Chapter 1
Cecilia Immergreen.
A girl known across her school for her beauty, knowledge, and overall elegance.
She was poised, got good grades, kept up her appearance every day, not leaving a fraction of imperfection in how she carried herself.
She hadn’t even been born into any rich family or the like, she earned her standing all through her own effort.
Her tale had grown popular since joining her high school.
As evident by the growing crowd around her desk once the bell for the end of the day rang.
The incessant noise from the masses kept snapping Cecilia back to reality, no matter how much she tried to daydream. She was “suffering from success,” as some might say.
It was even worse considering Cecilia’s desk was at the edge of the class, next to the windows lining the wall and allowing light to seep into the room. The white haired girl with a stroke of green didn’t mind this, actually. It was nice whenever she was already knowledgable on the subject they were learning about, she could just look outside and see the beautiful sky.
Although, it did result in cases like the one she was dealing with at present. She didn’t have an easy method of escape. There were enough students crowded around her desk that there weren’t any cracks big enough for her to slip through, as she observed while still drowning out their voices.
She could just ask them to leave. They would most certainly listen. After all, most of these students were her “friends.”
Instead, she resigned to at least a couple more minutes of this torture, deciding to finally pay attention to what they were saying. Despite still looking outside to the clouds above.
She could hear questions, like:
“Wanna grab a bite with us?”
“Can we hang out today?”
“Let’s study together!”
The typical for Cecilia.
She answered what questions she could, as to not appear rude.
Although, surprisingly, that was most of what she heard. There was a confusing lack of variety in their requests, the question of why being answered when she clocked in that the crowd had thinned. Only a couple people remained, those of which now choosing to discuss with their other friends, thinking up ideas for activities. She was unable to discern if they included her or not, but that didn’t matter.
Cecilia finally stood up, grabbing her bag and starting towards the exit of the classroom.
However, there was a detail that gave her a momentary pause.
Scanning the room one last time as she walked, she noticed one girl still sitting at her desk, her face turned away and flushed. She had dark brown hair with light brown strokes across here and there tied into two ponytails that came from the sides of her head. Cecilia also noticed the girl’s pink eyes that she had shut close upon noticing Cecilia studying her.
Odd. Cecilia assumed she was just another admirer and went on her way, now roaming the hallways and leaving the room in silence.
“OH MY GOD SHE LOOKED AT ME!” Thought Gigi Murin, as she slowly, silently, freaked out in her own mind.
Gigi Murin was… weird. To say the least.
Despite being an energetic and playful person, she had been fairly lonely in her years. She just had a level of chaos that most couldn’t handle or keep up with.
She was not afraid of saying lewd comments at the most random of times, and she bounced off other peoples jokes and thoughts so easily that it was uncanny.
It hadn’t really bothered her in recent years though. She was perfectly fine being a crazy gremlin without hinderance.
Until Cecilia Immergreen showed up.
Cecilia was perfect.
She was soooooo pretty.
She’s so smart.
And by god is she cute-
Gigi Murin smashed her head into her desk, startling the others still in the classroom, if only for a moment before their conversations started again.
Saying she admired Cecilia was an understatement. She loved her. And she hated that.
It felt like an admission of defeat.
Like said prior, Cecilia was perfect. And she had so many friends.
And Gigi had none.
Who was she to proclaim that she liked Cecilia? Especially in that way.
“Ugh…” Gigi groaned out loud, the sound being muffled by the desk she had face planted into.
Just another day.
Gigi began to lift herself up, grabbing her bag and exiting the classroom.
It was another day. Cecilia hadn’t ended up doing anything the previous day. It was all just boring to her. Days were filled with requests from friends and offers to hang out or eat and it just exhausted her. Studying had become a chore. Her hobbies felt unfulfilling. It was strange.
The bell rang for the end of the day, and Cecilia stood up immediately. Intending to avoid the crowd today, she started towards the exit. Until her eyes drifted to that same brown haired girl from yesterday.
The girl had face planted into her desk.
“Hey.” Cecilia said.
The sound of her voice seemingly revitalized the girl, as she lifted her head ever so slightly as she spoke.
“Are you ok?” Cecilia continued.
Instead of answering, the girl turned away and began looking around, like she was looking for someone specifically. This confused Cecilia, but she was patient, and waited for the girl to finish her search.
Eventually, the girl turned back to her, confused.
“A-are you talking to me?” She asked.
“Yes? Who else would I be talking to?”
“…”
“Hello?”
“ohsidooJSBSOOANALAOXMFBEPANFJUFHCNOSHDJRKFIFIE”
“Hello?” Cecilia said once again, a little bit frustrated.
“O-oh, um, sorry. Yeah, im fibe.”
“You mean fine?”
“Y-yeah!”
“Are you sure you’re ok? You’re stuttering a lot, and you look like you’re warming up.”
“I-I… it’s just a bit hot in here, I’m fine. A-and I didn’t get much sleep last night! So my brain isn’t fully functioning-“
“Your face is red.”
“…”
“What’s your name?”
“Gigi Murin…?” She answered with a whisper, despite her stupor.
“Do you want to go the nurse, Gigi?”
“I…”
Cecilia waited patiently for an answer.
“Sorry! I gotta go!” Gigi exclaimed suddenly.
“W-wait what!?!”
The little brown haired girl bolted out the room, leaving Cecilia with a hand outstretched and confused.
I can’t face her.
I tried.
But I can’t.
Gigi Murin can’t do it.
I don’t deserve it.
Gigi Murin doesn’t deserve it.
…
Gigi Murin looked at the mirror of her bathroom.
“It won’t change anything.”
Silence.
“Sigh… hehe. Fuck it!”
She grabbed some scissors she had nearby.
