Evan was woken up by Regulus. The other boy was yelling at Barty. Evan sat up in his bed looking over to them, before erupting in laughter. Regulus was lying on the floor. Barty stood in front of the bed with a grin. Regulus looked over to Evan flipping him off.
That made Evan laugh even more.
"Come ooonnn don't be so grumpy Reg, it's Christmas!!"
Barty said jumping around in the dorm like a Child.

Evan smiled at Barty. Barty always got excited over Christmas, and Evan found it, even if he would never say it out loud, absolutely cute.

Regulus stood up from the floor. He walked into the bathroom but not before flipping Barty off once again.

Evan was still sitting in his bed, grinning. Barty came over to him. The other boy let himself fall on Evans's bed, his head in Evans's lap.
Evan tried calming down his racing heart as his hand tangled with Barty's hair. The boy smiled up at him.
"Aanddd excited for Christmas?"
Evan chuckled.
"Not as much as you"

Barty wanted to respond but Regulus walked out of the bathroom.
Regulus looked at them. He looked at Evan raising an eyebrow. Evan looked away, though his hand never stopped playing with Barty's hair.
"Are we going to breakfast now?"
Barty immediately stood up.
Evan followed yawning.

On the way to the great hall, it was quiet. Not many students were up yet. Understandable it was Christmas morning. Many people had gone home over Christmas.
As they entered the great hall, the only people already sitting there were the marauders.
Lupin looked like he was also dragged along like Regulus.
The Potter boy noticed them and smiled widely at them. Regulus looked away, a small blush creeping onto his face.

Evan nudged Barty so that he would notice it. Barty immediately began smirking.
"Ohh Reggiee got it bad for the potter boy, no?"
He said maybe a bit louder than necessary.
Regulus eyes widened and he shushed Barty.
"Shut up Barty, we both know you're no better"
Bartys smirk flattered.
Huh?
Evan looked at them confused, but he decided not to mention it further.

They started eating. They didn't have to wait on the others. Pandora had been going home, their parents wanted to talk to her. Evan didn't want to know what about, but he feared it was exactly as he thought...
Dorcas normally would have stayed with them but her girlfriend had asked her to come with her to meet her family.
Evan liked McKinnon. It took a bit, but now he found them, though he'd never admit it, kinda cute together.

When they finished breakfast, they made their way back to the common room.
Not many Slytherins stayed over the holiday. Most of their family wanted them to come over.
The three of them sat down on the couches.
"Gifts?" Barty asked, his eyes widened in excitement.

They all gathered their gifts for the other ones. Neither of them had gotten gifts from their family, so there wasn't much to open. Evan was nervous about what the other boys would think of his gifts.

Regulus got his gifts first.
From Barty, he got some muggle poetry books.
Regulus looked at him, surprised.
"Where did you get them?"
Barty smirked. "Secret"

Evan got Regulus a few pieces of jewellery. Since the boy was out of this house he could wear whatever he wanted.

Now it was Evans's turn. Regulus handed him a sweater and some sweets. He thanked him.
Then it was Bartys turn. Barty handed him a little box. Evan looked at him.
"Open it .."
Evan opened the box. In there was a ring. The ring was shaped like a shark. Evan looked at the ring in detail. It was beautiful.

"Thanks, bee, it's beautiful."
Barty just murred something looking away.
Evan slipped the ring on his finger.
"Your turn bee"

Bartys eyes immediately sparked. "Yess"
Regulus handed him a sketchbook and some new pencils. Not many people knew how much Barty loved to draw. But those who knew, only Regulus and Evan, could see how much he loved it.

Barty smiled widely. "Thanks, Reggie"
Then he pulled Regulus in a hug.
Evan looked at them chuckling. Regulus flipped him off. "Give him your gift then"

Evan got nervous. He always was. What if Barty didn't like his gift? What if-?
"Stop overthinking Rosie"
Evan looked up. Rosie...
His heart fluttered at the nickname. He handed Barty the two packages.

"Yeah yeah here"
Barty grinned opening the first one. He pulled out a raccoon. A crochet racoon.
Evan had made it over the holiday when all he could do was hide in his room, hoping no one wanted to talk to him. Evan loved seeing the way Barty smiled at his gift. Barty hugged the racoon.

Regulus looked at him. Evan looked away in a way that said: 'Leave me alone'.
Barty was obviously happy about the gift.
"Thank you thank you thank you"
Barty hugged Evan.
"You like it?"
"Like it? I love it Rosie, that's the best Christmas gift ever!"
Evan smiled at the nickname.

"Yeah yeah whatever.. open the other one"
Barty looked surprised.
"Oh right I forgot about that"
Evan chuckled. He looked nervously as Barty opened the second one.
Barty pulled the necklace out of the box.
He held it in front of his face, looking at it. Evan couldn't read him at that moment. Did he find it weird?

"It's beautiful..."
Oh? Well, that was not what Evan had expected. The necklace was silver, it had a little charm on it. The charm was formed like a knife, and on the back was written:

B&E

"Yeah... Don't make a big deal out of it."
Barty grinned. He hugged Evan again, and Evan felt like he might die.
Regulus watched them with an amused expression.

They stayed like this for a while till Regulus spoke up.
"I'm out. Do whatever you want... no, wait, don't do anything I wouldn't."
With that, he was gone, were to? Evan had no idea.

"Soo what are we doing now?" Evan asked.
Barty shrugged.
"Well okay... I'm getting my book if you don't mind then"
"Sure"
Evan walked towards their dorm. He looked around for his book. When he finally found it, he walked back down. From the stairs, he could see Barty sitting on a couch, his old sketchbook in his hand. It looked like he was drawing onto the last page. Evan walked quietly closer to Barty.
Barty had never let him take a look in the sketchbook. Why? He had no idea.

He walked over silently, now standing behind Barty. He made a surprised noise.
Barty immediately shut the book closed and turned around, a slight blush creeping on his face.
"Was... Was that me?"
Barty's face turned even more red.
"Nuh uh..."
"Yuh uh. I saw it"
"Nuh uh..." Barty shook his head.

Evan was still shocked. Barty had drawn him.. him?
"Come on.. show me"
Barty seemed to have realised he had no chance anymore. He handed Evan the book, hiding his face in his knees.

Evan walked around the couch, sitting down beside Barty. He opened the sketchbook somewhere in the middle.
Oh? That was him.. again?
He turned the pages, seeing more sketches of him. Barty had drawn him quite often.
He looked up to Barty, whose face was bright red.

"Hey..."
"No... Leave it Evan."
"No, no, I'm not going to leave it... Why? Why did you draw me so often?"

Barty looked up.
"You.. you don't know?"
"What? I genuinely have no idea what you talking about.."
"It doesn't matter then..."
Evan was confused. He looked at Barty.

"Come on, Barty, just tell me."
Barty seemed to be a bit frustrated.
"Cause I bloody like you, you idiot"

Evan froze. He couldn't believe what had just left Barty's mouth. The words Evan had wanted to hear for months.
Barty seemed anxious. "Look I- I'm sorry we can just forget that...?"

Evan finally caught himself.
"No..." He smiled. He pulled Barty closer to him.
"I like you too idiot"

Barty took a moment to realise. "Wait really?"
Evan smiled. "Yeah.."
Barty chuckled. "We're idiots, aren't we?"
"Yeah.. but I'd like to kiss that idiot in front of me right now"
Barty smiled even wider.
"Oh please do so"

Evan smiled, pulling Barty close and connecting their lips into a sweet kiss. When they pulled away from eachother, both of them were smiling.
"That's the best Christmas gift ever" Barty said.
Evan chuckled.
"I thought the racoon was the best?"
"Equally, it's both from you, for me soo..."
Evan smiled.
"You really are an idiot"
"Yeah but I'm your idiot"
Evan shook his head grinning.
"Yeah... My idiot"
