Chapter 5
It was the next day, and Sai was on the hunt to get a gift similar to the one Sakura got for him. To him, it didn't make sense why someone would get someone something without a motive.
He had 4 stops. First, the weapon shop.
Since Sakura got him something that was of use to him, he decided to get something that would be of use to her.
He walked in and headed straight for the gloves.
Since the hag is always destroying things, she must go through at least 100 packs of gloves. He thought.
While in the store, he kept searching but could not find anything. Nothing at the store caught his eye and he wanted Sakura to be embarrassed.
Why?
Who knows.
Maybe it was the thought that Sakura would be disappointed in him, and he didn't want that.
As he foraged the shelves, there was nothing that had caught his interest. As an avid fighter himself, there was nothing in the store that Sai knew Sakura would want that she didn't already have.
As he walked out, about to head to the next store, he heard his name being called.
"Sai! Hey, wait up!"
He looked back and saw Ino waving for him to wait.
"Watcha doing?" Ino asked suggestively. Well, At least that's what Sai guessed that was what she was going for based on the "Guide To Expressions for Dummies" which was very helpful if he said so himself.
"I was looking for a gift for Sakura, but now it appears that I am trying to get out of this conversation," Sai said with his usual smile.
INO POV
Ino stopped in her tracks. As far as she knew, well as far as the whole of Konaha knew, Sai didn't give gifts. He didn't celebrate birthdays with people, and he certainly didn't just give people things.
This got her thinking.
Why would Sai do that for Sakura?
As Sai turned away and walked into yet another weapon shop, she stood there thinking,
I knew Sai and Sakura were close, but Sai's not the type of guy who gets someone something. Then again...
They are very CLOSE.
As she thought about it, she realized something.
Sai and Sakura actually spent a lot of time together
She thought back to the missions she went on with them and how Sai was always Sakura's partner. Even though he was an Anbu-level shinobi, he went on these lower-ranking missions only if Sakura was involved.
She thought back to all the times Sakura would complain about how Sai would keep pestering her at her home, but why was Sai always there in the first place?
All these thoughts collided and formed one huge lightbulb moment for Ino.
Either Sai likes Sakura or he just doesn't understand that that type of closeness is not normal for "just friends".
Either way, she was in the mood for some spice in her life. So, she tried to contain her smile and yelled.
"Hey Sai! Wait up! I know the Perfect Gift for her!" She yelled as she ran to catch up with him.
