Summary
Sasuke and Ahime are roses going through a cold season.Roses during the winter must remain dormant; But, Sasuke continued to fight and abandon his beloved during the winter, perhaps that was why his relationship stopped working.Short-term winter growth spurts can severely damage young, vulnerable shoots and stems; well, that explains why all the love that Ahime developed for Sasuke ended up destroying her, she is so young and vulnerable, she just wants to love and be loved. We can only hope that they go through this cold and painful winter and arrive alive until next spring.

"Lie to Me. Lie to me but don't leave me, Sasuke!" She pleaded in a desperate attempt to stop the shinobi's walk, his determination guiding him towards the door without looking back. "Tell me you're happy, but it disappears for days. Tell me you love me even if you spit in my face. Lie to me, don't stop doing it; pretend that we are still fine, that you will never leave me, that we love each other more than ever, even when your heart belongs to Sakura."

The cold metal of the knob brushed the Uchiha's fingers, who stopped when he heard Ahime's words. He wanted to end it all once and for all, but he couldn't do it that way, not knowing the absurd conclusions that the woman he once loved had hastily reached. Ahime looked at him prostrate on her own knees, ready to beg for a little love, even when she knew it was completely false.

"Tell me I'm a disaster, that I never listen." The stability in her voice would not last long, tears running boldly down her cheeks. "Call me by her name if that's what you want! I'll be Haruno Sakura for you!"

Sasuke stifled an annoyed growl, his thin lips tightened and then he walked away from the exit and went towards Ahime, looking at her with fury and pain; as if she had offended all the deceased of his clan, although it was worse, she had offended the deep feelings that Sasuke had developed for her over the years. He held her forearm firmly, there was no gentleness when he forced her to stand up, her legs were weak.

"Listen to me well, Ahime." Their gazes connected, the Uchiha warned her with his gaze about what was to come. "I didn't leave you for Sakura and you know it, we're both aware of it." He threw her away from him, he didn't care if that was going to leave a mark; Then he ran his hand through his hair, trying to calm himself. "You changed, you made me lose every last bit of love I felt; for a long time I have been forcing myself to stay with you. Pretending that I'm comfortable with you acting like a lunatic every time I'm around the rest of my team."

"Sakura has always been in love with you and you know it!" She came dangerously close to him, even as she watched how the Uchiha backed away, he refused to make physical contact. "Since you started seeing each other you are never at home and when you are you don't want to have me around. Sasuke, I'm your lover!"

The Uchiha shook his head as he shook the vase that was lying on the table next to the couch; Ahime was startled when pieces of glass fell at her feet. Sasuke had never done anything like that.

"How many times will I have to repeat it to you?" He was tired, he would end up giving in to Ahime's attitude. "Sakura is with Rock Lee. They are both happy, like you and I used to be before."

"We still are!" She rushed to grab him by his grayish shirt, squeezing it tightly between her desperate fists, she refused to accept reality; The words of her lover could not be sincere. "We can keep trying! You'll see, we'll be very happy with our kids running around the house, and I'll make sure I look beautiful for you every day."

Sasuke held the kunoichi's hands delicately, locking their gazes for a few brief seconds, Ahime's eyes shone with the same intensity as the first time they met; but the feeling was not the same, she knew deep inside her that she was not being true to herself. Theirs was no longer love. He pushed her away from her roughly.

"We will never be what we were again." He spat bitterly before turning around, ignoring any attempts at pleading from his former lover. "This is over forever, I don't want to see you again." No, Ahime's heart couldn't take it, all those years couldn't go away so easily, her feelings were still as strong as they were at the beginning. Sasuke didn't have the right to decide for both of them, she would never let him! "Don't look for me anymore, don't talk to anyone about me and don't keep deceiving yourself; there is nothing to save here."

Each word was like a stab to her heart, the tears continued to fall with abandon, loving hurt, but she would relive that pain a thousand and one times if it meant she could be with Sasuke every time; because her love for him was too great. The Uchiha looked at her from the corner of his eye, feeling his heart ache at the way everything had ended, but Ahime had left him no choice.

Even with his quick eyes he was not able to visualize how quickly Ahime took out a kunai from the pocket on her thigh and placed it on her own throat as a threat, the seriousness in her reddish eyes from crying scared him. No, it wasn't seriousness, it was madness, rage, exasperation. What he didn't understand is that he couldn't leave Ahime, they love each other, right? Ahime's mind couldn't fathom why Sasuke was the only one who didn't seem to understand it.

"I'm going to end my life if I can't have you!" Small crimson drops slid from her sensitive skin, she meant business. "You are mine, Sasuke! You promised to love me forever!" Her throat tore, but her sobs of pain didn't allow her to think about it. She would do whatever she could to ensure that he never left her, she would pursue him to the grave if necessary.

"Ahime." He said softly, trying as much as possible not to fix his eyes on the object that remained against the young woman's neck. He only looked her in the eyes. "Calm down, please. Let's talk..."

"No, I don't want to calm down!" The movement cut her a little more. "Tell me you love me!" She demanded, letting out a pained moan as the tip of the weapon stabbed into her neck. "Tell me that you love me and that you will never stop doing so! Tell me that this is just a cruel joke and that you will not abandon me! Tell me now!"

"Ahime..."

"Tell me, Sasuke!" She was trembling, but she was not afraid for her life, but for her future with the man she loved most. All she wanted with every fiber of her body was to hear, directly from Sasuke's lips, how much she loved her. That damn Uchiha she's been in love with all her life couldn't wipe his hands off so easily. He taught her what it means to love until it hurts, why didn't he accept his responsibility? "People say we're weird..." Sasuke's distressed face didn't make her feel better, "but they don't understand that I simply love you too much. If you think-"

"No." A searing pain stabbed Ahime's chest, everything was finally over, she felt empty, broken and painful. Sasuke, no... "Ahime, don't you understand? We cling too much to each other, we are hurting each other." He had to convince her somehow, leaving was the best, she couldn't just do something stupid to force love between them. "We cry more than we laugh, we say hurtful words to each other instead of "I love you", every time we are together we fight as if we never want to see each other again; but we'll be back the next day!"

Those words did not cause any positive effect, Ahime's lip began to tremble immeasurably. Then everything was real, Sasuke really didn't love her.

"Stop lying!" She pleaded, choking on her own cries. She loosened her grip slightly as she felt weak. "You love me and you always will! Say it once and for all!"

A last heavy sigh left the Uchiha's body.

"No Ahime, I don't love you anymore."

She wouldn't allow it, if Sasuke wanted to leave her life and disappear so easily, then she would make him regret that decision; fury immediately began to build up in her chest. He would bear the blame for having extinguished the flame of her life, Ahime would leave with the only condition of always being in the mind of his beloved.

"Fine!" She exclaimed, regaining her determination. "You don't understand, Sasuke. But without you I am nothing!"

The kunai pierced her skin and tore from side to side, separating the muscles of her neck; the blood gushed out, and knowing that it probably wouldn't be enough, she aimed straight at her chest, at her heart that hurt so much. The carpet went from beige to scarlet in just a few seconds. She collapsed right into the arms of the Uchiha, who trembled as he felt the warm scarlet liquid stain his hands; he couldn't stop her, he wasn't fast enough, he never was when it came to Ahime. Who decided to inhale for the last time the manly aroma that always characterized his lover, the Uchiha that she always loved. She really did it with all her heart, why did Sasuke stop doing it?

"You have a life ahead of you, don't let this sick love be stronger than you." His desperation took hold of him, he undid his shirt and placed it on her deep wounds; Ahime would die, she had to be treated urgently. "I-I must call Sakura."

No, she didn't want him to, even on her deathbed he couldn't stop thinking about that girl? She loved him with all her strength, with all her soul, she opened her heart to him, she accepted his pain; she was strong for him, she agreed to carry the enormous weight of making Sasuke happy no matter what, and she failed.

"N-no, Sasuk-ke..." She was able to utter. "Don't-on't... talk to her n-never..."

"Idiot, you're going to die!" Ahime felt a few salty drops fall on her forehead and cheeks. It was the first time Sasuke cried for her, and she wasn't even able to see him, her gaze was blurred. "I love you, but I don't want us to hurt each other anymore!"

He took her in his arms and quickly left for the Konoha hospital; a weak smile adorned the young woman's dying face, making her feel happy. He didn't know it, but their hearts would be connected for all eternity, they would love each other until they both died, just as they promised. Because they could be sure of one thing, and that is that a love like theirs is never forgotten.

"I-I'm already dead..." She murmured, feeling her imminent end, she doesn't know how she managed to survive for so long. "I stabbed myself in a v-vital spot." She extended her hand, wanting to touch Sasuke's face one last time, but even before touching his wet cheek, her strength left her, her hand fell hard and was suspended in the air. Ahime's eyes completely lost their shine; there was nothing but darkness in them.

Sasuke carelessly kicked into the hospital entrance, demanding immediate attention for the woman he was holding. However, it was late. Ahime had left her moments before, and with her she took Sasuke's heart, tearing it out mercilessly, reminding him how much it hurts to be alive.

All of Konoha showed up at her funeral, including that pink haired girl she hated so much; Ahime always felt like her replacement and that hurt her, but she never confessed it to Sasuke. All of her friends and acquaintances mourned her early departure, regretting that they had not been able to notice the pain she was going through. But, the worst of all was Sasuke, he was alone again. Each and every day that passed he blamed himself, he did nothing to stop her; he still loved her, why didn't he tell her that he did it? Their love was toxic, at first beautiful as a rose; and then become painful like its thorns. Ahime was a rose, which he let wither. Sasuke was one too, and before her next spring came, he decided to cut off his stem, ending his own life. In his last moments he prayed to all the gods to meet her beloved Ahime in his next life.
