Chapter 7
Kakashi blankly stared at his bowl of ramen as if it had all the answers to his plight.
He idly stabbed a piece of pork with his chopsticks, Kushina’s rambling filled the silence as she dramatically regaled on about her most recent mission.
His grip on his chopsticks tightened. His mind was in complete turmoil.
Kakashi had no idea how to proceed.
Yes, he was for some reason by some fucked up twist of fate alive and currently eating ramen sitting across his once dead sensei and his girlfriend.
Kakashi wonders if this is karma for the blood on his hands.
If it was, then fate had a fucked up sense of humor. Not that fate particularly had been kind with him to begin with.
He wanted nothing more than to run away and go destroy a train ground, to just let out everything he had kept locked down free and just rage. To then just pass out in a bed for the next week.
Emotions he thought were long ago buried began to rise up again, he ruthlessly shoved them back down.
Unbidden he remembered something someone had told back in ANBU.
‘Emotions aren’t a liability, Taichou. You’re allowed to feel angry.’
Ah, right. Genma had been the one who had told him this once.
He had always hated how the sandaime would continue to send Kakashi on missions non-stop to the point of near collapse, hated how Kakashi would still continue to go.
Genma would have probably stormed the hokage tower to yell at the sandaime himself if it weren't for the fact that it would have been considered treason.
Now that he really thought about it, Team Ro in general hated it when Kakashi failed to properly care for himself, always constantly hovering around him.
Except Tenzo, but Kakashi wasn't really sure if he counted, he was just as bad at taking care of himself as Kakashi.
Ah fuck, Tenzo. He hoped he was still alive, last he saw him Tenzo was still recovering from being possessed.
He bit his lip, an old habit he thought he had long ago dropped.
His lack of mask was making him feel vulnerable and he was itching to cover his face again. He hated not having the sense of security his mask provided. He looked too much like his father. FaTHeR wHY? Don’t Leave ME
STOP
Breath …1…2…3…4
Okay
Kakashi needed a plan.
He had to do something.
But …
Kakashi wasn’t Naruto.
He wasn’t kind in the way Naruto was. He was ruthless, cold, anything but the warmth and hope that Naruto was.
Sometimes he wonders how Naruto managed to stay as kind as he was, with how bad the villagers hate was. Fools. They feared what they couldn’t understand. Kakashi hated them. His instincts howled in rage at their cruelty.
He still didn’t even know the exact date he had been thrown into.
A sharp clink startled him out of his thoughts.
He blinked.
He looked back up. Kushina has a nervous smile on.
He squinted at her suspiciously.
He knew that look.
It was the look that meant she was going to say something that he definitely was not going to like.
He glanced at Minato.
Minato-sensei who resolutely avoided looking at Kakashi, which only served to make him more suspicious.
”Sooo… Kakashi, you’re going have to stay with us for the next month”, She chirped out nervously.
What
”What”
Snap
Ahh.. well there went his chopsticks.
