Chapter 7: The 4th Hokage Is...
A Few Years Later
Minato, Kushina, Akane, and Akimitsu's friendship started to whitter away over the past few years. As each of Minato's friends became jonin, they had less time to hang out together. Minato was assigned a genin team a two years ago. Unfortunately, the third war took two of his students. Kushina never got over Akane and Minato dating. Akimitsu was starting to resent Minato since Kushina would only talk about is Minato when they did find time to hang out.
The sun was high in the sky, casting its golden rays over the entire village of Konoha. The air buzzed with excitement and anticipation as the villagers gathered in front of the Hokage Tower, eager to witness a historic moment. Today, Minato Namikaze would officially be named the Fourth Hokage.
The war had ended only months ago, but the scars it left were still fresh. The memories of loss and devastation were etched into the hearts of every shinobi and civilian who had lived through it. But today was a day of celebration—today marked the beginning of a new era of peace, led by the man who had become a hero to all of them.
Minato stood at the top of the Hokage Tower, his bright blue eyes scanning the crowd below. He could feel the weight of the title settling on his shoulders, but it wasn't a burden he shied away from. He had worked his entire life for this moment, and he was ready to take on the responsibility of leading the village he loved.
As he stood there, his soon-to-be predecessor, Hiruzen Sarutobi, placed a hand on his shoulder, offering him a nod of approval. The Third Hokage had seen much in his time, but he had no doubt that Minato was the right choice to guide Konoha into the future. Still, not everyone in the village was pleased with the decision.
In the crowd, Orochimaru stood with his arms crossed, his golden eyes narrowed in frustration. For years, he had coveted the title of Hokage, believing that his genius and power made him the rightful successor to Sarutobi. But that dream had been shattered the moment Hiruzen named Minato as his successor. Orochimaru's lips curled into a thin, dangerous smile as he watched the ceremony, his mind already plotting what his next move would be.
Not far from him, Akimitsu Senju stood in silence, his emotions carefully hidden behind a mask of calm. While he respected Minato as an old friend and comrade, he couldn't help but feel the sting of disappointment. His clan had once been the most powerful in Konoha, and yet the Senju name continued to fade into the background as others rose to prominence. But even with that disappointment, Akimitsu knew one thing: Minato had earned this.
Then there was Fugaku Uchiha. The Uchiha clan head stood with his arms folded, his expression stoic, but his mind was anything but calm. The idea of an Uchiha sitting in the Hokage's chair had been crushed once again. Fugaku could feel the resentment simmering within him. His clan had been sidelined for too long, and with Minato as Hokage, he feared that the Uchiha would continue to be pushed into the shadows.
But among the sea of faces, one stood out to Minato more than any other.
There she was, standing near the back of the crowd, her dark hair framing her beautiful face, her onyx eyes shining with pride. Akane Uchiha, his secret fiancée, stood quietly among the villagers, watching the ceremony unfold. Her heart swelled with love as she watched the man she had always believed in rise to the highest rank in the village.
Minato caught her gaze, and for a brief moment, the world around him seemed to fall away. His smile softened as he looked at her, a smile filled with warmth, love, and the unspoken promises they had made to each other. He couldn't publicly acknowledge their relationship—her clan's rules, her probation, and the complexities of village politics demanded secrecy—but in that moment, the connection they shared was undeniable.
Akane's heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze. She smiled back, a subtle but genuine smile that only Minato would recognize. It was their secret, their world, and in that moment, nothing else mattered.
The roar of the crowd brought Minato back to the present as Hiruzen Sarutobi stepped forward, holding the ceremonial Hokage hat in his hands. The Third Hokage raised his voice so that all could hear.
"It is with great honor that I name Minato Namikaze as the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure," Hiruzen announced, his voice carrying over the cheers of the villagers.
As he placed the hat on Minato's head, the crowd erupted into applause. The villagers cheered for their new leader, the man who had saved them from the brink of destruction, the man who would lead them into a brighter future.
Minato turned to face the crowd, his heart pounding in his chest as he prepared to give his first speech as Hokage. He glanced once more at Akane, drawing strength from the love and support he saw in her eyes, before turning his attention to the people of Konoha.
"My fellow villagers," he began, his voice steady and strong, "it is an honor and a privilege to stand before you today as your Fourth Hokage. This village has endured great trials, and we have suffered unimaginable losses. But through it all, we have remained united. It is that unity, that strength, that will guide us forward into an era of peace."
The crowd listened in rapt attention as Minato continued, his words filled with hope and determination.
"I vow to protect this village with everything I have," Minato said, his gaze sweeping across the sea of faces. "I vow to honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and to ensure that Konoha remains a place of safety, strength, and prosperity for generations to come."
The cheers rose again, louder this time, as Minato finished his speech. But even as he stood there, basking in the applause of the people, his mind was already thinking ahead. There was much work to be done, challenges to face, and dangers that still loomed on the horizon.
But for now, he allowed himself this moment. This moment of triumph, shared with the woman he loved, even if only from afar.
The sound of bubbling broth filled Kushina's kitchen as she and Akimitsu sat at the small table, bowls of steaming ramen in front of them. The savory scent of miso and pork filled the air, but despite her favorite dish being right in front of her, Kushina's mood was anything but pleasant.
She took another frustrated bite, her mind racing with thoughts of Minato and Akane. She had spent weeks trying to come to terms with their relationship, trying to accept that they were happy together. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the bitterness that clung to her like a shadow.
"You know," she huffed, poking at her noodles with her chopsticks, "I should've been up there with him. I should've been the one standing by Minato's side as he became Hokage. Not her."
Akimitsu sat across from her, his usual calm demeanor barely masking the impatience bubbling beneath the surface. For weeks—no, years—he had listened to Kushina's complaints about Minato and Akane. And now, after everything that had happened, he had finally had enough.
Setting his bowl aside, Akimitsu stood up, his expression composed but his voice laced with an undercurrent of frustration. "Kushina," he began, his tone measured, "for the last few years, you've been complaining about Minato and Akane. And I get it, I really do. But at some point, you have to accept the reality of the situation."
Kushina blinked, caught off guard by his sudden seriousness. "What do you mean?"
Akimitsu's lips curled into a smile—not the warm, friendly kind, but something sharper, something darker. It reminded her, in that moment, of his sensei, Orochimaru. There was a calculating glint in his eyes as he leaned forward, his voice lowering as if he were about to reveal some great secret.
"They still care about you, Kushina," he said softly. "They still love you as a friend. But lately, you've been pushing them away with all this resentment. So why don't you do something about it?"
Kushina frowned, her confusion growing. "What do you mean 'do something about it?' What can I do?"
Akimitsu's smile widened, his plan already forming in his mind. "You make a plan. You make them realize that things don't have to be this way."
Kushina tilted her head, still unsure of what he was getting at. "What kind of plan?"
Akimitsu's voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper, his eyes gleaming with something far more dangerous than mere annoyance. "What you should do," he said slowly, "is tell Fugaku-sama about their relationship. Anonymously, of course."
Kushina's eyes widened in shock. "Tell Fugaku? But that would—"
"Exactly," Akimitsu interrupted smoothly. "It would force them to break up. Fugaku would never allow his cousin to be in a relationship with someone like Minato—especially if it threatens the Uchiha's control over her future."
Kushina's heart raced. The idea of exposing Minato and Akane's relationship made her stomach turn. It felt wrong—dishonest, even. But Akimitsu wasn't finished.
"And then," he continued, his voice growing even quieter, "you and I pretend to date. Just for a while. It'll make Minato jealous, force him to see what he's missing. And when Akane's out of the picture, he'll realize that you were the one for him all along."
Kushina stared at him, her mind reeling. It was a devious plan—a plan that went against everything she had been taught, everything she stood for. But at the same time, she couldn't deny the part of her that ached for Minato's attention. The part of her that wanted him to look at her the way he looked at Akane. The part of her that had loved him for ten long years.
"I don't know…" she murmured, her voice uncertain. "It feels… wrong."
Akimitsu leaned back, his expression softening slightly. "I get that," he said. "But think about it. You've loved Minato for years, and he's always been blind to it. This is your chance to make him see. And honestly, it's not like they were ever really meant to be together. You're the one who's always been there for him."
Kushina bit her lip, the conflicting emotions swirling in her chest. She didn't want to betray her friends. She didn't want to hurt them. But if this was the only way to be with Minato… maybe it wasn't so bad.
No, she thought, it is bad. It's manipulative. It's cruel.
But then she remembered Akane's smile, the way she and Minato shared those quiet, intimate moments. She remembered the jealousy that had gnawed at her heart for so long. She remembered the feeling of being left behind.
Akimitsu's voice broke through her thoughts once more. "Just think about it," he said quietly. "If you don't want to do it, that's fine. But if you do… I'll help you every step of the way."
Kushina didn't respond right away. She simply stared down at her bowl of ramen, her appetite long gone. In her mind, she saw two paths—one where she accepted things as they were, and another where she fought for what she believed she deserved.
"I'll think about it," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Akimitsu smiled, satisfied with her answer. "That's all I ask."
This Chapter reveal what a corrupt Senju would be like. After all losing something like your birth right of being Hokage to a clanless man would make me mad too. The clear antagonist of this story is clearly Akimitsu Senju. I also haven't read many stories where there was a corrupted Senju. A lot of people arent going to like his character. It is what it is. I needed to create a character that could pass down a certain Kekkei Genkai down to Mito Uzumaki, an ability that's been hinted at for a while now.
