Un Feliz Nuevo Día en el Infierno (Charlie)

Another happy day in hell! I’m so excited that I can’t seem to contain myself! Another day to try and redeem sinners!

Oh! And that means more bonding activities to try out! I cannot wait! Ah!!!

I seemed to be so excited that I didn’t seem to notice the other people coming down to the lobby, looking less than excited and more like tired shit. I guess I did get up and squealed more loudly in the morning than usual.

I guess I just feel like something different is going to happen soon.

The first to appear was Vaggie! Even though she looked really tired and wasn’t really much of a morning person like me, she smiled as she saw me all excited.

“You’re in a good mood.” Vaggie commented, kissing my cheek.

I couldn’t help but get more excited after that, “Of course I am! Brand new day meaning brand new opportunities! And I don’t know, I feel like something might happen at any moment! And I know it’s going to be good!” I announced enthusiastically.

Before she could say anything, someone else came in with a long yawn.

“What’s with all the noise?” said Angel dust, stretching his long limbs, “Not everyone is a morning person like you, toots.”

Then came Husk and Niffty. Though, Husk seems to be so asleep that he fell forward from exhaustion and just kept snoring. And Niffty was… just being Niffty.

“Nggghhghhhh….” Husk said, mumbling incoherent words that nobody was understanding from having his face smooshed on the floor.

“Whelp, Husk is out like a light.” commented Angel as he went to the couch and got on it with even more tiredness than Husk, “And while you’re doing whatever uplifting thing you’re planning, I’m taking a nap.”

Nifty just kept scurrying away at finding more roaches for her collection.

Then that just leaves Alastor. But I guess he had other things in mind than helping me with activities. As much as I appreciate his contribution to helping the hotel, I don’t think his suggestions would be… appropriate to use.

“Well, I guess that leaves just you and me now, Vaggie.” I said, facing my girlfriend. Though, she didn’t seem to be paying attention as she had a wistful look in thought as she sat down on a nearby chair, “Vaggie?”

Blinking out of her daze, Vaggie seemed to have been not paying attention at all. Which was strange since she’s always alert, “Sorry, uh… what?”

That just left me a bit more nervous, “Are you sure you’re alright? Does it have to do with the dream you had last night?”

The questions must have scared her, as her expression flashed of nervousness for a moment, “I… yeah. It does… I don’t know, something about it is still nagging me and all that.”

I guess that’s reasonable. She didn’t tell me what it was about but it’s always good to talk if she needs it, “Well, would you be up for telling me about that nightmare? Maybe talking about it would help.”

Vaggie thought about it for a moment and said “I guess it wouldn’t hurt.”

I sat next to her, looking determined to help my girlfriend’s troubles, “Now, is there anything that you recall? Or anything that might be comfortable to describe?”

“Well,” Vaggie rubbed her chin in thought, “I remember being in a building that seemed to be a house was crumbling. And for some reason it was some place… familiar… but I don’t know where? I don’t know, it felt familiar, like I should know but there’s a gap in my brain that won’t let me.”

“That’s strange.” Why would it somehow seem familiar yet not?

“It was.” Vaggie agreed and then continued, “But anyways, despite the house coming down, was not running away, but running to get something from above the roof.”

Worriness caught me even though it was a dream, “Why would you run towards the danger?!”

“It’s a dream, babe. They're not supposed to make sense.” she said, chucking, “But I just felt like doing it, I guess. A reason that… seems to be really confusing to me at the time. Like, feeling some sense to prove myself?”

Now, that got me really worried! Vaggie always has a habit of thinking that she’s not worth it and it always makes me sad of how she doesn’t see that she was already enough. The whole process just breaks my heart! And as a supportive girlfriend, it’s my responsibility to make sure Vaggie’s alright!

“Vaggie, does any of this have to do with…” I trailed off, not knowing how to bring that up as the topic was… touchy.

Getting what I was saying, she shrugged and wasn’t really bothered by it, “Maybe… but how would that work? I mean, in my dream there were people there that I never met before but… somehow feel like I recognize them from somewhere as well. Urgh, this is so confusing!”

Due to her frustration, I placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, “Hey now. I’m sure it would make sense to you soon. You have all the time you need.”

Settling the words in, Vaggie let out a breath and smiled gratefully, “Thanks, Charlie.” she continued her story, “But as I was saying, I was trying to get a candle from the roof. Don’t ask me why I was trying to reach for a candle, I have no idea either. But I just did. And the people in my dream were worried for me and tried to stop me, but I ignored them.”

As Vaggie was retelling the events of her nightmare, she kept looking down in thought. I didn’t know if she should stop, but perhaps this should be best. When I was young, talking to my dad whenever I had a nightmare always helps.

And that was probably what Vaggie needed.

“And when I finally managed to grab the candle, I started falling down to the ground. And then before I knew it I…” Vaggie frowned, “I saw the tower of the house falling down on me and… that was when I woke up.”

Immediately, I rushed to her hug tightly, “Oh, Vaggie. Dream or not, it must have been terrifying.” Okay thinking about it for a moment, Vaggie was a former exorcist and there have been much scarier things she’s witnessed, but still!

Though seemingly squished, Vaggie hugged back, “Thanks, Chars. It felt nice talking about what had happened. I actually feel a lot better.”

I smiled brightly at that, knowing that I helped Vaggie with her problem. “Glad I could help!”

Then I had the most extraordinary idea!

“That’s it!” I jumped up from the excitement, startling my girlfriend, “Sorry, Vags. But I just got an idea!”

Vaggie raised a peculiar brow, “What is it?”

“Our next bonding activity! Talking about dreams! We can maybe start by getting everyone writing about a dream they might have! Whether a pleasant dream to write about or a nightmare to get out of their chest. And if they feel like it, they can share it with everyone else!” I exclaimed, feeling absolutely excited. It was perfect!

Vaggie hummed at the idea and smiled, “I guess it could work.”

Hearing her say that just makes me even more excited, “I can’t wait! I’m going to get the papers! Oh, and pencils!”

But before I could do so, I looked back at Vaggie, “Hey about the dream…” I didn’t want to push, but Vaggie nodded, saying that it was fine, “Those it… have to do with how you got to Heaven? I mean, I don’t know if you’re a winner or a heavenborn- I mean you don’t really have to-”

“It’s fine.” Vaggie said, giving me a reassuring smile, “And to be honest… I don’t really know.”

I gave a confused look, “You don’t?”

Vaggie shook her head, “The earliest memory I could remember was the time I appeared in heaven and in front of me were… them .” with the hate in her tone, I could tell who she was talking about, “But they never did mention where I came from. Where exorcists come from.”

“And… Do you think you’re Heavenborn?”

“I’m…” Vaggie thought about the question more thoroughly, as if she wasn’t sure herself, “I don’t think so.”

This was confusing for sure. No wonder she’s worked up about it. But even if she can’t get answers soon, that doesn’t mean that I won’t help.

“I’m sure you’ll figure it out. I know you can!” I said, genuinely with an encouraging wide smiling face.

Vaggie couldn’t help but smile back, “I hope so.”

As we got up and started looking for supplies for the next activity, I made myself a plan. I was going to help Vaggie in whatever I can in discovering her past. Whether good or bad, I’ll make sure to be there for her no matter what.

If she needs answers, I’ll find some way. If it’s bothering her, I’ll make sure to give her loads of comfort I can to cheer her up!

For her, I’ll help. No matter what it takes. Because she deserves it more than anything.
