Sumire’s Love.
Sumire sat in the Hokage’s office, facing Shikamaru who had taken up the position of the 8th Hokage after Naruto's “death”. She was there to plead with him and convince him that their memories of Boruto and Kawaki were wrong. She insisted that Kawaki was the bad guy, the one they should be focusing on and opposing, while Boruto was innocent and being wrongly accused.
Shikamaru, who sat behind the desk wearing the Hokage cloak and looking exhausted from the weight of his new duties, listened to Sumire speaking. He paid attention to her every word and tried to consider her point of view. Once she finished speaking, he spoke up with a thoughtful expression on his face.
"You're saying we've got it all wrong? That Boruto is innocent and Kawaki is the bad guy?"
*Sumire explained her point of view to Shikamaru, emphasizing that Boruto was the true son of Naruto and a Uzumaki. She made it clear that Kawaki was not related to Naruto or a part of his family. She wanted Shikamaru to understand that the misunderstanding about their identities was a crucial factor in the whole situation.*
"You see... Boruto is the real son of the 7th Hokage... and a true Uzumaki!”
Shikamaru was taken aback by what Sumire had revealed to him. He had never heard of such a claim before, and he had believed that Kawaki was the son of Naruto and an Uzumaki all this time. The new information that she was presenting completely contradicted his perception of the situation and caught him off guard. He paused for a moment, processing her words, as he was grappling with the realization that he may have been misled about something so fundamental.
Shikamaru explained to Sumire that the reason why she and Sarada were being ostracized in the village was because of their continued support and defense of Boruto. As far as everyone in the village was aware, Boruto had been framed for the killing of the Hokage and, by extension, his wife.
"You and Sarada are being treated differently because of your defense of Boruto. He's perceived as the kage killer in the eyes of the village,"
Shikamaru's words were a painful reminder of the harsh consequences they were facing for sticking up for Boruto and his innocence. Shikamaru was presenting to her the reality as it was seen by the villagers, and the extent to which they believed in the false narrative that had been created due to the power of Omnipotence.
