❤️Chapter 4❤️
Hinata Pov:
I slump down on my bed with Boruto cradled in my arms. He's playing with my hair and making happy noises. It almost makes me smile. I pull down his hood to reveal his blonde curls and take the dummy out to reveal his two whisker birthmarks.
The sign of the impure. That's not even his biggest tell sign.
"I think your better than any pure." I tell him as I pull him out of the frog onesie. I pick him up and walk into the bathroom where I can properly examine the marks on his back. It keeps getting bigger, his 'impurity'. When he was born it was just a small, blueish mandola but in just three months it's ballooned in size and colour. The mark races down his arms, falling just short of his wrist and there's now red, purple, green and black colouring on various parts of his tattoo.
"Your more amazing and beautiful then any pure Boruto, and don't let anyone tell you different." I kiss his cheeks.
I grab a fluffy towel with a hood and wrap him back up. He puts the towel over his face to my confusion and lifts it back up.
"Peeeaaaa buuuu!" He calls happily. Oh, peak a boo.
I close my own eyes this time and wait for him.
"Peeeaaaa buuuu!" He shouts. "Waaah? Maaa?"
"Where's the baby? Where's the baby?" I open my eyes and see his adorable confusion. "There he is!" I cry.
He giggles and claps his hands. I press my face to his and giggle.
"Excuse me, is anyone in here?" A man knocks on the door and I jump, startled. He walks in and immediately shuts his eyes, "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry."
"Uh, what are you doing in here?" I stammer and duck my head behind Boruto.
"I...I was uh, looking for the bathroom. What are, uh you doing here?" He stammers back.
"This is my bathroom. I was playing peak a boo with my baby. Uh, bathrooms are down my stairs, past the community crib and left of the speakers." I reply, my face is absolutely burning now.
"Uh, thanks." He scratches the back of his head embarrassed. I peak out from behind Boruto and examine my unexpected guest.
His eyes light up knowingly and he points to Boruto's uncovered arm. "Nice tattoo." I quickly cover it up and send him a hard glare. He raises his hand in surrender before pointing to his wrist.
"Don't freak out, I'm not like some other people. I've got one too." Slowly I walk forward to examine his wrist. A green spiral.
"It goes all the way up my arm, only stopping at my collarbone. To date, I'm the most marked 'impure'." He rolls his eyes at the nickname.
Mentally, I snort. He's got nothing on Boruto's marks.
"I'm a researcher on impure marks, we normally call them transcend marks." He explains.
I nod slowly. "Uh, you should be going now."
"Oh, um, yeah. But wait can I meet with you two again? I'd love to get to know you and his marks are very interesting."
I mean, this could be a good opportunity to learn more about Boruto's mark.
"We can talk in my lounge room. Talk only." I make that point very clear.
He smiles widely. I give him a small one in return and shoo him out.
I don't want to put my back to him. "Second door on the right."
The lounge room connects to my small kitchenette as well as a tiny storage room that I keep a baseball bat in so I know I can protect myself, especially since my quantum mite dispenser is a little on the useless side. Quantum mite dispensers were created during the twenty-fifth century when a young scientist had discovered the quantum metals reacted to electro magnetic pulses (EMPs).The new (or now old) technology has pioneered many ways of discovery and is the building block of many designs.
"Can you excuse me for a moment, I need to dress him." I ask.
The man smiles and nods, "of course."
I return to my room and quickly redress him in his frog onesie.
"Best behaviour, Boruto." I order. He kicks his feet out and waves his hand in the air excitedly.
"Good boy." I giggle and replace his dummy in his mouth and head back to the lounge room.
The man has taken a seat on the armchair closest to the door making it awkward to pass and sends a small warning light in my head. I ignore it though in favour of finding out the truth behind my son's marks. I place him in his rocking chair and strap him in, "Sleep now, honey." He closes his eyes almost automatically and I lightly rock the chair so he stays asleep.
"So, what do you know of the transcend marks?" He asks when I finally sit down on the loveseat.
"Not much. Just that their sort of a remnant from the past when we could control our chakra. They appear in people who have the potential to use it. Umm, I think humans started losing the ability when we focused on research and development of technology." I answer, threading through all the history lessons and theories I've read.
He nods, "that's good. Better than most people would be able to say. You are in fact correct. Transcend marks signify that the supposedly repressed chakra genes are awakening."
So, my little boy has accessed his gifts early? So much like Naruto-kun...
Stop it Hinata! Stop thinking about him. He hates me! Just...just stop. Think of Boruto's future.
A small pressure on my index finger makes me look at Boruto. He's holding onto it tightly like I may disappear if he let's go.
Aww, I stroke his cheek with my free hand in comfort. I think it's happening again.
Every few days he awakes with pains because his marks were growing. Today's no different and it hurts.
Poor baby. I hope he can sleep it off.
"Is everything alright?" My guest asks. I snap back into focus and nod pasting a fake smile in my face.
"Of course, Mr...sorry what's your name?" I ask feeling silly.
Common manners Hinata, I scold myself.
The man smiles kindly, "I'm Toneri Otsutsuki." He grins. "Shall we continue our talk Ms Huyga?"
Holy hell. The warning bells are whack and pedaling over time. He knows my name. How?
"Uh, actually...umm didn't you need to go to the bathroom." I ask picking Boruto up. He squirms to get comfortable while Toneri observes us.
He sighs deeply and stands up. He has a slight hunch but he's already dominating the space and the height distance between us is ridiculous.
"I really didn't want it to come to this." He holds out his hand and a nanite gun forms. There's no surviving that. Once the bullet enters the blood stream the nano mites will disperse and start eating, for lack of better word, through the skin.
"Your coming with me, Ms Hinata Huyga."
