Sirius
To say that Sirius was nervous would be an understatement. After Regulus' cold rejection, Sirius was all the more determined to straighten out their relationship. Sirius knew he messed up. Big time.
But he would do anything to win Regulus back. His chance was that evening. Regulus will have to sit with him at the Zeus table. Sirius will start a conversation there.
He was at the dining pavilion an hour before dinner started. Sirius wished he'd brought a book or something. But he doubted he would have been able to concentrate.
"Sirius? What are you doing here?"
Sirius looked up. Standing in front of him was none other than Remus Lupin. Sirius put on his best grin.
"Just hanging out for a bit. Got nothing to do."
Remus looks at him challengingly.
"Oh yeah, you're not waiting for dinner to start so you can talk to Regulus, are you?"
Sirius looks at Remus gaping.
"Where did you-? How did you-?"
Remus starts to laugh. Sirius liked that sound. He suddenly had a warm feeling in his stomach. Remus sits down next to him.
"Are you scared?"
Sirius looks down at the floor.
"Yes. I haven't seen Regulus in so long and I'm scared that we won't be able to repair our relationship. And it would all be my fault."
Sirius feels Remus' hand on his shoulder. His skin seems to glow all of a sudden.
"Sirius, I want you to listen to me carefully now."
Sirius nods with widened eyes. Remus takes a deep breath.
"You're an amazing person, Sirius. I can see it. And Regulus will see it too. I'm not saying it's going to be easy. You'll need time. But I know you can do it. Because you can't not like Sirius Black. No one. Not even Regulus."
When Remus had finished speaking, he looked down at the floor. Sirius just sits there, mouth open, staring at Remus.
"I-, That was-, thank you. Thank you Remus."
Sirius smiled at him. Remus quickly looks to the side and stands up.
"I should go check on Lily. Visit her in the infirmary."
The statement hit Sirius like a slap in the face.
"Lily's in the infirmary? What's happened? Is she all right?"
Remus looked at him again.
"A sword wound in her side. She'll be fine."
A wave of relief washed over Sirius. But then something occurred to him.
"Who was it?"
Remus' expression darkened.
"Mulciber."
Sirius felt sheer rage welling up inside him. How dare that git attack Lily with a sword! Mulciber thinks he can get away with anything. But this was calling for revenge.
Remus seemed to realise what was going on in Sirius' mind, because he quickly began to speak again.
"Lily wouldn't want you to do anything. She'll take care of herself. Don't worry about it."
Sirius nodded slowly. He's still mad as hell at Mulciber, but he's also a bit afraid of Lily, so he'll respect her wishes.
Remus starts to walk away, but Sirius called after him.
"Remus! One more thing. Did you really mean that? The things you said before. About me and Regulus."
Remus smiled slightly.
"Every single word.“
