Chapter 6
Stolas is reading a bedtime story to Octavia, as usual, when, all of a sudden, she disappears with a burst of smoke.
“Octavia?” He asks, unsure if it really happened. When he gets no response, he dashes from Octavia’s room back to his and Stella’s, panicking. “Stella! Octavia’s been summoned by a human!” He shouts. “Quickly, find my grimoire! It has a spell that will allow me to follow her!”
Stella bursts out of bed, panic clear on her face. “Octavia’s been what!?” She shouts. “How could this happen!? Don’t you need to set up a specific ritual that can summon you for it to happen!? How did Octavia get summoned without having set one up!?”
“I don’t know!” Stolas shouts, digging through the closet in search of his grimoire. Stella then joins him in searching.
“Uhhh, Naruto, that’s not Velvette.” Vox says, pointing at the young owl-demon, who is currently looking around in awe and no small amount of fear.
“Yeah… I can tell.” Naruto says. “She’s wearing pajamas!”
Vox chuckles. “That she is."
“Wh-where am I? Who are you!?” The owlette questions of Naruto, her fear beginning to win over her awe.
Naruto smiles at her. “You’re in the forest around Konoha.” He answers, confusing her further. “Sorry about summoning you, by the way. I was trying to summon someone else.”
“Velvet.” Vox clarifies, drawing her attention to him and causing her eyes to widen.
“Vox!?” She exclaims.
Vox raises an eyebrow. “I’m surprised a Goetia, especially one as young as yourself, has heard of me.”
“Father taught me about the Overlords last week!” She explains. “He said that you brought Television to Hell with you, and that all modern technology in Hell comes from you!”
Vox chuckles. “True, I did, and it does.”
Recognizing Vox has allowed her to calm down so, when she looks back at Naruto, she recognizes him. “Wait! You’re Naruto, from that show, The Daily Life Of Naruto Uzumaki!”
“Not a show, a livestream.” Naruto corrects.
The owlette’s eyes widen, and she opens her beak to respond, but before she can a portal opens behind her and a pissed-off and battle-ready Stolas steps out.
“WHO DARES TO TRY TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER FROM ME!?” The demonic prince demands, rage emanating from his distorted voice.
“Woah, calm down.” Vox says, stepping between Naruto and Stolas, apparently not scared in the slightest. “Naruto summoned your daughter on accident when attempting to summon Velvette!”
Stolas glares at him, trying and failing to petrify him for daring to step between him and his daughter, the magic not working due to their powers being too close, though Vox is the weaker of the two and they both know it.
The owlette, feeling Stolas’ rage, steps through Vox’s legs, revealing herself to be unharmed. As soon as Stolas sees her, his rage dies and is replaced with worry.
“Octavia! Are you okay? Did these two hurt you? Or try to?” He questions, kneeling down to fuss over her, though he keeps his upper pair of eyes trained on Vox.
Octavia shakes her head. "No! Look, it's Naruto, from the show!" She says, stepping back through Vox's legs to grab Naruto and pull him out. "See!?"
Vox chuckles. "Again, it's a livestream, not a show." He reminds her.
"Naruto from the livestream, then!" Octavia clarifies.
Stolas narrows his eyes at Naruto, finally taking in his appearance properly now that he's calm. "He is, isn't he?" He asks rhetorically. He then stands to face Vox. "I'm sorry for any distress I caused. As I'm sure you understand, I was quite distressed, myself, because of Octavia disappearing in the middle of her bedtime story." He apologizes, before taking Octavia in his arms and turning to go back through the portal and return to hell.
"Wait!" Naruto calls out, stopping Stolas in his tracks. "Can I make deals with you two before you leave?"
Stolas turns to him, raising an eyebrow. "You want to make a deal with me? What for?"
Naruto unseals the summoning scroll that Lucifer gave him, and offers it to Stolas. "Summoning deals. I get to summon you, and you set rules for when, where, and why I can, along with getting some form of payment out of it." He explains.
"The scroll has rules about what you can and can't ask of him." Vox says, having memorized the contents himself.
"I know! I know!" Octavia says suddenly, leaping from Stolas' arms and bear hugging Naruto. "I want to be friends! Summon me for..." She pauses, a thoughtful look on her face. "What do friends do?"
Stolas frowns, just now realizing that Octavia has no friends due to him and Stella intentionally sheltering her from the horrors of Hell, and thus unintentionally barring her from having a social life. He sighs.
"Fine." Stolas says, kneeling to look Naruto in the eye. "You may summon me for matters of education, specifically magical education, or in life-or-death situations. In exchange, you must summon Octavia at least once a week to hang out and have fun. You may only summon Octavia when the livestream is not active. Deal?" He offers, holding his hand out to Naruto.
Naruto grins and takes it. "Deal!"
