Fear

It was another night before they came for you, if you weren't so scared you might have been relieved. This night you had managed to find some rest, sleep coming for you aggressively in the night due to not sleeping for days before. You had been so sound that you hadn't felt yourself gently being lifted from the bed and carried through the window, the cool breeze hitting your skin was what woke you up.

The person carrying you in their arms like you weighed nothing noticed your body stiffen with consciousness, a short “hm” and subconscious tightening of their fingers let you know. Fear flooded in, the urge to fight suddenly entered your body. Where before you had been resigned to your fate, suddenly- it was as if every cell in your body was telling you:

Run.

And you did. You opened your eyes, threw a wild fist without much thought, and flug yourself out of the person's grip. Not realizing you had somehow already been carried across your family's estate and over the fence encompassing it. You fell from a tree on the limbo between forest and fence without grace, barely managing to land on your arms and legs; like some sort of diseased cat. Your limbs were screaming with pain but a vitriolic “You idiot, get her!” Made you spring into movement once more.

Adrenaline filled your body and you could suddenly see everything, even in the dim, moonlit forest. You ran as fast as your body could take you, faster than you had ever run before. You felt as if you were flying.

Around you you saw glimpses and whispers of the monsters you pictured before, spurring more fear behind your movements as you dodged trees and ducked under branches. Flashes of black and red, hulking shadows, surrounded you, and you swore you could even hear someone cackling.

Bushes and thorn vines tore at your night dress, ripping the sleeves and tattering the hem. Leaves slapped against your face and chest as your raced, trying to get away. Warm, crimson gashes were opening up all over your smooth skin but you were much too preoccupied to care about pain.

Something whizzed past your face, you kept forward. Someone dropped down to your left, you tried to turn but they grabbed you. You tried to keep running but they didn't even struggle to stay planted where they were, you shook your arm and nothing.

So you did what you could, you stomped down on the person's foot with your heel. The sudden shock and pain making them lose their grip on your arm for long enough to gain your footing again, they lunged and tried to throw their arms around you but you threw yourself away from them. You landed on the ground and unceremoniously scrambled in the dirt to get away, it worked, Just barely.

There was another person in front of you now, you nearly ran right into their shins. You were about to keep trying but an arm wrapped around your waist from behind and lifted you up. You were hanging at the side of the one you stomped the foot of, something they didn't take too kindly clearly as the more you squirmed to get away the more painfully they squeezed you.

“I'm fucking tired of this already, where's the emo and the fish?” Said the person not gripping you tight enough to bruise.

“I, for one, am offended by that nickname.” Said a deep, throaty voice. “We've been watching the show since it started, there was hardly anyone to disable at the gates.”

“That's not fair!” Said the same voice from before with a noticeably tight, whiny tone to it. “She punched me you know!”

“And you probably liked it, you creep.” Came the response, the throaty voice letting out a husky chuckle.

You thought everyone was distracted enough so you started to squirm again, raising a fist and slamming it into the dense body of the person holding you. They didn't react at all but clearly someone noticed.

“This one sure has some life in her, we almost never get to play with living people for long!” The original voice said and you could see him vaguely in the dim light leaning down to look at you, as he moved closer more of his face became visible. He was surprisingly young looking and whatever punch you threw didn't even leave a mark. You put your hands out as if to keep him away when he lifted a hand, you did not want him to touch you.

Shut up, Hidan.” Said a low, penetrating voice above you. It caused you such distress that you couldn't help but wiggle and cran your neck around wildly trying to look at the danger above you.

“You guys are scaring her, and don't forget, we were supposed to deliver her ‘untouched.’” Came a modulated voice you had not yet heard, and he is right. You are scared and you are hurting, the adrenaline is gone and now all you want to do is cry. You want to go home.

But where is home for you, who is home to you?

The figure with the modulated voice walked over to you and leaned in, his eyes were blood red, the pupils seemed to dance with far too many for a regular eye.

Before you could say anything, you lost consciousness.
