Chapter 2

Vi was on a ladder out front, in her favorite Jacket despite the heat, working on renewing the fabric shading the tables outside. She had been out of Prison for almost 2 and a half months now, and she loved every second of it. most of those days were spent the same way. exploring the city she had forgotten, visiting old haunts and helping Vander in the shop. She had upgraded her little apartment, adding color and furniture though keeping it minimal. Vander had mentioned off handingly that the cover outside needed to be changed, and Vi immediately jumped to help, with the fabric Vander had laying around. Jinx was once again away to university, and with nothing much else to keep her busy she decided to take up all the maintenance jobs needed, including replacing the fabric. She was humming softly as she worked, ignoring the sun beating down on her neck, when a cop car pulled up to the curb, stopping just in front of the store. Despite the lights not going, a cold sense of dread filled Vi as she clambered down to interfere, though stopped short when a very beautiful cop stepped out. Pausing jut next to the door she watched the cop close her door and lock it before rounding the car and stepping onto the sidewalk catching sight of the Ex-convict standing close by.

"Can I help you?" She asked softly, scanning the brawler with a gaze that made Vi want to shrink back, though finally found her words. "Your not here to take anyone are you? we did nothing wrong!" Vi's outburst seemed to confuse the Policewoman more, as her eyebrows furrowed. "I'm not here to make any arrests? just to get something to eat for my break? A-Are you okay?" Vi just nodded quickly, blushing faintly before promptly turning and climbing the ladder once again to continue her job, leaving the confused woman standing there. Eventually the officer walked into the Cafe and Vi breathed a soft sigh of relief. She was thankful that she, nor Vander, were going to jail, though the sight of any Officer would probably keep her on her toes. she couldn't deny how gorgeous the woman was though, the blue complimenting her eyes very well, and the suit extenuating her body. Vi was shaken from her thoughts as said woman walked back out, holding a coffee cup in one hand, and a water bottle in the other, of which she held out to the brawler. Upon seeing Vis confused look the officer smiled faintly. "You are going to pass out if you dont get some water, It's way too hot to go without." Vi smirked and got off the ladder, taking the bottle, cracking it open and sipping greedily. "awww caring for little old me?" She just rolled her eyes faintly. "It's my job to worry about the citizens." "And whos there to worry about you hm?" Vi took the chance to step closer, into the officers space and her smirk growing wider as the officer blushes. "Um... " Vi laughed but decided to conceive, taking a few light steps away to allow the officer to breathe. "So what was that about earlier?" The question caught Vi off guard, and she immediately shut down, her relaxed face turning to a frown. "forget about it, thanks for the water.

The sudden shift in the brawler had The officer freeze, before clearing her throat. "Right, um have a good day then, Stay out of trouble." With that Caitlyn climbed back into the car and was soon off, heading towards downtown district, and leaving the brawler standing there. with a scoff Vi went back to work, Finishing just as the sun started to set and once putting all the stuff away she walked in, to see Vander behind the counter smirking like he knew something. "What old man?" Vi said as she flipped the sign to closed and locks the door. "I saw you talking with the officer earlier.." Vi groaned as Vander started shaking her head. "Vander dont." "You like her dont ya?" "Vanderrrrrr" "What? I can't tease my oldest daughter?" "Nothing was going on, I was just talking with her." Vander chuckled faintly before he continued wiping down the counter. Vi wiped down the Tables, flipping the chairs to prepare to sweep, as a moment of quiet rested over them. "seriously though Kid, you okay?" Vander asked softly, watching Vi work. "Yes im fine old man."

The next morning Vi shot up again, heavy breathing and eyes darting around her small apartment. no inmates here to kill her, no Officers coming to 'talk', she was safe, she was fine. Taking a deep breathe to steady herself she finally registered the soft pattering of rain on her window. She had forgotten what the rain even sounded like, being kept in the deepest darkest cell for most of her sentence, and even when she wasn't the rain wouldn't be heard over fights or talking. She smiled faintly, the relaxing pattering of the rain relaxing her more than she realized. when she got downstairs she found the shop still closed, and Vander was humming softly in the kitchen. "Good morning Vi, we are closed today so feel free to go exploring some more." and get some clothes too." Vi just nodded, and accepted the umbrella that Vander handed her before she left heading towards downtown. Most people who were out were either kids heading towards school, or people walking to work, the rain keeping most of the population indoors. she roamed the quiet streets for abit, before trouble yet again found her.

Hands grabbed the back of her shirt and pulled her back into a alleyway, her back and head slamming into the bricks of a building hard enough to make her dizzy. She felt two pairs of hands all but pinning herself against the wall, and that snapped her out of it, immediately trying to get herself free. "What the fu- Let me go!" "well well... the stray has come home." She froze immediately recognizing the voice as Deckard. A regular childhood bully in school, loved to pick on the younger kids, and especially Vi's wonder of a little sister. He regular picked fights with Vi, though he was older and fought dirty often ending in both getting bet up pretty well. SHe turned and smiled as he stepped out. He looked the same as he did when they were kids. Scruffy blonde hair everywhere, and skinny body. "What do you want deckard." She growled out, glaring hard at the boy. His easygoing smile stayed as he walked closer. "What? no hello to a old friend? no wondering what's been going on?" Vi scoffed and attempted to break free again, before she was slammed against the wall again. "Not for you you asshole." His easygoing smile dropped into a heavy glare. "You've caused me a lot of trouble when we were younger, now its my turn to repay the favor."

Vi wasn't prepared for the hard punch to her sternum, leaving her breathless as another to her gut had her bend over as much as the guys pinning her allowed her to before they pushed her back up against the wall, as more and more punches rained on her, and she bit her lip hard to not show any signs of it being painful, leaning fro the prison that the inflictor will get bored and eventually leave. and that proved true as after a few more punches He stepped back. He scoffed as his lackeys let go of the brawler, sending her tumbling to the ground with a soft wheeze. "Things have changed. Your no longer the big Guy on campus." Was the last thing he said before he walked away, his friends laughing and complimenting him over his 'easy' victory. Vi took a deep breath trying to get air back and get to her feet when footsteps approached and a familiar voice rang out.

"Are you okay?"
