Chapter 15
Chapter 15: Search Continues
Itachi slowly got used to this world. Fortunately, they spoke a language similar to the one back in Konoha. However, more than ten times he was stopped by people who complimented his cosplay and asked which character he was portraying. He was confused each time.
The shinobi understood that this world was vastly different, with its own history and stories. He found a library and was pleased that there were no restrictions, allowing him to browse many books. He read through a lot of them and quickly learned that the world was vastly different from his own.
The portal that truly brought him here led to an alternate world, far from his own.
Japan, luckily, was similar to the Elemental Nation. It even had the same language. From a nearby library, he learned about cosplay, and he had to admit it was weird—but come on, he was a shinobi! But then again, chakra didn’t exist in this world.
Another time, an agent stopped him, asking him to join a modeling agency.
But Sasuke? There was no sign of him. Itachi had learned that he was in a country called Japan—strange, vast, and unlike anything he had experienced before.
With Sasuke
The classroom was empty, something Sasuke was well aware of. Curse sorcerers, unlike in his ninja world, were few and far between. He recalled that the school only had about fifty students in total. "Students" was a loose term; they were mostly akin to apprentices, learning how to use curse techniques effectively and training other "normal" life skills, like clerical work, in order to have a stable job. After all, sorcerers weren’t well-known anymore in this era.
Sasuke's eyes wandered over to the lone student slouched in his chair in the classroom. He had been told to go there and meet his new teammates. Sasuke shoved his smartphone into his pocket. He loved his world, but damn, was it behind in technology compared to Earth here. It had been long since Sasuke had been in Jujutsu Tech, but the school was as weird as ever.
"Sasuke Uchiha..."
"Junpei," the boy replied. "Junpei Yoshino." He had large bags under his eyes. Sasuke noticed cigarette burn marks on his temple. Has he been bullied? Typical. Curse energy did tend to bring misfortune to sorcerers.
The boy continued, "Uh, we’re in a team—just a two-man cell for now? Eh, uh, right. My technique allows me to summon electric jellyfish shinigami—Moon Dregs, specifically... and you?"
"It's complicated. Think of me as a ninja," Sasuke replied. He pulled out a chair and placed his purple suitcase on the ground. He sat down on it like a cowboy, staring at Junpei with interest.
He was different from Sakura or Naruto. Calm and quiet. He was like Megumi or Nanami—collected and calm. Sasuke liked that. It meant he was level-headed and good to work with. Sometimes, Sasuke wished Naruto and Sakura were as mature as sorcerers from this world.
"I'll be frank. I’m not from this world, but I mean no harm. I am here for a collab for the time being. I come from a place where we use a different kind of energy, but I can also use curse energy. Anyway, I’m from a clan called Uchiha. We have some freaky Sharingan, but mine’s a little unique—my Sharingan is a different color, and it’s painful to use. My main skill is hand-to-hand combat and fire ninjutsu. Anyway, we’re about to head out on a mission. Junpei, you ready?" Sasuke stood up and walked to the door. He had been here five years ago, and nothing had changed. The school was still as quiet and eerie as ever.
The boy nervously nodded, and they left.
At the Mission Site
"Ugh, that’s a nasty Grade 2..." Junpei whistled as they walked through the veil.
Sasuke brushed his uniform. "This’ll be tough. According to the information we have, it can amplify its attacks. I’ll fight it head-on, you give me support!"
Junpei nodded.
Walking through the abandoned school, they found their target—about the size of a car. Its form was slushy and made of strange paper. Sasuke dashed forward, swinging his suitcase against the creature, ready to fight, while Junpei summoned his shinigami.
From afar, an exhausted Itachi watched, perched in the trees... in awe. He had finally found sasuke since his chakra signature was something he knew like the back of his hand. Itachi suppressed a sigh and the urge to run at sasuke and hug him. His Anbu mask was in his hands, his Sharingan blazing.
Sasuke's movements were like his, an Anbu’s—swift, fast. And the Grade 2 curse he was fighting (Itachi read it from the other boy’s lips) was made of paper. When Itachi shut off his Sharingan, the curse disappeared. But when he activated his Sharingan, it reappeared. So, it was only visible to the Sharingan. Was it genjutsu? What was going on? Itachi watched on confused as the other boy summoned a green jellyfish.
