Recovery

Kagami sucks in a pained gasp as she takes another step forward, hands white knuckled around bars on either side of her as she shakily walks.

“I’m going to kill whoever invented physical therapy”
As she debates the best way to murder a dead person, she slowly works her way to the end of the bars. Which is farther than she’s ever gotten in the few weeks she's been regaining her muscle mass and weight. Afterall there is only so much a person can do in the hospital other than drown in sorrows or work their ass off to get back in shape.

Kagami opted for the second choice because she is well aware that if she dwells on her situation, she will lose control. And an Uchiha who lost their loved ones? Well, Madara Uchiha already demonstrated the aftereffects of that.
Plus, the faster she gets better the faster she can start to investigate the massacre, do burial rites that she doubts Sasuke knows.

Her clansmen deserve to be burned in honor of Ameratsu, not buried in the ground and left to rot. She’ll of course however allow Sasuke to help because the young clan heir- a child should have that closure. Because no child should have to shoulder the weight of his entire clan getting slaughtered.

Slaughtered by a family member at that, a fact she refused to believe. Because even if it had been years Itachi was always sweet and children do not hide who they truly are, and no one changes like that in the blink of an eye.

“Kagami-chan amazing job! We can finally move onto the next stage of your therapy next session”

Chiori’s words pull Kagami from her thoughts and the woman shakes her head as she realizes she finally managed to walk all the way to the end of the bars. She shoots a shaky smile towards Chiori as she hobbles over to the wall to grab her crutches and sets them beneath her arms.

The other woman, Chiori is her assigned physical therapist and Kagami found herself surprisingly attached to the woman. Perhaps it's because the Yamanaka reminds her so much of Inori-sensei. Or maybe it's just how kind the older woman is, talking to Kagami when the silence of her mind becomes too much or memories of a war long since ended to all but her plague her mind.

“Thanks, Chiori-san"

She says softly as she slowly hobbles through the halls next to the other in the direction of her room. Kagami feels the hairs on the back of her neck stand up with the stares trained on her. She looks like an Uchiha and wears the clan symbol on her earrings however it's still unnerving and pressing her instincts in all the wrong ways.

With a sigh she walks in her designated room after waving goodbye to Chiori and sits down on the thin mattress, setting her crutches down next to herself.

“I’m going to get to the bottom of this kyodai”

She speaks out into the silence of the room before pushing herself up into a meditative position and beginning to circulate chakra through her body. Her chakra veins had shrunk in the years of zero usage so now she has to regrow her chakra system basically. But she should be able to call on her summons soon which would be a great comfort and would mean she could talk to someone other than Chiori.

Though Ichika is likely to scold her as soon as she summons the wolf, Kagami has been prepping herself for the inevitable. Also, Kagami is not going to summon Kaisen along with Ichika because she’s already going to be mothered enough by her wolves. But she may do it soon because she misses her summons and would like to update them on her state because last, they know she passed out from chakra exhaustion. At least as far as she remembers, which honestly isn’t much because that mission was a blur

Internally she wonders if her younger brother ended up signing the Crow summon scroll like he wanted to. Kagami hopes he did because that means he could still talk to Kaisen, meaning he still had a piece of her left other than her tanto.

“Ugh”

Kagami groans aloud as she pushes away her wandering thoughts, not wanting to get lost in memories. As wandering hands moving through her hair, raking through the thick locks as she braids it with deadly efficiency before undoing it, she thinks.

The faster she recovers the better in her mind because she would love to go back to active duty, sitting around all day is not good for her mental health. Which wasn’t the best to begin with and she was mainly being kept sane by her family, yay. Though the fact that she has to get reevaluated is annoying if understandable. It's been years since she was on active duty, and she has only been awake for a few weeks after a multi-year coma.

Kagami sighs once again a habit that has increased in the recent weeks as she woman brings her thumb up to her mouth and bites down with sharp canines to break the skin. She makes hand seals long since ingrained her body before speaking aloud, her voice thankfully no longer lost to years of disuse.

“Kuriyose no jutsu”

She whispers out as she channels her chakra and in a puff of smoke suddenly a large wolf is standing in the room. Kaga- Asuka's breath catches in her throat as she gazes at the summons and her hands drop into her lap.
