feeling like a grandchild

The dorm was quiet.

And then it wasn't.

"Mamama! Mama! Up!" Chloe whisper-shouted in Red's ear once sunlight began to warm the room.

"'m up baby, Mama's up." Red groggily answered, cracking her eyes open and seeing her little fully slipped and bouncing with energy at the side of her bed.

Just then, Red's phone rang, and she groaned as she answered without glancing at the screen.

Red's mother, Bridget, giggled as she caught the end of the annoyed sound. "Good morning my rose."

Red softly smiled as she realized it was her mother. "Hey mom." She said with a yawn.

"Hii!" Chloe bubbled from Red's side.

"Is that your little?" Bridget asked quietly. Red could practically see her vibrating with excitement.

"Yeah that's Chloe."

"Hewwo!" Came Chloe's little voice again.

Bridget's grin was evident in her voice as she responded with a bubbly "Hi sweetheart!"

Red let out a little 'oof!' as Chloe clambered into her lap and babbled into the phone, with Bridget cooing over her on the other line.

Once Red suspected Bridget had given Chloe her daily dose of being fawned over, Bridget got Red's attention again. "I actually called to tell you i'm in town today."

Red shot up in bed. "Really?"

"Yep. And I missed you and kind of got you excused from classes for today." She rushed out the last part.

"I'm guessing you excused Chloe too because really you just want to meet and spoil my little."

The phone went quiet. "I haven't the foggiest idea-"

"Bullshi-"

"Red of Hearts! You have a fully slipped little with you!"

The redhead rolled her eyes. "Yeah but she knows better."

"No bad words Mama!" Chloe piped up as if that was her cue.

"Both of you are buzzkills. See ya mom!" Red grumbled before hanging up quickly.

A few hours later and Red was walking up to Bridget's hotel room with an excited Chloe in tow.

"Where're we goin?" Chloe asked quietly curiously.

"To meet my mom."

"Mama's mama?"

Red cracked a smile and nodded. She watched her little's face light up and start dragging her down the hall, even though she didn't know where she was going.

The caregiver gently pulled her to a stop at Bridget's hotel room, and instantly the door flew open and Red was swept inside.

"Wait, how did you-"

"Mother instinct." Bridget shrugged with a grin, holding out her arms.

Red rolled her eyes, but embraced her mom with a smile. "I missed you."

"I missed you too my rose." Bridget whispered, squeezing Red a little tighter.

When they pulled back, Chloe was standing behind Red, suddenly nervous.

Red smiled reassuringly and gently tugged her forward. "This is Bridget."

Red could see the gears turning in Chloe's head before she attempted to pronounce it, then looked up at Bridget's face and held out her arms. "BB?" She said shyly.

Bridget picked her up and Chloe melted into her arms. Red and Bridget exchanged a glance and Red could see Bridget tearing up as a full grin broke out on her face. "Hi sweetheart. I'm so happy i get to meet you in person." Bridget whispered before putting her back down.

Chloe beamed and then tilted her head while pointing at the bag Red brought with toys and little stuff in it. "Pay?"

"What are we playing?" Bridget asked excited, plopping onto the ground beside Chloe and not caring about ruining her dress.

For the rest of the day, Red watched her mom bond with Chloe by getting fully in character while playing and reprimanding Red for some of the things she says and does.

Chloe was big again later in the day, and she awkwardly introduced herself to Red's mom. Bridget just waved off her formalities. "Hearts, there's no need for that! I just spent most of the day with you. You're wonderful, and i mean all parts of you Chloe."

Chloe beamed and hugged her, and Red let out a long breath she'd been holding all day. She was glad her mom and little got along well.
