of the inner World, the Kyubbi was laying on its cushion bed, pretending to be asleep, though its agitated tails flicking through the air told a different story. Knowing that a verbal thanks would be an insult ignored, the System gave the Bijuu a formal but simple bow of appreciation.
Clapping then splitting his hands, the System created a new window to watch Naruto, frowning in concern as the young prince was breathing hard in a panic attack beneath the half uncovered roots of a tree uprooted from the Uzushio-Kami’s divine storm.
‘It’s not much with my restrictions, but I need to give him a reward for making his way out of *sigh* that.’ Blinking in surprise, the System zooms in on Naruto, to his hand, where the Kunai he pulled out of the wall remains clutched in a near death grip. ‘That’ll help him out quite a lot.”
