Recap - Act 1
RECAP
Jinx faked her death after the war in Piltover, disappearing to start a new life far from the chaos that had consumed her. Fearing that Warwick—once Vander—would be hunted down or experimented on due to his monstrous transformation, she took him with her. Together, they vanished into the unknown, leaving behind grieving friends and a city in ruins. For months, Ekko dedicated himself to rebuilding Piltover and Zaun, pouring his energy into healing the scars left by the conflict.
Amid the reconstruction, Ekko stumbled upon an old photograph among Benzo’s belongings, hinting at a mysterious chapter in Benzo’s past. The photo depicted a windmill in a place called Kalstead, and curiosity drove Ekko to investigate. Upon arriving, he found a quiet city shrouded in mystery. Locals spoke in hushed tones about a growing rebellion against a ruthless mercenary guild, and Ekko soon learned that the windmill in the photograph was tied to Ravenhurst, a nearby town. A chance meeting with Maya, a bus conductor who recognized the photograph, led him to Ava, her mother and a key figure in the rebellion.
In Ravenhurst, Ava revealed Benzo’s history in Kalstead as part of a hunting crew that once faced a cunning beast in the surrounding jungle. As Ekko pieced together Benzo’s connection to Kalstead, he began to notice signs that Jinx might still be alive. Her distinctive graffiti marked the walls, and the traps set for mercenaries bore her unmistakable touch. Whispers among the locals hinted that a mysterious figure had inadvertently sparked the rebellion, fueling Ekko’s hope that Jinx was not only alive but actively opposing the mercenaries.
The fragile resistance came under threat when the mercenary guild marched on Ravenhurst to crush the rebellion. Despite Ava’s initial reluctance, Ekko joined the fight, using his speed and ingenuity to protect the people. His efforts showcased his leadership and resourcefulness, but the battle took an unexpected turn when Rengar, a renowned hunter, and his crew intervened. They revealed they were tracking a "hex beast," which Ekko suspected was connected to Jinx and Warwick, though he kept this revelation to himself.
Rengar and his hunters pursued Warwick deep into the jungle, eventually cornering the hextech-enhanced monster. Warwick’s monstrous strength and savagery proved overwhelming, and while Rengar fought valiantly.Jinx intervened, creating chaos with her explosives and traps. Exploiting the hunters’ distraction, she managed to escape on Warwick’s back into the dense jungle. Determined to reach her, Ekko gave chase on his hoverboard, eventually catching up. During their emotional encounter, Jinx revealed herself but remained emotionally distant, rejecting Ekko’s attempts to reconcile. She paralyzed him with a net before vanishing with Warwick once again, leaving Ekko shaken but more determined than ever to uncover her motives and the truth behind her actions.
Unbeknownst to Ekko, Swain—the cunning Noxian tactician—had been manipulating events from the shadows, using the mercenary guild to sow chaos. Jinx and Warwick’s defiance had disrupted his plans, prompting him to track them down. Swain’s pursuit led him to Kalstead, where he clashed with Jinx and Warwick in a brutal confrontation. Swain, accompanied by his demonic raven, nearly overpowered them, but Ekko intervened, wielding a petricite artifact once used by Ambessa to counter Swain’s magical abilities. This allowed Jinx and a young girl named Tali to escape on Warwick’s back while Ekko held the line. Despite his efforts, Ekko was ultimately defeated, and when Swain prepared to finish him, Rengar and his group arrived, forcing Swain to retreat.
Back in Ravenhurst, the people tended to Jinx’s injuries. Meanwhile, the hunters attempted to capture Warwick, but the people refused to hand him over. Reluctantly, the hunters left, but the tension between the factions remained. Swain, undeterred, turned his attention to Mireya, the second-in-command of the mercenary guild, using her as a puppet to further his schemes in Kalstead.
As the dust settled, Demacia began to take notice of Swain’s involvement. Quinn, a skilled ranger, reported her findings to the kingdom, prompting Prince Jarvan IV and his loyal aide, Xin Zhao, to travel to Kalstead with a detachment of soldiers. Kara, a hunter from Rengar’s group, revealed herself to be a Demacian agent and joined the effort. Amid a celebration in Kalstead, the Demacians forged an alliance with Kalstead to prepare for a potential Noxian assault. Meanwhile, Jinx, now Powder to the people of Kalstead, stood ready to protect her new home, determined to leave behind the chaos of her past and embrace her newfound identity.
Meanwhile, in Piltover, Caitlyn had spent months investigating Jinx’s supposed death, haunted by the lack of concrete evidence. Her persistence finally paid off when she uncovered information pointing to Kalstead as Jinx and Warwick’s new refuge. Realizing the significance of this discovery, Caitlyn informed Vi. Then together, the two prepared to travel to Kalstead.
