Chapter 8

“Sasuke… Sasuke! Wake up!”

Tsunade stood over a previously sleeping Sasuke, who rose with a rush of adrenaline. “What! What?” He rubbed his eyes and saw his aunt in full pink scrubs glowering over him. She began her reprimand, “It’s nearly noon! Why aren’t you at school? And you have my beer cans all over your floor? Sasuke this is unacceptable, you promised me you wouldn’t skip school!”

Sasuke grumbled and came to a seat with his eyes down and head throbbing from a hangover. Looking at his clock which read 11:53 a.m., he felt a strange wave of haze wash over him as his mind started to wake up.

The intruder!

Sasuke suddenly jumped out of bed when he remembered the man named Kurama from the night before. Tsunade stepped back quickly, surprised by his burst of energy. With a short breath Sasuke exclaimed, “Tsunade – did you see a man in the apartment? He was glowing and had a sword!”

Tsunade gave him a confused and concerned look, “No, there’s no one here Sasuke. What has gotten into you?”

Sasuke’s jaw tightened and he marched out the room. Travelling down the hall and into the living area he saw the fiend. Sitting on the couch with his legs propped up on the coffee table, Kurama turned his head to see Sasuke approach.

“Yo,” Kurama made a waving motion at Sasuke.

Tsunade chased after Sasuke, angrily commanding him to stop. The highschooler turned to his aunt and with an exasperated look he pointed towards Kurama, “Do you see him? Do you see the man on the couch?”

Tsunade looked from the empty couch to Sasuke, her frown morphing into a look of desperation. “Oh honey, I don’t see anyone there.”

Kurama sneezed and then proceeded to wipe his nose. With a deep voice chuckle he said, “The woman is an interesting one to watch. I like her.”

Sasuke felt his stomach drop, looking between Tsunade and Kurama.

I have officially gone insane.

Tsunade moved towards him with her arms outstretched, asking for a hug, “Sasuke, I think maybe we should make an appointment… see a doctor. You are worrying me…”

Sasuke balled his hands into a fist as she said this, and with an explosion of hormonal fury he yelled at Tsunade, cutting her off mid-sentence. “Look, I don’t need your help. I don’t need anyone! Just leave me alone!” He grabbed his school backpack and raced out of the apartment before Tsunade could respond. He didn’t look towards Kurama’s direction – denying his existence.

On the way out of the apartment he slammed the door and cried out a dramatic, “Fuck everything!”
