The beginning
A silver-haired teenager sat idly on a bench, in front of him, people strolled with their dogs. He looks at them with a single eye that is duller than black paint.
His eye follows the dogs that are running around while their owners watch them behind. They chase among themselves, bark, play and tackle. It was a sight to see for the teenager.
The dogs were cute. He likes them, that's the only positive thing in his day.
Today, the former middle aged man, becomes a boy that is shorter and younger.
His mental age is different from his physical one and worrying enough, he doesn't recognize his surroundings.
On top of that, the boy's last memory was blurry. Blurry like a fog blocking it but if he thinks about it enough, some memories can be recalled.
And the last memory is him sleeping on his bed. Which isn't helpful.
It's either he lost some memories of why he appeared here or he just appeared here after falling asleep.
Earlier he woke up standing in a dark alleyway, upon exiting he was greeted by a place full of dogs and cats running.
He then decided to just sit in one of the benches and collect his thoughts while watching the only thing that made this day bright, dogs.
The silver haired teenager looks around his surroundings, watching as people interact and move.
Trying to recall if this place is something he ventured before but just forgot about it.
In the end he concludes that he doesn't know this place. He doesn't know what that brick is supposed to be and he doesn't know what’s the moving picture on the tall square buildings– wait, he does know that, TV right?
But how did it become so big? Ugh headaches.
… Yes, billboards.
What he doesn't know is the monstrous moving carriage with no horses that pulled it.
The teenager sighs, he doesn't know what to do. And that's the first.
Guess an old man like him still has first. Well, hasn't done much in his life, for example falling in love.
The teenager pulled his mask tighter trying to relax himself, as anxiety rose.
Is this genjutsu? Is he experiencing genjutsu right now?
But no, that's less likely, even Itachi can't create such a realistic genjutsu with no bases, everyone looks different and not familiar at all.
Just like that green skinned man. Itachi could never, but there's a chance.
If there's a crackhead that holds the same capabilities as Itachi and with a wild imagination it might be possible.
He'll need to test it out, so the teenager finally stands from his bench after 29 minutes of just staring at dogs.
Going back to the dark alley.
After 10 minutes, the teenager is back and slowly walks to the same bench and sits on it, staring once again at the dogs, his hand bleeding but was blocked by a bandage. Tightly blocked that it's not obvious that's his bleeding, looking like one of the many fashion trends of emo boy with bandage.
He closes his eyes and digests the information of his surroundings, hearing the chatter and the noise of ads.
Hearing keywords that keep being repeatedly said, “Heroes” and “All Might”.
So, the teenager opened his eyes and had to do the old ways at gathering information through his ears and sight.
Acting like he isn't eavesdropping and spying, the boy stared at the dogs.
They're browling which made the lonely boy on the bench smile that cannot be seen due to his mask.
The teenager is wearing a dark blue sleeveless turtleneck paired with a black pants.
And just stare at the dogs until
1 hour passed.
He stood up again then went to the dark alley.
Few minutes in, he curses.
Fuck!
Kakashi thought, as he, the silver haired teenager, looked at the floor.
He loses his calm for a minute, then regains it in a second.
This world is different, this isn't the future of Konoha and it has different views that they're even scared of a flimsy knife. Kakashi was flabbergasted. But he also finds it funny.
He knows, because of the billboards, it was so loud that he can hear it from far away as it utter some news about taking down a villain with a knife before they strike.
So, Kakashi has to hide weapons, just in case. While checking his body, he noticed a change.
Alarmingly, he only has 2 kunai and 5 shuriken in his body. And storage scrolls that he hasn't opened yet. But what made him panic, is the lost book.
His most treasured possession, Icha Icha Paradise.
.
.
.
Kakashi with his back on the wall, stared at the sky that's almost unviewable inside the alleyway.
Emotion rises inside, he feels like crying. Tears stream from his face and then sigh. In the most comical way.
A terrible thing, very terrible, his book is gone, his most treasured and valuable item, is gone. And he doesn't know why!
Fortunately, he remembers it by heart, word for word, he decided to write a replica of it… sadly he cannot truly copy the true value of Jiraiya’s writing
He collected himself and went to the bench again and sat on it, mindlessly looking at the dog.
“Maaa” Kakashi utter, as he gathered enough information about heroes and villains, it appears to be that small bricks in the hands of these people are called phones which are a portable communication tool and gathering information tool.
They also have that in Konoha… but it was in Naruto's reign. He thinks, ugh headaches.
Free knowledge that's new. It’s hard to find accurate information in the Elemental Nation due to their distrust of the public. More on distrust against civilians that are actually a spy.
Although, the tension easen up after the 4th war.
He found out, courtesy to the mother who was talking to an elderly person on the phone and the teenager who was doing some assignment, typing and mumbling his answer while doing it.
The teenager appears to be alone, he has this green hair and green eyes, and keeps mumbling something.
He's really loud.
Actually Kakashi doesn’t know if the boy was answering his assignment or just gathering information like an informant. Like he was talking about some quirks, which he thinks means the Kekkei Genkai in the Elemental Nation, gathering information of how the Hero's Kekkei Genkai supposedly worked, weakness and strength of it.
Spy do those stuff, they learn the strength and weakness of the main force of Konoha, to use as leverage for their village.
And the kid is doing that, although haphazardly.
That’s one of the reasons free knowledge was not allowed in Konoha, who knows what people will do with this information. It can weaken anybody if the information was used in a wrong way or right way based on the perspective of both parties.
Anyway, the teenager was useful, for Kakashi that is. A very useful person indeed. His mumbling habits just made it easier to get information.
Now Kakashi knows some heroes' quirks and how it works. Very nice of him.
The silver haired teenager then turned his attention to the adults who were watching a moving picture… a video
He inferred that those videos are about heroes, talking about their love life and their backstory. They have no privacy, that's cool and something Kakashi doesn’t want to happen to him.
He’s a very private man, evident by the mask he is wearing, not letting a single person see his face.
It appears it can also send messages, he saw the man in front of him stop as he typed, Kakashi looked closely, he was talking to someone on the phone.
Now back to heroes and villains, these two things seem to be a profession.
Weird but okay, Kakashi is not the type to challenge a century old system, that's Naruto's job and Obito if you took the dark path.
Standing up from his bench, Kakashi started to stroll, as the dog walkers left the park leaving him alone, also to gather some information, because it's time to widen his net, he followed the crowd so he wouldn't appear weird.
Following the crowd was a safe bet, because he saw a different monstrous carriage speed fast towards him, it was fast, and flashy people followed it, they appeared to be heroes, it was obvious because the crowd was literally screaming, Heroes!
His indifferent eye looked at him and then went and followed the moving crowd.
If he didn't follow the crowd he might walk in the lane where monstrous carriages walk on. Probably not, he's not that dumb and not that inpatient. Unlike Obito and Naruto who are drastic at making decisions, they're not really a thinker, more on actions.
The teenager stopped in a line full of people. Curious what the reason may be. He stands next to the line.
He heard the chatter among the young people. Then he heard about the system of money and identification in this world.
For example this kid, who is comparing the price of a certain book that she needed for school and her favorite food that she can buy from it.
Screaming that with all that money she could buy 20 strawberry cupcakes from a certain bakery store.
Huh…
Then soon the conversation became something like that, complaining about every price and what they could buy them for.
They talk about things that are so expensive compared to these things. Even though their almost the same
That they could buy this much food at that price.
Good talk.
Feeling thankful, Kakashi prayed for the girl that she'll pass her exam and so did her friends, because this short conversation gave him a gist of the situation in this world and understood the value of money, which was known as yen in this world.
School appears to be expensive and has to be taken for a long time, not something you can graduate at the age of 12.
And not something you can take voluntarily.
Then a group of boys were heard, asking if they had their parents ID with them or someone older than them.
Strange.
Then the person suddenly said, “IDs?”
“Yeah, dumb ass, Identification, do you have it?”
The person replied with a no, the group of boys sighs.
Then suddenly one of them said he bought his brother ID and that they almost look the same, he can pass off as his older brother.
And they cheered, well, silent cheers.
Kakashi has to admit, they do not look similar, some points of his face are similar to his brother, but at glance, the silver haired teenager can see that the man in the picture was not the man in front of him.
But who knows, maybe the people here are dumber.
Soon, Kakashi found out what this line is for, this store sells porn and sex toys. The boys are here for some porn that has illustrations in it, called mangas.
Which is just his cup of tea, but he has no money so he left the place. Of course after remembering the location. For future reference.
Kakashi strolled again then stopped in a place where the word public library was displayed.
Just the right place for a person like him. Someone who doesn't know a thing and is confused with his situation.
Kakashi entered and was greeted by an old man. He nodded at them and eyesmiled. Appearing polite.
He was not asked about his IDs which he was thankful for. Because he doesn't have one.
The first thing he needs to learn, the history of this world.
By now, Kakashi has gathered that this place is an alien world, the people here have high technology and have genetic mutation that made them appear less human, maybe because they mated with an alien or something. Which reminds him of his ancestors.
But all of that is a baseless conclusion.
Passing by several rows of books until he saw a sign with History written on it.
Easy information just strolling in the Library no question or need of IDs. The security appears to be lax with only 1 person seemingly guarding the library but just chilling on their station.
He picked the first book that he saw, the words were written in familiar language. Which made him happier. But below those words, there's an unknown symbol, appearing to be a language.
He needs to learn that. The silver haired man needs to learn how to decipher that language as it may cause him problems in the long run.
Carrying the book he walks to one of the empty tables, pulls the chair he sat in and starts reading the book word by word.
In a corner of the library there's a silver haired teenager wearing a mask and thick silver hair blocking his left eye, showing only a single eye, who's too busy gazing at the book in his hand.
Like that he read the book and like a sponge he swallowed all the words and sentences. And was able to somewhat comprehend them.
Probably due to his past, being an ANBU and Hokage, one will learn how to understand information to its fullest.
Like that, time passed by. About 4 hours.
Everytime he finishes he chooses another book to read. To cross examine, if there's information that isn't written or was falsified. Also adding some books that have different topics but falls under what he should learn.
In the end, Kakashi is a person with trust issues.
The book he read turned to a small hill next to him, some students stopped in front of him and asked if they could borrow the book he had filled up, and Kakashi merely nodded.
Eyes in the book. Not straying away.
Kakashi was very fast in his reading, deciphering it and installing it in his mind.
He was not even using the sharingan gifted to him. It was supposed to be gone, but hey, he's younger so he still has the eye. Obito's eye, his gift, something he'll never lose again. He'll make sure of that.
Kakashi was never the type to show it in front of strange people.
It’s the most important piece in his body, his not taking chances for someone to steal it.
Before he had this gift, he was a prodigy, graduating in his class at the age of 6 in just a year. So, yes he can read books and he learned fast, one of the most intelligent men. Smarter than Shikamaru, but those were words Naruto said, so you have to take that with a grain of salt.
He's that smart. So, this studying was easy.
Kakashi stood up from his chair carrying the read books to place it to its rightful position, just basic courtesy, and a way to say thank you for giving him access to their country’s information. Very kind of them.
After putting all the books in their rightful place, Kakashi searches for another bundle of books.
Just as fast as he was in reading, he was also fast in putting it in the right position.
H
e checks the time, looking at the clock on the walls, high up enough for him to see… It's lunch time. He still has time to finish his reading.
He once again sat on the chair he had chosen earlier and started reading.
Time passed by and soon night came, exactly 5 o’clock he was told to leave the place, by a kind old man.
