Feeling something hit me knocking me back I chuckle getting up while grabbing my titanium fence piece and turn to face her "just to be clear, I may have chosen to not fight like I did in my past, but that does not mean I have stopped training to keep my skills in top condition" I hiss.

Seeing her wings flare out I smirk before she spins trying to hit me, ducking I quickly move to miss the hit but frown seeing the watery texture to her appearance, while the changes to her physical appearance remind me of coral almost.

Getting hit in my distracted moment I jump up using my tentacles to wrap around her wings when she comes back, yanking them backwards I hear her muffled cry of pain, lifting the fence piece I quickly bring it down catching the mask in the process.

Hearing it crack before falling off I grab it while yanking her head back "I don't get the obsession with this stupid thing or why you insist on it looking similar to plague masks" I grunt looking at it while tightening my hold on her when she tries to get free.

"You dare challenge the Black God" she rasps out when my tentacle moves around her throat tightening enough to make her stop struggling.

Humming I keep my eyes on the mask looking it over closely "humans have given praise to so many gods over the years, many are obviously the same person with a different name but causes wars and hate, sea people have had the same ones since the very beginning of our people. We fight and hate but never for something as pathetic as religion" I say completely unfazed by her anger believing I'm challenging her beliefs.

Turning to look at her I freeze up but keep my grip on her "I know you" I mutter.

Seeing her glare at me I grit my teeth before lifting her and throwing her away from me to keep space between us "you pray to a God to save your daughter, yet you have lost sight of how to teach them you've neglected one's needs, leave now, I will not look upon the face of a liar that has become a false mother" I snap.

Seeing her freeze up I snarl causing the water from the water fall to rise up till it towers over me, her eyes widen before she steps backwards when I move forward "she's my daughter".

Snarling I cause water to shoot forward hitting her and knocking her back "then find the woman willing to die for her child, if you return and continue to be this false mother you will lose Donna" I roar.

Seeing her leave looking terrified I take a deep breath then turn heading for the house finding Donna hidden in the shadows by the door with all her dolls set up "Donna?" I ask.

"You're leaving?" She asks fidgeting.

"Not right now, but when I do you will come with me, I'll never leave you behind" I say softly while walking closer.

Feeling her hug me tightly I stand there holding her for a few moments "do you know how your mother was contaminated or met the black god?" I ask.

"I keep telling you we were chosen, like you, not contaminated" she mutters.

"We just have different views on this Donna"

"Mother says the Black God answered her prayers they were stolen away in the night by a priest and brought before her for judgement, once she passed judgment the Black God gifted them with the cadou, Eva got a small amount that kept her alive and as she grew her powers became stronger"

I nod moving us to the couch "okay, so basically she faced judgement and was helped?" I ask.

"Yes, but the Black God left mother a piece of the Cadou making mother her chosen priestess, she kept and protect it and the Black God allowed it to continue growing, eventually she gave us the gifts because Eva wanted siblings and she needed help with the village, Alcina was dying from a blood disease, I was going to join my parents after Claudia died but mother stopped me"

"What about Alcina's daughters?" I ask.

"They were maids working for Alcina, one day her castle was attacked because of rumors spread by maids, they tried to stop the people and ended up being dragged out the villagers planned to burn them, but we helped them. I caused the people to become blind while mother and Alcina freed them, Eva set the lycans loose on those who caused the problem and the ones who led the attack, Mother gave them a cadou for their loyalty and the Black God blessed them before giving Alcina what she had been praying for after years of devotion"

"What about you? I'm sure you asked for something"

"She gave me the power to fill my home with friends, and blessed Angie to live till she could find the perfect person to be my friend so I'm not alone anymore, she sent you, my perfect friend I just never knew she was looking for someone else"

"Why the bird mask?" I finally ask.

"The Black God appeared before Mother with a plague mask, it's like the prayer says in life and death, she is life and death she gives life or takes it"

Swallowing I nod looking at my hands "Donna, I fear I must apologize to you".

"Why?"

"I told you about what I did during the Spanish flu, but I've recently learned the Mother and child I helped was Miranda and Eva, I didn't know that I dropped a piece of the contamination after giving them some, by my own selfish desires to see less death I caused her to start this religion and unknowingly cursed yourself, Alcina and her daughters to a contaminated life, forced to watch time pass and loved one to pass while you're stuck in place".

Miranda pov

Letting myself into Alcina's office I drop in her chair breathing heavily "only one person would know that now outside of my family" I mutter feeling panicked.

Sitting there I shiver realizing that she's planning to take Donna away for not being the mother I was with Eva before she chose me "oh no, I attacked her, I attacked the Black God and challenged her" I gasp dropping my head in my hands.

Hearing the door open I keep my head down unwilling to look at Alcina, I know my daughter will see something's wrong the moment she sees me anyways.

"Mother what's wrong?" She asks coming over placing her hand on my back.

"Alcina, I've angered the Black God, she will punish me and I have no idea how to repent for it or appease her" I mutter.

"Mother, you're her chosen priestess I doubt it's as bad as you believe"

Sighing I lift my head and take her large hand in mine gently squeezing "Alcina, she returned to the village she's been walking among us and she spoke to me today".

Seeing her frown I shake my head "the outsider is the form she's chosen to take, today she hinted something only our family would know outside of her, that I begged for Eva's life, she says either I find the mother I was before being chosen or she's taking Donna".

Seeing her stiffen I wipe my eyes "have I truly lost my way as a mother? She blessed me for being willing to die for my child I thought I was still the person she picked me for, I devoted my life to her and my family I've done everything to make sure you all are happy while teaching you about her, why does she believe I've failed? And just to make things worse I attacked her".

Alcina shakes her head looking panicked "Mother, I attacked her to, she could take my daughters" she says looking around nervously.
