14 - Daddy's Girl
Sakura is starting to get worried about Naruto as October comes to an end. The head Uchiha family is a staple in her home and vice versa. She sees them constantly. And while the adults never talk about anything with the children in the room, she has enough experience as a 21-year-old baby to know something unprecedented has happened.
But considering she has not once woken up to the screams of the damned and waves of corroded chakra, Sakura is pretty confident that Kurama has not been let loose upon the village in a controlled take over.
The trees have not been helpful aside from confirming that, ‘Yes, the village is safe, seedling.’ and ‘No, orange one is not in danger.’
(She adamantly does not think about how and why she can hear the trees. Because that would mean mokuton and she's pretty sure)
Which is great for her nerves but terrible for her desire to see her first soul brother.
Sakura wiggles in her spot atop her papa, who decided to join her below her favorite akebono tree. He had been reading to her as he patted her back, possibly trying to get her to sleep since she had been fussy the last few weeks.
“Little blossom,” Kizashi calls gently, holding her so he can sit up. His navy blue eyes stare into her beryl ones intensely, “I know you miss Sasuke-chan. He’ll be back soon. I promise.”
She coos at him, swinging her arms to and fro.
“I never thanked you, Sacchan…” His voice is low but reverent as he maintains eye contact with her.
Sakura chews on her fist and blinks. She knows her confusion is apparent, even as a baby because her papa laughs.
“I thought I would never find one of my Unmei no hito… I thought I was blessed just to find my Unmei no ai.”
Sakura grumbles as she furrows her brow, Unmei no hito? Ai?
Kizashi gives her a wry smile before he kisses both her cheeks, “I’ll tell you when you’re older.” The older rosette teases.
She blows a raspberry at him and bounces in his grip.
He laughs some more, “Thank you, Little Blossom. I don’t know how you knew or did it. But you connected a line I thought would stay dead. It gives me hope to find the rest one day. Especially since you have already seemed convinced that you found yours.”
Sakura grunts and smacks her fist at his chin, tired of his cryptic words and in general. The trees refuse to tell her anything and sing lullabies instead. The same one her father seems to be humming.
This time she falls asleep with her cheek pressed to his clavicle and dreams of blue skies.
