World Building - Events
----All-Clan Events/Celebrations----
--The Longest Night - The longest night of the year. Each clan celebrates it in their own way, but generally all cats stay up until moonhigh singing songs, telling stories, and playing games. The apprentices and kits will put on plays for the rest of the clan (More Thunderclan and Skyclan). Starclan often assists with the holiday by informing the medicine cats about two weeks prior of the Longest day.
--Skill-Share Day - The Clans get together at one of a few places for the event for one week a year during greenleaf. They have apprentice games and warrior games. It's a series of events that all clans participate in to show off their prowess. The events are judged by speed, skill, and if it's hunting, the health of the prey.
------The events include hunting, running, tree-climbing, swimming, and mock-battles.
------In the forest territories, the majority of events are typically held in Thunderclan or Windclan territories due to the simplicity in landscape. Neither territory requires any cat to have prior experience with the landscape. In the lake territories, It's usually held in the neutral territory between Shadowclan and Thunderclan since the area is pretty resource poor.
------Cats volunteer for the events and the clan votes on them. All clans put in 4 cats per event, two apprentices and two warriors.
------The judges are the medicine cats and leaders. A leader and their medicine cat must agree on a cat. When there was 4 clans, ties did occur occasionally, but usually they just did a tie-breaker round for the event.
------Iceclan, the city-dwelling clan, did join in on the games when the clans were still in the forest. They often excelled in mock-battles and climbing.
----Clan-Specific Events/Celebrations----
--Thunderclan:
----The Grand Feast doesn't really have a set day, just a set season (Leaffall). The clan spends the entire day before hunting enough for every cat to have two (one if your an elder, young apprentice, or kit) pieces of prey. The day of the feast is spent eating, chatting, singing songs, and sharing tongues.
--Skyclan:
----The Rain Festival is where Skyclan cats spend a newleaf day trying to encourage good rainfall for the year. The medicine cats whip up various paints from chew-up flowers, water, and clay so that the cats can decorate their fur with colors. The more elaborate the design the higher the cat's rank. They then spend the day dancing and singing. The medicine cat will stuff a mouse soaked in water with various herbs and flowers then bury it in the forest as an offering to Starclan for good weather.
--Shadowclan:
----Marsh-Cleanup Day is more of a necessity than anything. Every newleaf, Shadowclan spends one day walking around the territory cleaning up twoleg trash. Not very exciting, but the cats usually make a game of it and the clan is better off regardless.
----Seeker's Day is when the apprentices of Shadowclan show off their hide and seek skills. It spans over two days. The apprentices spend the first day tracking down the various warriors of the clan. The apprentice with the most warriors found gets first pick of the fresh-kill pile and bragging rights. The next day, the apprentices must hide from the cats in the clan. The apprentice who manages to stay hidden the longest gets first pick of the fresh-kill pile and bragging rights.
--Riverclan:
----The River Festival is a day where cats can set up 'stalls' and trade for various goods, mostly little trinkets. Sometimes it's dried flowers/leaves, pretty rocks, or prey, other times it's a service like a groom.
--Windclan:
----Day of the Singing Wind is where the cats decorate their fur with plants and feathers. At dawn and dusk, the cats sing various songs. Windclan is known for their haunting songs that are so loud they seem to ride along the wind to other territories. The songs don't always have words, so the tunes feel more unearthly.
--Iceclan:
----Roof Dance is when the cats of Iceclan preform elaborate dance routines on a selected rooftops once a year. They have a few traditional ones, but usually have competitions for the younger softpaws to present their own dances.
