After The War
*After the 4th shinobi war*
Ayame was watching the village up in a tree. Her hair swayed in the wind. She felt at peace in the tree. The peace was too soon disturbed, as she felt a figure approaching her. She looked down to see it was one of the elder's shinobi. Ayame jumped down to greet the shinobi.
He stepped forward and greeted Ayame,
“Princess, the elders wish to speak to you, please follow me to the meeting room”. Ayame nods and silently follows him toward the kage building where the elders are waiting. Ayame stood at the meeting room entrance, her heart pounding with anticipation. The two elders, wise and venerable, had summoned her for a matter of great importance. Inside, the shinobi leads her to a small meeting room. As she stepped inside, the flickering torches cast long shadows on the ancient wall that had somehow survived the previous attack, adding to the moment's gravity. The room was quiet and on the wall, she noticed the paper seals. The seals were there to stop unauthorized people from listening in on conversations of high importance.
The room is furnished with a square table and two sofas on opposite sides of it and shelves and side tables placed by the wall. Ayame took a seat on the sofa facing the two elders whose eyes had followed her since she walked in.
“Welcome, Ayame,” Elder Haruto began, his voice resonating with authority.
“We have a crucial mission for you.” She stared at the Elders curiously, wondering what was so important that they brought her here. Before revealing why they had brought her to this room, they had made her swear on her village and clan that she would never tell a soul about what they would discuss here.
Koharu is the first to speak up,
“Princess, we have a mission for you. The details of this mission must not be shared with anyone other than one of us, not even the third or fifth Hokage”. Ayame is confused and shocked. They have a mission for her that not even her mother or grandfather knows about. The mission must be not only dangerous but also important, for them to be so secretive. She looks back at Koharu and says,
“Of course, the mission will be between us. But what kind of mission are we talking about?”
Homura then tells Ayame,
“The villages remain at peace for now, but we wish for a stronger connection between the Hidden Leaf and the Hidden Cloud.”
“Why the Cloud?” asked Ayame, “Why not a different village, like the Hidden Sand?”
Homura continues, “We already have a strong connection between Gaara the Kazekage of the Hidden Sand, and our Jinjuriki Naruto. We wish to build stronger connections between the villages to prevent future attacks on our village if the peace is broken. The obvious choice is the cloud village because of its strengths and fortune.”
Koharu spoke up, “So we want you to marry the Raikage. This is your mission to strengthen the connection between our villages through marriage.”
“But why did you choose me and not another kunoichi?” asked Ayame.
Koharu bent forward and looked at Ayame, “You are the obvious choice as the adopted granddaughter of the third Hokage and the daughter of the fifth Hokage. Also, you are a well-trained jonin of the Hidden Leaf.”
Ayame sighs. She started thinking about how she could fulfill a mission like this. Then she paused and looked up toward the elders, raising her brow, and asked.
“How the hell do I even come close to the Raikage without it being too obvious”
Ayame focused on their facial expressions, waiting for an answer. The elders looked at each other, it looked like they were having a silent conversation.
Koharu was the first to turn back to Ayame. “I think that with your status it would be fine, but you must have a task to do, something that requires you to travel and stay in the Hidden Cloud. A task that allows you to speak often to the Raikage.”
Homura cleared his throat, “Some type of work or duty for you to do that would include the Raikage, a task of sorts that must be overseen by him,” Homura points out.
But what sort of work would fill all those requirements, Ayame thought long and hard for an answer.
‘I could be a messenger? No, a messenger rarely stays in the same spot for long, so that would not be good. A secretary? No, he has a secretary. A representative? ’ Ayame furrows her brows. ‘Hmm....maybe that is a good start.’ Then suddenly she looks up with a fierce look in her eyes. The princess' eyes bore through them, but the elders did not move. They knew that she had found an answer to their mission. Ayame smirks and tells them her answer.
“I could be an ambassador representing the Hidden Leaf. With the upcoming meeting and our new alliance, we could request that the villages build an embassy in every village and send ambassadors to represent and maintain the peace between the villages. The Ambassador would of course be working with the kage of each village. This also means that there is a chance of cooperation between the two parties, meaning that they have to work closely together for some time every day. This would be my chance to come close to the Raikage.” The elders nodded to each other, the idea could work, and it would be a good excuse to send Ayame to the Cloud as one of the ambassadors.
Homura leaned back on the sofa and told he.r
“Well, then you should go and draft your case, princess, before presenting it to the rest of the council and us.” Koharu lifted her head and spoke
“This draft must be finished and presented soon.” Ayame stood up from the sofa and answered
“ Of course, I will begin to write it immediately when I arrive in my room this evening”. She bowed to the elders and smirked.
“We will make contact from time to time to see how the process is coming along”. Homura said loudly as Ayame opened the door and left.
