Chapter 1
The sun shines through the stained-glass windows in the Cathedral as wedding bells rang. The air was filled with the scent of flowers used to decorate the beautiful altar and the wedding guests had all accumulated and were seated already.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the love ofΒ Boruto UzumakiΒ andΒ Sumire KakeiΒ as they come together in marriage.β The priest began as Bolt smiled at his bride to be.
Saradaβs hands began to clench as she avoided looking, it hurt too much. She couldnβt bear to think about the guy of her dreams becoming someone else's.Β βMaybe that wouldβve been me up there if I had only opened my mouth.βΒ She thought to herself as tears welled up in her eyes, blurring the shaking hands.
Just thinking about it made her heart break open.Β βWhy couldnβt that be me? Why?'Β The Uchiha pondered to herself as she tried her hardest to keep strong, not for her sake but for Borutoβs.
They had been best friends since childhood, and she always had a secret crush on Bolt. She couldnβt help herself; he drove her mad but, in the end, she never told him. She never explained to him how much he meant to her, how deeply in love she was with him. And every day that passed made it even harder to do when there was another girl who also loved and cherished him as much as she did.
βDo youΒ Sumire KakeiΒ takeΒ Boruto UzumakiΒ to be your lawfully wedded husband? To live together in matrimony, to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?β The priest said cheerfully as he locked eyes with her.
βI do.β The violette answered sweetly as she looked at Bolt lovingly, a soft smile on her beautiful face.
βDo youΒ Boruto Uzumaki, takeΒ Sumire KakeiΒ to be your lawfully wedded wife?β
There it was. The one thing Sarada was trying so desperately to avoid her whole life.Β The dagger already lodged into her heart felt like it twisted and pierced itself further inside of her.Β βShould IΒ leave now or stay?βΒ The Uchiha argued back and forth with herself as she sat silently awaiting his response.
Then within seconds she came to the conclusion that leaving would be the best solution. She couldnβt do it; her broken heart wouldnβt survive.
βExcuse me.β Sarada said over & over again as she quietly made her way past her parents and friends. She held back a sob as her father shot her a glare. Her dad loved and adored Boruto like a son and she even heard him talk withΒ NanadaimeΒ about their marriage. She knew she had disappointed her father immensely.
Many people filling the room began to stare at her, questioning her actions. But she didnβt care, nothing mattered to her anymore.Β The Uchiha headed down the aisle and felt Boltβs lone azure eye burning a hole into her back, probably wondering what had gotten into her.
But Sarada didnβt dare turn back.
