9 - Magic Touch

As they were ushered inside, Sakura’s cries were thunderous, her face red and blotchy. Mebuki and Kizashi were shell-shocked, to say the least. Fugaku and Minato were staring with grimaces, probably drawing their own conclusions. Mikoto and Kushina had crowded Mebuki, who had taken Sakura out of her sling and was bouncing her. Mebuki was quick to hand her to Kaede, one of the few people who could calm the rosettes’ tantrums.

All three women cooed over Sakura. Fret overtaking their faces. Kizashi had moved over to the men, shaking Minato’s hand and clapping Fugaku on the back. The men knew each other, all having been on active duty together at one point, even if Kizashi was older than them both by a few years.

“Come on Fugaku-chan! Lighten up! Once my tenshi calms down, I’m sure she’ll melt your icy heart!” The magenta man roared with a laugh.

Senpai..” Fugaku grits out.

The Yondaime choked and smothered his snicker. Fugaku’s glare was murderous and spoke volumes to how little he cared about treason at the moment.

Sakura was shaking her head and quieted down to sniffles and through her tears, turned around to stare at Mikoto and Kushina. Mikoto smiled at her and Kushina wore a worried grimace as if nervous.

I don’t like that look on her face.

“MM!” Sakura tried pushing away from her brother and Mebuki, long used to Sakura’s behavior, picked her up and turned her around. Mebuki sat on a zabutan and held Sakura in her lap, facing the other women. She used a tissue, handed to her by Mikoto, to gently wipe Sakura’s tear-stained face.

“Sacchan.. My baby.. Mad we woke you up from your nap?” Mebuki cooed, “I’m sorry honey. But do you remember that nice lady you pestered?”

Sakura did in fact remember Uchiha Mikoto but her peridot eyes were glued to Kushina. As much as she wanted to see a newborn Sasuke, her focus was on the redhead. A thumb was being gnawed on and her other fist was clenching her mama’s finger. Using more energy than she’s proud to admit, she released her thumb and made a grabbing motion at Kushina.

“Mmmm!” She grunted.

For some reason, her mother gripped her harder and Mikoto stiffened.

“Sacchan..” Mebuki started and Sakura knew she was going to tell her no. She instantly began wriggling in her grasp when Mikoto shocked her. She didn’t stop her wiggling though.

“Nee-sama.. I think it’s ok.” Mikoto had said. Mebuki stared at her.

“What!?!” The blonde hissed. The men were watching, wary and ready for action. They all knew what happened when Mikoto held Sakura. What they didn’t tell the Harunos though, was that Mikoto had the easiest birth ever with Sasuke a week later and healed from the birth in record time.

Mikoto fidgeted, “When Sakura-chan… did what she did, Sasu-chan stopped fussing and my back pain all but disappeared. The hospital said my birth was the easiest they’ve done in ages and my recuperation period broke records.

Sakura is not surprised at this, she’s the world’s best Iryō-nin, her chakra, let alone medical chakra, could create miracles, even when not directed at something. Tsunade trained her as such. Though she is slightly embarrassed to know she had subconsciously released some when she hugged the matriarch weeks ago.

Mebuki’s eyes widened, and her grip loosened. Sakura, seizing her opportunity, slid from her mama’s lap and tumbled face-first into the ground. She adamantly did not cry. All eyes were on the Uchiha and the Haruno Matriarch.

“What.. what do you mean?” She asked hesitantly. She turned to look at the furrowed look on the Hokage’s face and Fugaku’s extremely stern face.

“Medical chakra.” Her Hokage said.

Mebuki, coming back to herself and recognizing her blunder, “Hokage-sama-”

He raised a hand, “At ease Mebuki-san. I’m not here for a mission. Mikoto was just bragging about it to Kushina and it made me curious.”

There was silence as the Haruno couple tried to take in their Hokage’s words and the implication behind what he said about their daughter. Kaede is the only Haruno not in the room, having gone outside to talk to the other boys he had sensed.

They were all so focused on the tension, that none had realized Sakura was crawling to Kushina. She had the same grimace and worried look in her eyes, but her smile was wobbly.

Sakura’s fists, still not coordinated enough, could only tap on the woman’s thighs.

Sakura lifted her head to stare into the woman’s violet eyes. Her eyes were wary and worried but Sakura was determined. She gurgled happily, her gummy mouth visible through her smile.

Hesitant, the second kyūbi jinchūriki picked up Sakura and held her out at arm's length.

“Grrr~” Sakura made a displeased noise at being held so far away. All eyes turned back to the two immediately. Mebuki sat up and looked ready to take Sakura back for fear of the repercussions.

Sakura just kicked her feet out and made a grabby motion with her hands. Kushina, painfully slowly, brought Sakura to her chest. Resting her weight slightly on her bulging stomach, much like Mikoto had done. Sakura took in a deep breath and held back from crying all over again as she settled against the woman.

Ramen, wind, seawater, and the sun on a clear day. All things that make Naruto and Kurama who they are. The rosette sighed and nuzzled into the redhead's bosom, desperately seeking comfort in the smell that reminded her of her first brother.

This time, because she was definitely awake and not at all drowsy, she noticed it immediately. Her chakra, which she’s always had iron control over, and suppressed through willpower alone (nothing good came from a civilian baby having that much chakra), seeped out of her in the familiar way it did when she used to use it to heal, and into Kushina.

But that wasn’t what shocked Sakura, no, it was the extra bit in her chakra that did.

I know that chakra. That’s the Sage’s chakra. His pure senjutsu…

Sakura was immediately taken back to the moments when her brother walked her through the libraries and great halls. Explaining Ninshu and the Sage of Six Paths. Ringed purple eyes flash in her mind and Inner, shuts those images away, in the back of her mind. She was currently more interested in Kushina’s relaxed exhale and loosened posture. Like she had been holding in some tension. Sakura continued to nuzzle the woman's chest, noticing immediately that Kurama’s signature, which had been wild (like at the beginning for Naruto), had calmed down and was practically purring.

Ah… He would definitely recognize his father's signature or something similar anywhere. If my hypothesis is right.

She didn’t know why, but she could feel Kurama’s purring intimately as if he was right next to her. The sound lulled her to sleep despite wanting to listen more to the adults. She realized immediately that this meeting with Kushina was definitely planned, if last minute.
