It was harder to see eachother now that Josie was in college. With conflicting schedules and finals, it was almost impossible to find a day where they were both free. But now that finals are over and it is winter break, it is perfect.
It was Tyla's idea to have a sleepover. A week before finals she had texted Josie asking her to spend the weekend at her place, since her parents would be visiting family and she hated being home alone.
*time skip*
As soon as tyla got the text that Josie was leaving her house in a hour, she speed cleaned her room. Washed her bedding, vacuumed, dusted, the whole works. While Josie and tyla had been friends for almost all of high-school, she still didn't want Josie to think she was a slob.
just as she was finshed cleaning her parents were getting ready to leave, and called her down to say goodbye.
"Tylaaa, come down and say bye, were about to leave", her mom shouted upstairs. running down the stairs she quickly hugged and kissed her parents goodbye. "remember the rules tyla. no parties, and especially no boys" her father reminded her. "i know i knowwww", she rolled her eyes, "I only have like one friend anyway, not enough for a party." Her parents didn't know she was struggling with her sexuality, being raised in a religious household it is hard to accept yourself, seeing all the hate online. Only Josie knew her struggles, she had openly out as bisexual since early high-school. But there was only one thing no one knew, her feelings about Josie. Tyla's biggest secret was that she liked her best friend. No not liked, loved. She longed to feel those soft lips on her own, taste her, treat her better then anyone could. But no one would ever know the feelings stored deep inside her heart, so deep that she didn't even know if she could reach them if the time came to confess. She would hold these feelings in till her death. Hearing the door close infront of her pulled her out of her thoughts, reminding her that the person she loved so deeply would be here soon.
Just as her parents had turned out of sight of the house, Josie had pulled up into the driveway. Tyla stood in her doorway for a minute, feeling awkward just standing there, she decided to see if Josie needed help carrying anything in.
Walking up to the car, a old minivan, probably Josie's mom's old van. Tyla watched as Josie turned off the car, silencing the loud music playing from the stereo. Tyla recognized the song playing, "Crooked Teeth" by both of their favorite band, Death Cab for Cutie. Josie had noticed her then, lighting up immediately and chambered out of the van to embrace the younger. Tyla tensed at the unexpected action, but hugged back almost on instinct, feeling the ball of anxiety roll over and over in her gut. Feeling Josie's breath out slowly, she heard a whisper in her ear, "I missed you so much".
Josie ended up not needed any help carrying anything in, only bringing a backpack and a grocery bag containing box brownie mix and another bag that Tyla couldn't quite make out. It was Josie's idea to make brownies, and Tyla loved them, even if they were box mix. Setting everything down on the kitchen island, they decided to waste no time and started making the brownies. While Tyla gathered all the ingredients, Josie preheated the oven to 350°, and greased the pan Tyla gave her with butter. Once the oven beeped Tyla poured the batter into the pan. Nervously gripping the pan, she hesitated opening the oven. Noticing her nervousness, Josie grabbed the pan from her hands, whispering a small, "it's ok Ty". Tyla felt her face get warm at this gesture, quickly washing her hands with cold water to attempt to cool her flushing body.
After closing the oven and setting a timer on her phone, Josie turned her attetion to the fudgy batter left in the bowl. "wanna lick the bowl clean?", Tyla thought for a second at this, "no go ahead", "come on, i wont be able to finsh this all myself, please?". Tyla gave in and grabbed a clean spoon from the silverware drawer and began scrapping the bowl with Josie. The batter was delicious, getting slightly bigger spoonfuls everytime, she didn't notice the batter getting on her chin and sides of her lips, but Josie did. Swiping her thumb over Tyla's lips and sucking the batter off.
