Today was the day…
The day that Naruto didn’t look forward to every year.
…His birthday…
He was currently in his apartment sitting on his bed and looking out the window, watching the fireworks. Today was the anniversary of the Kyuubi’s defeat and everyone in the village was celebrating with food stands and games.
Naruto of course would like to go down there and join in on the fun but he knows he wouldn’t be welcomed there. He doesn’t wanna have to deal with all the mean glares and threats thrown his way.
He sighed as a lone tear ran down his face. He was shaken out of his thoughts when he heard a knock on his door.
‘Who the hell could that be’ wondered Naruto.
He got up and made his way to the door. He opened the door and gaped at the unexpected visitor on the other side.
“Sasuke?!”
Sasuke stared blankly at him “Naruto. So this is where you’ve been, Why aren’t you out there with the rest of us”.
Naruto scowled “I don’t see how that’s any of ur business bastard”.
Sasuke glared “well excuse me for being kinda worried about you”.
Naruto spluttered “since when have you ever worried about me?”.
Sasuke looked away “since forever dobe”.
Naruto’s eyes widen until he sighed “I’m not going to the festival because I wouldn’t be welcomed there”.
Sasuke looked back and tilted his head “is it because of the fox inside you”.
Naruto nodded.
“Who cares if you have the fox inside you. Your Naruto, not the nine tails” said Sasuke.
Naruto sadly smiled “I know teme but everyone will always see me as the nine tails”.
Sasuke tsked then grabbed Naruto’s hand “come on, we’re going to that festival. I won’t let you stay holed up in here”.
Naruto stumbled but made sure to close his door as they walked down the stairs.
Naruto tried to pull his hand away “Lemme go Sasuke!!! I told you I’m not going to the festival”.
Sasuke merely tightened his grip on Naruto’s hand “you deserve to have fun too dobe, don’t let these assholes ruin it for you”.
“This is a bad idea teme!!!”.
But Sasuke didn’t listen as he kept dragging Naruto until they finally made it to the festival.
As they were walking, everyone’s attention immediately honed in on Naruto. The boy in question could immediately feel everyone’s piercing gaze right at him.
He heard all the rude comments being thrown his way as he and Sasuke were walking past them.
“Look…it’s him”.
“Who invited the demon brat here”.
“Your the reason why Lord Fourth is dead”.
“Stay away from the Uchiha you monster”.
“Leave this Village already”.
“Your a genin still while your fellow classmates are Chunin and Jounin”.
“Die already nine tails brat!!!!”.
Naruto halted his steps as he gritted his teeth and could already feel tears running down his face.
Sasuke turned to him “dobe, don’t listen to them”.
The villagers all started to chant “DEMON! DEMON! DEMON! DEMONNNNNN!!!”.
Eventually, Naruto snapped “SHUTUP!!! JUST SHUTUP”.
Everyone gasped at him and stared in fear at the boy, afraid that he would possibly let out the demon fox.
Naruto pulled his hand out of Sasuke’s grip and immediately turned around and started to run away.
“Naruto wait” said Sasuke.
Naruto didn’t listen, he just kept running. He ran and ran until he finally made it to the training grounds. He was so frustrated and seething with rage that his eyes turned crimson red and was surrounded in familiar orange chakra.
Immediately, he started destroying everything in his sight in anger while screaming his lungs out.
Sasuke finally made it to the training grounds after following Naruto and widened his eyes at what he was seeing. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
Naruto yelled “DAMN YOU VILLAGERS. CAN’T SPEND A DAY WITHOUT EVERYONE GLARING ME, THEY’RE ALL SUCH ASSHOLES. SO WHAT IF IM A GENIN, IM STILL DOING MY BEST”.
Naruto dropped down to his knees and let out a choked sob “…though they’re not wrong..my classmates have surpassed me…I’m weak compared to them. I don’t know what to do”.
Then a voice rumbled inside of him “destroy everything. Destroy the village, I will give you the power to do so”.
Naruto scowled “SHUTUP YOU STUPID FOX. ITS YOUR FAULT MY LIFE IS COMPLETE SHIT”.
The nine tails cackled “are you sure. Your weak brat, at this rate…you’ll never surpass the Uchiha”.
Naruto screamed “SHUTUP!!!!!”.
Naruto rubbed at his face “…I can’t take this anymore. Maybe I don’t deserve to stay in the village in anymore…I should leave”.
Sasuke quietly gasped.
Naruto stood up “…maybe I could go join Pervy sage on his travels again..or better yet…let the akatsuki capture me. If I died…then everyone wouldn’t have to put up with me anymore…”.
Suddenly arms wrapped around Naruto’s waist and pulled him back against a firm chest.
“Wha…” Naruto was confused.
“Don't say that!! Don’t ever say that again Naruto, you hear me”. That voice…
“Sasuke?…” said Naruto.
“I won’t allow my brother to capture you. Dont ever say it would be better if you died because it wouldn’t Naruto. Do you really wanna leave behind all your friends,Kakashi, Lady Tsunade, Jiraiya…Iruka Sensei” Sasuke Began to tremble.
Naruto let out a quiet sob
Sasuke let out a choked sob “What about me dobe!!! Your the only one I have left in my life, if you died…I don’t think I could continue living in this world without you”.
Naruto sobbed and dropped to his knees as Sasuke went down with him too. Sasuke pulled him closer.
Sasuke continued “you say we’ve surpassed you but that’s not true. We’re all still at the same level as you, who cares if your not a Chunin or Jounin…your the strongest genin in this damn village and you know it”.
Sasuke cupped Naruto’s cheek and turned his face toward him “your not weak dobe, no matter what the villagers say or that damn fox thinks…your strong”.
Naruto cried “Sasuke…”.
Sasuke rested his forehead against Naruto’s “this is probably a bad time to say this but I need to get it off my chest”.
Naruto let out a confused noise
Sasuke took a deep breath “Naruto…I love you”.
Naruto gasped
Sasuke continued “I’ve been in love with you since the first time I saw you when I was sitting on the docks. I didn’t wanna acknowledge it back then so I chose to ignore it and be a dick to you. I started to acknowledge it when we had our first kiss and after I saved you from Haku”.
Naruto’s eyes widened
“My feelings for you continued to grow when you saved me from Orochimaru and Gaara. I was overwhelmed with happiness when you brought Tsunade to save me my brothers tsukuyomi attack. I was astonished when you saved me from going to Orochimarus lair”.
Naruto began to tremble in Sasuke’s arms.
Sasuke nuzzled his nose against Naruto’s “Your my hero Naruto. Your everything to me. My best friend,rival,my one and only…but…I’d like to be your lover too. It’s okay if you don’t feel the same way and I understand if you wanna stay best-“.
Sasuke didn’t get to finish what he was saying as Naruto pulled him close and crashed their lips together. Sasuke gasped and pulled Naruto closer to deepen the kiss. He licked Naruto’s bottom lip and Naruto immediately granted him access as their tongues tangled together.
After a few minutes, they pulled back because they kinda need to breathe.
“Naruto?” Said Sasuke.
Naruto wailed and wrapped his arms around Sasuke’s shoulders as he buried his face in his neck.
Naruto cried “Me too!!! I feel the same way about you Sasuke. Your my first bond, my best friend,you accepted me even though I had the stupid fox inside of me. I have feelings for you too and they’ve grown over the years too. I love you Sasuke Uchiha!!!”.
Sasuke smiled and hugged him tighter “…and I love you too…Naruto Uzumaki”.
Naruto smiled as the two boys sat there hugging each other and basking in the love between them.
Naruto started “..so…does this mean..we’re boyfriends”.
Sasuke kissed his cheek “obviously dobe. Your mine now, I’m not letting you get away that easily”.
Naruto blushed “Teme!!!”.
Sasuke chuckled and smiled lovingly at Naruto “Happy Birthday Naruto!!”.
Naruto beamed and gave Sasuke a soft kiss “Thank you teme. This is the best birthday I’ve had in a long time”.
Sasuke smirked “they’ll be more to come”.
Naruto smiled “ I look forward to it”.
