The Last Uzumaki

The Council room, the night after the Kyuubi Attack

“I’m getting to old for this job...” Hiruzen mentally sighs as he listens to both sides of the counsel squabble with each other. “SILENCE!”

As the counsel’s arguing died down, Hiruzen went into his Third Hokage mode.

“Now I know all of us are on edge especially since we’ve lot a bit of the village, especially some loved ones. But this is not the time to act like kids on the playground arguing over toys. We must stay strong in this desperate time. Since Minato is dead I will take up the mantle of Hokage again.”

This seemed to calm them down more knowing that he would be leading them.

One of the Civilian Council Members suddenly draws attention to themself and asks, “And what happened to the fox beast?”

“Its been sealed away in a boy.”

The civilian side erupts into chaos, calling for the death of the foxes prison.

“BE QUIET!”

The outburst from Hiruzen gets them to quiet down once more, much to his relief. “I will not allow senseless killings of innocents children!”

“But Lord Third it has killed many people! Including some of our families!”

“The Kyuubi has killed some of our family but child, Naruto, has not! Naruto isn’t just some ordinary person either! He is Kushina Uzumaki’s son and possibly the last Uzumaki! I am also forbidding anyone to talk about what has happened to the Kyuubi, he should have a chance at a normal life! Meeting dissmissed!”

The civilian half of the council specifically reluctant files out. The shinobi side also reluctantly leaves, but for the reason of wanting more information about the possible last Uzumaki.

‘Why couldn’t you just let me use the Reaper Death Seal Minato?

-The Next Day-

The next day Hiruzen, back in his office doing paperwork again(seriously Minato how did you finish it so fast?) sighs as he denies another request to get rid of Naruto. “Seems like the counsel isn’t very fond of you, huh?” Rocking a sleeping Naruto’s crib. *sigh* I hope their parents prejudice against you doesn’t bleeding into their children. After working for a little while longer he hears a knock at the door. Glancing up for a second he states a, “come in” but the door doesn’t open.

“Jiraiya, I should’ve known that you’d come through the window... what more importantly, what are you doing here right now? Shouldn’t you be attending to your spy network? And how did you get here so fast?”

“What? I can drop by to see you from time to time Old Man? I’m hurt!” Suddenly dropping the playful tone for a more serious one, “I heard of what happened with the Kyuubi, They didn’t make it out, did they.”

Hiruzen nods even through it was more of a statement rather than a question. “But they still have a part of them here in this world.” Sliding his chair back a bit to show Jiraiya baby Naruto sleeping soundly. “Is this their son? Naruto?”

“It is, but how do you know his name?”

As he walked over to get a better look at Naruto, “Minato and Kushina asked me to the name Naruto after reading my book. Heh, he’s got his mother’s hair.”

“If I didn’t know any better than I’d assume you’re his grandfather!”

“I am his godfather, and with my relationship with Minato I might as well be!”

Using gentleness Hiruzen hasn’t seen Jiraiya use even with women, he picks up Naruto from his crib. “He does seem to have a particular ability I haven’t seen before either.”

“He’s already has an ability? At his age? Ha! He’s gonna grow up to be someone special! So? What’s the ability?”

“Well it’s an interesting one.” Suddenly Hiruzen throws a pen at young Naruto, shocking Jiraiya who isn’t able to block it due to him holding Naruto, watches in horror as the pen heads straight to Naruto. Before a chakra chain shoots out Naruto abruptly blocking the pen. “What In the...? What’d you do that for?! You could’ve just told me?!”

“I just wanted to show you his ability, those chains seemed to block anything before they damage him, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

As Jiraiya sets Naruto down, “I have heard of this before, the sand’s jinchuriki. Did Kushina do anything memorable?”

“She did, it almost seemed like she gave her chains to Naruto.”

“That matches pretty closely to Gaara, the sand’s jinchuriki. I heard that right before Gaara’s mother died she promised to protect her son forever. And now that same kid always has sand protecting him from getting physical hurt.”

“Kushina also promised a similar thing to Naruto. And I’ve been meaning to ask, how are you? I know you were very close to both of them.”

Jiraiya lets out a big sigh as he sits down in a chair in front of the Hokage desk. “I didn’t take it well at first, as soon as I heard about it from the Gamabunta I spent nearly the whole day trying to drink it all away. Then finally after getting sober I asked Gamaken for a ride over, I had no idea about Naruto until I saw him”

“Yes, it was an unfortunate event for all of us.”

“Well, as much as I would like to stay I did just suddenly leave in the middle of a lead I was following, so I should head back out.”

“Of course even just for a little it was good to see you again.”

“You too old man, I’ll make sure to send some gift to Naruto when I can.”

“Of course, I look forward to see what you will get him. Goodbye Jiraiya.”

“See you later Sensei.”

As Jiraiya leaves Hiruzen lets out a sigh and goes to sit back down. “How does the paperwork keep growing! No one’s come in!”

-Into the Mindscape-

‘Where am I?’ The Kyuubi wakes after being recently imprisoned into Naruto. As he looks around he sees that he’s just seems to be floating in a 6-walled cage (Naruto isn’t old enough to “think” and doesn’t have any wrongful treatment from the villagers... yet).

‘Well this at least beats being pinned to that rock. But I’m not gonna be the only one suffering’ Just before Kurama (they don’t know his name just like in the story) can slam himself into the walls of his cage to keep his jailed constantly awake, similar to his younger brother in the Land of Wind, chains come bursting out of the cell walls wrapping around him to stop him.

“Damn you Kushina! Being able to protect from beyond the grave... guess I’ll just have to wait a while longer to get out...” The great beast calms down to take a long nap.
