The Lego Movie

The weirdest moment of Emmett's life is when he gets back to Bricksburg and Xüsusi is there. Because she was gone, and now she's back, but neither them even mention it. They're too busy, too focused, to wonder why Emmett didn't die without his puppy dæmon by his side.
It's only the next day, when Business is on their side and they've spent several hours fighting those 'Duplo' monsters, that Emmett really gets to speak to his dæmon. Everyone else is asleep but Emmett is just sat on his bed, in the hotel they got to stay in free of charge.
'Where did you go?' He says, stroking her back as she sits on his lap.
'I dunno.' She admits, shuddering slightly. 'We were falling and then we were in the construction site. I don't know what happened.'
Emmett nods, leaning back in the bed. 'I met the man upstairs. He was adorable.'
Xüsusi smiles, tail wagging. 'Don't tell Batman that, it'll break his heart.'
Emmett chuckles, the weight of the last few days finally settling on him. 'Hey Xü?'
'Yeah, Em?'
'Lucy held my hand. She actually likes me.'
The puppy's face beams. 'I know. Kitz likes me to.'

'I can't believe this.'
Wyldstyle rolls her eyes, looking down at her dæmon. Eraikitzailea has been pacing the room since they were told to sleep, in preparation for the next day's mission. Kitz still wasn't happy about following instructions, or following Emmett for the matter.
'Oh, grow up.' Wyldstyle laughs, sitting down in her bed. The ship is still rocking, Metal Beard getting them as close to the Octan tower as he can. 'It's not that bad.'
The lynx scowls, jumping onto his human's stomach. 'Just because you fancy him.'
Wyldstyle pushes him off, shaking her head. 'I do not. Even if I did, it doesn't make his plan terrible.'
'No because his plan's already terrible.' Kitz growls. 'He's not even a Master Builder and we're listening to him. I just don't get it.'
'Get over yourself.' Wyldstyle says, as he jumps back onto the bed. 'Everyone else thinks it'll work, why can't you, Kitz?'
Kitz scowled. 'He's not a fighter, Lucy. One look at his dæmon and you can tell that. She'll die out there.'
'I knew you liked her.'
Kitz spluttered, glaring up at her. Wyldstyle just laughed, hugging him.
'Go to sleep. We're saving the world tomorrow.'

Everyone expects Savi to be blind. And she is, in a way, just not as blind as she lets them think she is. She can see them when they move and is always able to see the colours around her, to see the simplest imprint of the world. Vitruvius, who can see what she sees when he concentrates enough, says its beautiful, that he loves what she sees. Savi would say something back, but she has no words, having lost her voice when Vitruvius lost his eyes.
'Do you'll think they'll listen?' He says, tilting his head towards her. The owl makes a noise, confused. Vitruvius elaborates. 'The master builders, do you think they'll listen to what we have to say?'
Savi inclines her head, looking around at Cloud Cuckooland. The colours are bright and blend together in her vision but she knows he can't stop to see, has to focus on moving. She wants to reassure him, to promise they will listen but she can't. In that moment, she feels quite useless.
'Whatever they do, we'll be fine.' Vitruvius finally says. He runs a hand over her chest. 'And you're not useless, no matter what people think.'
Savi hoots.

Ginoo rolls his eyes as the robot secretary walks put of the room, humming that infernal song. His man does even look up, filling out several forms. Business may have made up the office and rigged the election, but he is still technically president and has to do lots of paperwork. The lizard walks back over to his man, pressing one small claw to his hand.
'Did you hear any of that?'
Business looks up, running a hand absentmindedly over his dæmon's back. 'No. I thought you were listening.'
Ginoo sighs. 'I was. But you could help. We're trying to take over the whole world here.'
'Yes, you're listening, I'm writing, it's a team effort.' He says, as if speaking to a child. Ginoo steps away from him, bristling. 'Don't be like that. Taco Tuesday is two weeks away, we need everything to be perfect.'
'We always need everything to be perfect, Business. It's one of our flaws.'
He laughs slightly, finally looking up from his paperwork. 'I like that. My one flaw is being too perfect.'
Ginoo shrugs slightly. 'Not what I said but it makes great campaigning.'
Business smiles. 'We just need the Master Builders to design it.'

'I still hate this place.'
Mlema flies onto her man's shoulder, stopping herself from smiling at the last minute. The last time she had smiled in public, someone had managed to guess their secret identity. Somehow. The bat dæmon had been suspicious of Superman's golden retriever soul since then. Still stoic, Mlema looks around, eying the newly rebuilt Cloud Cuckooland. The residents are dancing around but thankfully keeping their distance. Unikitty had ordered them not to annoy him, which Batman is grateful for, even if he doesn't show it.
'We'll leave soon.' Mlema says. 'We just need to stay long enough to keep Wyldstyle happy.'
'Lucy.' Batman mutters, watching his ex weave through the crowd with Emmett in tow, the construction worker looking terrified by the amount of people around them. He also spots Business on his own but Bad Cop soon joins him, Benny floating towards them for some reason.
'Yes. Lucy.' Mlema nods, smiling despite herself. She drops it when she see's Superman grinning at her. 'We have to stay for her.'
Batman nods, agree fulling with her. As Lucy looks up and smiles in his direction, he allows himself a small smile back. He'll stay for Lucy.

Riumte glances upwards as she feels a slight tug on her bond to Benny. He is floating upwards, eyes wide and unseeing, mouth open in a wide smile. The little alien shakes her head at him, raising one tentacle to grab his ankle.
'Don't go doing that.'
She pulls Benny down, keeping hold of his leg even as he sits on the floor. She doesn't quite trust him not to go floating off again. They have a much longer reach than most people but that's mainly because he can fly and she can't.
'Oh, oh. I'm sorry.' Benny says bouncing slightly in his seat. 'It's just the sky looked so beautiful and I wanted to get closer and-'
'Ben.' She says, shaking her head. 'I understand. I would just like it if you stay close to me.'
Benny nods several times, grinning stupidly. Finally, his mouth forms an O and he jumps up, pulling her into his arms. 'Of course I want to be close to you, that wasn't what I meant, I love you Ri, I-'
'Benny.' She interrupts again, laughing. 'You're floating.'
He looks down, seeing the ground far away. 'We're floating.'
Ah yes. Riumte thinks. Much better.

'Gel!' Unikitty shouts, running through the Old West. The walls between the universe are closing and she can't find her dæmon. They have been stretched for their entire life and she only now regretting it. Gelukkig frequently visited other worlds without her and now she can't find him. If the walls closed, they could be separated forever. 'Gel!'
'Unikitty!'
A small bundle of fur launches towards her and she wished she had arms to hug him. Gelukkig is a kitten like her but smaller, and so much more fragile. Unikitty checks him over for injuries then lifts him to her back, running as far as she can for the edge of the Old West. Gel holds on tight, screaming slightly when Unikitty launches herself into the air towards the sun.
'Can't you slow down?' He shouts as they race through Middle Zealand. He flinches as a dragon flies overhead but she keeps running.
'We have to get home.' Unikitty says, forcing a smile onto her face. She runs up the rainbow, slowing down once on the clouds. 'We have to protect everyone.'
Gelukkig jumps down so he can face her. 'It'll be okay. Just stay positive.'
She nods. 'Stay positive.'

'Not even a Master Builder. Of all the ridiculous things...'
Metal Beard rolls his eyes, ignoring his dæmon as she began to rant. They have just left the Master Builder assembly, completely unhappy with the boy Vitruvius had presented as "the Special". What a load of rubbish.
'Okay, Ros, be giving it a rest now.' He says, placing a hand on the shark's back as she jumped into the barrel he had left out on the ship for her.
'Seriously, you don't think this is acceptable, do yah?' Merirosvo says, sticking her head out of the water. 'That lad is gonna lead them to destruction.'
'Arr, he might.' Metal Beard shrugs. 'But but what does it have tah do with us?'
Merirosvo sighs, diving back into her barrel and staying submerged. Metal Beard shakes his head, limping up to the helm and steering away from Cloud Cuckooland. It's not his fight anymore.
'Metal Beard!' Merirosvo shouts. 'Metal Beard, look!'
'What be it now, Ros!' He says, following her gaze. Behind him, Cloud Cuckooland is on fire and his eyes widen at the sight. 'Ros! Get in the water, be looking for survivors. We be going back.'
He spins the helm.

Bad Cop sits up with a frown, not knowing what to do. They- he, it's just him now- have been given a break and his dæmon is crying.
'Bura?' He mutters, moving towards her. 'Bur, why are you crying?'
The wolf snarls, leaping at him. He manages to catch her before she bites him, holding her above him as he lands on the bed again.
'You let them kill him, let them kill her and then just got rid of our parents!' He can't tell if she's angry or sad but she's vibrating like she wants to turn into Accha but she can't. He wants to let his brother take over to but he's unable to, the voice in his head completely gone. 'How are you not crying?'
He sighs, lowering her onto his chest and stroking her back. 'Because we can't, Bur, not until everything's over. When it's all done, we'll get them back.'
'You promise?'
Her voice is so broken and Bad Cop is reminded that Good Cop was the one with the strong dæmon, the wolverine that terrorised people. He had the gentle soul.
'I promise.'
It's a lie but it's one that will help them sleep.

'Finn! Bad Cop's going to get Emmett.'
Finn looks up at Lapsi, perched on top of the Octan building as a cricket. He nods, rushing through Wyldstyle, Emmett and the motorbike through the city, controlling the police cars with his other hand. He doesn't have the figurines for their dæmons, because his dad was more interested in the models than the people that came with them, but he can imagine Susi and Kitz with their people.
'They've got to make it to a portal!' Finn grins, as Lapsi flies from the model, landing on his shoulder as a chipmunk. 'But which one?'
'The Old West!' Lapsi says, jumping up and down. She shifts as she lands the last time, now a ferret. 'Vitruvius is there, remember?'
'Oh. Yeah, yeah.' Finn says, grabbing the Vitruvius figure from the side and settling it down in the Old West. Spinning, he grabs the motorcycle again, jumping it to the Old West. Lapsi lands next to Bad Cop as a monkey, making the policeman angry.
'Finn!' Dad shouts from upstairs. 'Finn, what are you doing!'
'Nothing, dad.' Finn yells, putting down the figurines and picking up Lapsi. 'Just coming!'
'Play later?' Lapsi smiles.
'Awesome.'
