Number 47 and Number 3 (Catnap x Dogday)
"I hereby sentence the defendants, Catnap and Dogday, guilty on charges of petty crimes, to two years in prison!" The judge boomed, while slamming down their gavel onto the block. And with that, the young and sly duo of Catnap and Dogday, had their crimes finally caught up to them, sending them to prison. As everyone started to pack up and leave, the two partners had stared at eachother anxiously, not knowing whether the other would be fine before they were both dragged away by officers of the law. They then get stuffed into a van designed for transportation of criminals to be turned into prisoners.
After a long while of driving, they had arrived at their new home for two years, Smiling Valley State Penitentiary. Walking through the front gate had them being stared at by other inmates through a chain link fence, the duo had hoped that they would not get to know these inmates too much during their stay. Once they had gotten fully changed into their new black and white striped garb, Catnap being prisoner number 3 and Dogday being prisoner number 47, they were relieved to know that they would be bunking with each other. Once they had settled into their cells, they started talking.
"Well ain't this swell, eh Day?" Catnap said, his back leaning against the wall. "We got a roof over our heads, we get fed regularly, we can even do some jobs here! Way better than the nonsense we had to put through in the orphanage." Catnap had added. " Yeah it's true, but I do miss the money we'd regularly rake in with our stealing." Dogday jokingly said. The remark had made Catnap laugh a bit. "Say, now that we're here there's something that I wanted to try." Dogday had said to Catnap, walking towards him. Dogday then put his arms around the wall, pinning Catnap against it.
"Oh? What'd you have in mind sunshine?" Catnap had flirted. "Nothin much, just that you're the cutest jailbird I've ever seen." Dogday replied while grinning wide. This comment had made Catnap blush hard, as Dogday had leaned to Catnap's ear. "I sure would be delighted if you'd accompany me to the bed." Dogday whispered into Catnap's ear with a deep voice, making the poor feline blush harder. "G- Goodness day! I- I don't think we're allowed to do an- anything frisky while we're in here!" Catnap had shyly replied. The usual cool, calm, and collected feline now stuttering like an idiot. "What are you talking about? Im just saying we should have a cuddle in our new bed. Unless you thought we would do something dirty?" Dogday replied, grinning wider also slightly blushing at how forward he is.
"Oh, cuddles eh? How about this!" Catnap had said as he lunges towards Dogday, tickling him in his weak spots. "Ahahahahahaha! Stop it you!" Dogday had yelled to Catnap in-between laughter, but the feline wasn't stopping, instead continuing with his attack until he pinned Dogday against the bed. "U-um, wh- what are you doing moonlight?" Dogday had sheepishly said to Catnap, staring him in the eyes as the feline loomed over him. Catnap then gave the canine a quick peck on the lips. "You said you wanted some cuddles. Well you're gonna get them now." Catnap said as he gently hugged the canine, rubbing his face against his cheek, giving a slight purr. "This is nice Catnap but we gotta head to work soon. We'll cuddle again at our free time." Dogday had said to Catnap. The feline had pouted at this, but eventually got off of the canine as they both left their cell...

...
"A musical number?" Catnap had replied to their fellow inmate. "Yup, warden said if we do this on national television then we get a lesser sentence." The inmate had replied to the duo. It had been about six months in the penitentiary, the two even made a few friends. One of them was a yellow chicken, whose real name was Vince but everyone called them Kickin Chickin. The lesser sentence would have the duo only serve sixteen months instead of the full two years. " It's a pretty good deal Catnap, plus we always sang and danced while we were at the orphanage so there's that." Dogday had said to Catnap, trying to convince him to take the deal. "Alright fine. So how are we gonna do this?" Catnap had asked Kickin. What followed was a brief explanation of the whole number, Kickin would be the main lead singer and dancer, while all the other inmates would be backup or background singers and dancers.
The choreography and lines that were being practiced wasn't too hard, all that needs to be done is match the energy of Kickin while not falling behind, there wasn't even a need to fully follow the movements but to just look alive and animated. But of course Catnap and Dogday, whenever they were to sing and dance with eachother had basically already memorized the moves. The production of the entire number was bigger than the prisoners had thought, they had props and other actors that showed up, they were even gonna get whole costumes and even a whole set. Eventually after weeks of practicing, the day of filming and broadcasting had rolled around, and it was time for the prisoners to shine.
They all wore matching costumes, being an all black denim jacket and jeans with a striped black and white undershirt. The only thing unique according to the prisoners were the numbers on their jacket's lapel. The set was nice and large too, matching the practice set so that they were familiar to the movements they used to do. After one rehearsal, the prisoners were ready to begin. "Jailhouse Rock, number one, take one. Rolling in three, two, one." The person in the studio had said through the speakers. The music had then started with a jazzy beat and tune, the prisoners knocking against the metal bars in time with the beat. Until they moved into thier poses and started to walk.
"One two, One two two. One two, One two two."
The prisoners had chanted synchronized while moving to the next part.
"Warden threw a party in the county jail."
Kickin said while dancing to the now changed beat, while the other prisoners were bopping up and down and snapping their fingers to the beat.
"The prison band was there they began to wail."
Catnap, Dogday and most of the other prisoners were situated on the lower platform while Kickin and a few others were on the higher platform.
"The band was jumping and the joint began to swing. You should've heard those locked-out jailbirds sing. Lets rock! Everybody lets rock!"
Kickin sung while he had slid down the pole in front of him, he then kept one hand on the pole once he reached the bottom as everyone was dancing according to the beat.
"Everybody in the whole cell block. Was dancing to the jailhouse rock."
The song continues as rehearsed
"Spider Murphy played the tenor saxophone. Little joe was blowing on the slide trombone."
Catnap and Dogday had readied themselves for their next move.
"The drummer boy from Illinois went crash-boom-bang. The whole rhythm section was the purple gang. Lets rock!"
Catnap had jumped onto Dogday's back while he was on all fours, then Dogday got up while Catnap had quickly slapped his hands on Dogday's lower back like a drum as he jumped off. They then danced alongside Kickin as his dance moves turned into more of a gyration.
"Everybody lets rock. Everybody in the whole cell block. Was dancing to the jailhouse rock."
The prisoners had moved to the other side of the set.
"Number 47 said to number 3, you the cutest jailbird I ever did see."
Carnap and Dogday had almost stopped dancing at the lyrics being sung. Kickin had changed the lyrics on the day of their filming. And it was now about them? How did he even know? The duo blushed hard now knowing others knew about their secret relationship.
"I sure would be delighted with your company. Come on and do the jailhouse rock with me. Lets rock!"
The duo had blushed even harder knowing that those words that was said was at their first day at the prison. Were they that obvious? The dance moves that they were now doing had been a hidden reference oblivious to the duo at this point. But now it was referencing the two of them in their solo dance routine.
"Everybody lets rock. Everybody in the whole cell block. Was dancing to the jailhouse rock."
Then a short intermission with the backup dancers singing a few words, with the choreography taking the center stage for this part. Kickin had gotten on top of a table like how he practiced.
"Sad Sack was sittin' on a block of stone. Way over in the corner weepin' all alone. The warden said, "Hey, buddy, don't you be no square. If you can't find a partner, use a wooden chair." Lets rock! Everybody lets rock. Everybody in the whole cell block. Was dancing to the jailhouse rock."
Kickin had sung while he was slowly going lower onto the table, then Catnap and Dogday along with a few other prisoners had lifted the table on one end to help Kickin slide all the way down the table, then they all moved back to the side that they had started in, shifting to the next part.
"Shifty Henry said to Bugs, "For Heaven's sake No one's lookin', now's the chance to make a break" Bugsy turned to Shifty and he said, "Nix nix. I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks" Lets rock! Everybody lets rock. Everybody in the whole cell block. Was dancing to the jailhouse rock."
Catnap and Dogday had done their movements, this time they knew what the lyrics were referencing as they had told Kickin about their story of one of their failed attempts at escaping the orphanage. The act continues as Catnap and Dogday exaggeratedly snuck right in front of a guard and Dogday got hit in the head, spinning around as he got knocked out with Catnap dragging him away. The two silently laughing while recalling the memory.
"Dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock, dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
Dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock, dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
Dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock."
Kickin and everyone repeated, until they had returned to their starting positions. Then they sat down in time with the beat until some fully automatic gunfire and a fanfare had telegraphed to them that it was the end of their number. Flourishing with a spin and the closing of the cell doors.
After the act the duo had confronted Kickin. "How long did you know about us?!" Dogday had yelled at Kickin. "Yeah! And why did you change the lyrics?!" Catnap added. "Hehe. Well first I kinda knew from back when you two first arrived. After all I was your neighbour back then, I heard the entire commotion." He said with a smug smile, while Catnap and Dogday just looked at eachother while blushing. "And secondly, I just wanted to kinda prank you since you two had the most solo acts out of everyone." Kickin said while shrugging. "Oh god Dogday. They're gonna know of our relationship on live television!" Catnap had told Dogday with an anxious tone. "Hey its okay Catnap." Dogday said while pulling the feline into a hug.
"I mean, you two are pretty cute together. Who knows? Maybe loads of people will support you guys." Kickin said. Over the rest of their stay, a lot of letters that were addressed to the duo were from fans about how cute the two were on the show, and that they had loads of support from fans. And eventually thier sentence finally came to an end. As they bid farewell to some inmates who were still there because of a longer sentence, they left the building with a new resolve.
"Our plans to make a new dance studio is now underway, right moonlight?" Dogday had asked his lover while they skipped away in synch. "Of course! Cuz apparently when we're with eachother we can just dance really well." Catnap had replied as they skipped together into the horizon.
