"Are you mad at me?"
Quick note: everything in italics and bold are Jinx's thoughts and can be heard by those watching the scenes :)
EKKO
"So this is how we die, huh?" Claggor asked softly.
Ekko could only nod, he was still processing what he had seen. Jinx's birth had not been caused by Silco as he had long believed, It was Vi. Although he didn't like to blame her for it, he knew that she was a big part of why Jinx existed today.
Ekko looked around at the state of everyone present. Poor Powder was very distressed, the teenage Vi tried to comfort her but couldn't, it wasn't until little Ekko said something in the blue-haired girl's ear that made her laugh a little and stop crying. The man smiled tenderly, god he really missed Jinx, he just wanted to make her laugh everyday if possible, but they were enemies... Yes, that's what they were, but maybe after this... No, he had to stop thinking about that.
Vander stood up from his seat, walking over to where adult Vi sat crying, Caitlyn stroking her back in a poor attempt at comfort.
"Hey, kiddo." He said, sitting next to adult Vi. He gently pulled her towards his body, hugging her. "Calm down."
The adult Vi clenched her father's shirt in her hands and tried to breathe. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect her."
Vander shook his head. "Don't say that. I know you did your best, but we all make mistakes. Janna knows I did."
"I let that son of a bitch take her," said adult Vi angrily.
"Language," Vander said before gently parting from her. "I'll take care of him myself, don't worry."
The adult Vi smiled happily at her dad's response.
Ekko leaned back on the couch, feeling a dull pain in the cheek Vi had hit. That woman hit hard.
The projector lit up, silencing all the voices in the room.
Ekko could only wonder what they were going to see now. And for some reason he knew he wasn't going to like it.
The 5th scene began showing what looked like a giant ventilation turbine that was not in operation. It was decorated with neon lights in blue and pink, the floor had colorful drawings all over it, In the center of the turbine was a desk with sheets of paper, makeup, and bits of metal scattered about, a mirror with notes around it sat on the pillar in the middle of the desk. On one of the turbine blades there was an couch where a life-size doll of a man rested and a stuffed doll with glasses hung nearby.
"Is that where Jinx lives?" Little Ekko asked in surprise. "Pow that place is amazing!"
Powder nodded in equal surprise. She liked the look of this place.
"It doesn't look safe," Vander said to which the older siblings nodded.
Ekko was genuinely surprised to see Jinx's place, it was chaotic exactly like her but it was cozy in a strange way.
Footsteps could be heard echoing against the metal of the turbine, it was Silco in a black suit with burgundy and gold details. "Jinx!"
Vander growled angrily at the sight of Silco in the screening, he couldn't wait to give him what he deserved for messing with his children.
Ekko felt his stomach turn as he realized he was going to see what Jinx and Silco's relationship was really like, he didn't know if he wanted to see it.
His voice echoed through the room but received no response, the man walked over to the desk briefly looking at the drawings and notes that were there before calling his daughter again. "Jinx!"
There was a door at the end of one of the turbine blades and it creaked open as a pale-faced Jinx with a grimace on her face stepped out. The teenager walked to where her father was with slow steps, holding her stomach.
"She looks sick." Powder said, a little worried for her counterpart.
"You missed work today," Silco said, lowering his voice upon seeing his daughter's condition.
Jinx sat down in the chair at her desk and sighed, her hair was disheveled, she was still in her pajamas which consisted of a large t-shirt and shorts. "I wasn't feeling well."
Silco frowned as he noticed that his daughter's histrionic personality was gone, he didn't like seeing her like that. He approached and gently brushed her blue hair away from her face. "What happened? That's never stopped you before."
Everyone present was surprised to see Silco's gentle gesture towards Jinx.
The blue-eyed girl took a deep breath and rested her head on her father's chest. "I can't stop throwing up, I look like a faucet, I've been like this for a week but it wasn't as bad as today."
Adult Vi realized that Jinx looked exactly like she had escaped from Ekko a scene ago, and felt a chill run up her spine. With wide eyes she turned to see Caitlyn who seemed to have come to the same conclusion and they both looked at each other without knowing how to react.
If it was true... Janna better hide Ekko from her because she was going to kill him.
Silco pulled her against his chest, hugging his little girl and stroking her hair, he looked at his daughter worried, she never got sick. "Maybe it was something you ate."
Vander felt a discomfort in his chest as he watched his once-brother treat his little girl in such a paternal manner. He never thought that Silco would act like that, he knew that Silco had loved Felicia and had been present at Powder's birth but he had changed. He became a monster and turned his little girl into one too, he didn't like calling his daughter that way but he didn't know how to describe it.
"I thought so too." Jinx said looking up to see his face and raised a finger pointing at him. "But I remembered, all these days I was having lunch and dinner with dear old dad, so...?"
"So... Why am I not sick?" Silco completed the question, gently moving his daughter away so he could see her better. She looked pale, although she always was, she seemed to have gained a little weight, this because of her big appetite lately, although Silco was glad to see his daughter eating.
"Don't look at me like that," Jinx said, getting up from her chair to go to the part of her desk where she was upgrading her gun. "It makes me feel like a fat, ugly rat."
"You're not ugly or fat." Silco replied with a slight smile, but he was still worried about Jinx, he noticed that there was something strange about her but he couldn't say what.
The teenage Vi looked uncertainly at the projection, that man... was treating Jinx very tenderly, the way Vander acted with them and that felt very wrong.
Ekko couldn't believe what he was seeing, maybe Jinx was telling the truth and Silco loved her, that simple thought made him dizzy.
Jinx gasped dramatically as she turned to look at him and threw a paper at him. "You didn't deny the rat thing."
"I don't lie, dear," the man said with a light laugh.
Despite Silco, the adult Vi smiled softly at the sight of Jinx being so playful.
Vander couldn't believe his eyes, the man he had tried to kill now looked at his daughter with so much love.
Jinx pouted, crossing her arms. "You lie all the time."
"My own daughter slanders me," said Silco equally dramatically, elegantly touching his chest.
Pain throbbed in Vander's chest as he saw his brother so happy and playful, he really was Jinx's father...
Adult Vi felt like she was watching a parallel universe, Silco joking around with her little sister, the man who had killed her family.
The blue-haired girl laughed out loud at the sight of her father acting like that, she always loved it when he played along with her nonsense. "I'm just telling the truth, dear old man."
Ekko's heart pounded as he heard Jinx laugh, her laugh was loud and boisterous but beautiful. Oh, she was so beautiful.
The man smiled softly as he watched his daughter laugh, he knew she had had a rough few weeks since she had shown up in his office one morning all wet and crying. He knew something had happened to her, but she didn't want to tell him and he respected that, his daughter had the right to have secrets too even if he didn't like it.
"I can get a doctor from Piltover if you want, my dear," Silco told her, leaning on the desk.
"How classy~ a doctor from Piltover." Mylo mocked.
"He have money for that?" Claggor asked.
"Surely," Ekko replied, if anyone had the means to have Piltover doctors at his disposal it was Silco.
Jinx made a face of disgust and waved her hands in denial. "I don't need it."
Silco sighed deeply as he shook his head. "Was it just vomiting?"
The blue-haired girl was silent for a moment as she thought. "Uh... Well, I've been throwing up and feeling really dizzy lately, I think that's all."
The teenage Vi who had been silent until now turned pale, no, it couldn't be, right? Her little sister... Oh Janna...
The adult Vi turned angrily to see Ekko who was distracted looking at the projection. "This better not be what I think or I swear I'll kill you, Ekko."
Ekko turned to look at her confused. "What are you talking about?"
Both Vi looked at him like he was stupid while Vander who had remained calm until then cracked his knuckles.
The man felt terror start to creep up his spine, he felt like he was seeing Felicia in front of him again with the same pale face and the same confusion. But it couldn't be true?
"Jinx, I'm going to ask you a private question and I want you to be honest with me." Silco said in a firm and serious tone making Jinx turn to look at him strangely.
"What's wrong, old man?" She asked him, trying not to show that she was getting nervous because of the tone of his voice.
Silco lowered his tone a little so as not to scare his daughter. "Did you have sex?"
Ekko widened his eyes in surprise when he realized what Silco was really asking. His hands began to shake, could Jinx be...? She never said anything to him, Jinx and he had a...
Adult Vi couldn't help but feel a little amused at how pale Ekko had become.
Jinx looked at him, shocked. She was a scoundrel, but she never talked about those things with her father. It made her feel ashamed, so she asked Sevika everything she wanted to know. "You've already lost all the screws on that little monkey you have up there, haven't you?"
How did he know if she had sex? Besides, that was two months ago with Ekko and that ended very badly for her, she promised herself to stop being so stupid but she knew she could easily fall for him again. She really was a sucker for Ekko, ugh, made her want to hit her head with a hammer.
Ekko, despite all the confusion and discomfort he was experiencing, couldn't help but smile a little when he heard Jinx's thought. Maybe she had once loved him as much as he loved her.
"Just answer," Silco took another deep breath. "I'm not going to get mad."
Jinx looked at him out of the corner of her eye, unsure of whether to tell the truth or lie, but in the end he was her dad, she knew that if he got angry he wouldn't last long either. She walked away from him along one of the old turbine blades, her body shuddered briefly as she felt the cold metal beneath her bare feet and her arms wrapped around her body in an attempt to comfort herself.
"Yes, I had sex, but it was only once." She said quickly as she looked down in embarrassment.
Silco pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes, then there was a very high possibility that it was what he feared so much, he swallowed and asked. "Do you think there's any chance you're pregnant?"
Gasps and exclamations of surprise rang out in the room.
"You got my little sister pregnant?" Mylo shouted angrily at the adult Ekko.
Little Ekko and Powder were blushing tremendously and very surprised. They have a child together?
"Now I'm going to kill you, you fucking idiot." Adult Vi said, standing up from her seat.
Ekko stood up from his seat with his hands in front of him trying to calm the situation. "Wait, I didn't know about this!"
Vander put a hand on the adult Vi's shoulder and approached Ekko, Benzo seeing the situation ran towards Vander to protect his child.
"Vander, calm down, buddy," Benzo said, trying to calm the situation.
"Calm down? That kid got my little girl pregnant." Vander said angrily, pointing at Ekko who didn't know what to say.
"I know, he made a mistake but he clearly didn't know anything," Benzo said, putting his hands on Vander's shoulders.
Vander took a deep breath before looking at Ekko and asking, "You really didn't know about this?"
"I didn't know anything, she never told me," Ekko said with a lump in his throat.
Ekko felt like he had been kicked in the chest and couldn't breathe. If Jinx was pregnant and didn't abort it, that meant she had a child, his child. He had dreamed about it a thousand times, about a happy family with his blue-haired beloved, but he had given up on that dream a long time ago.
A child, from Jinx and him. With Jinx's blood and his. With the DNA of both. That could only create the most perfect child in his eyes.
Vander roughly rubbed his face before returning to his seat. Benzo patted Ekko on the shoulder and returned to his seat.
"I'm still hitting you at the end of this." The adult Vi threatened, pointing at Ekko.
"I'll help you." The teenage Vi said, glaring angrily at the adult Ekko.
Jinx looked up quickly at the question, her heart starting to pound and her legs beginning to shake. Could she be pregnant? From a man who surely hated her now more than before. They hadn't used protection. That was probably the stupidest and most foolish thing she had ever done in her life.
Flashes of various colors began to jump in front of her eyes as her feet stumbled but she did not fall to the ground because Silco caught her. "Breathe Jinx, please."
Adult Vi's heart broke every time she saw those flashes because she knew they were making her little sister suffer.
Jinx's blue eyes were wide open as she stared at her dad, not realizing that she had stopped breathing, taking a gasping breath that soon turned into a soft sob.
Silco could only hug her teenage daughter, who was most likely pregnant. "Breathe, everything is going to be okay, my little one."
Vander could only feel out of place, he was supposed to be the one to comfort Jinx, the one to scold Jinx for not using protection, the one to hold her and tell her everything would be okay. But it wasn't like that, he couldn't help but feel that Silco was handling the situation better than he ever could.
Jinx shook her head as she cried in her father's arms. She only dreamed of being a mother one day and that was a very distant dream, one she always hoped would be with Ekko but not like this. She dreamed of a house with a huge tree and lots of flowers, a big place where her children could run, where she could build a life with Ekko, but she discarded that dream a long time ago.
And now? Now she was most likely pregnant by the love of her life, who was her enemy... That blow to the head really sounded good now.
Ekko's brown eyes filled with tears as he listened to Jinx's thoughts, they both wanted the same thing, they both dreamed of the same thing. Maybe... If they could save her he could take her to his tree. He had found that tree thinking of her, he founded the Firelights thinking of her, he founded an entire community thinking of her. Thinking that maybe... Someday... She and her children would run around happily.
"Listen to me, breathe." Silco gently pushed Jinx away from his chest, pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped her face. "Let's breathe together, shall we?"
The adult Vi briefly saw Vander in Silco, that was how Vander always treated her with love. Had Jinx replaced Vander? The thought pained her but it was a possibility.
The blue-haired girl nodded, her body shaking from sobs, and imitated her dad's breathing. She calmed down a bit and with a trembling voice she asked her dad, "Are you mad at me?"
Silco shook his head, caressing her cheek and wiping away the small tears that were still falling. "I would never be mad with you. I am surprised, but never mad."
Silco really is her father, isn't he? Ekko thought. But that didn't mean he wasn't manipulating her, maybe all the soft and gentle treatment was to manipulate her.
The teenager rested her face in her father's hand, her crying had stopped even though her body was still shaking. "What now?"
The man pulled his daughter to his chest, hugging her again and rubbing his hand on her back to try to calm her down. "Now we'll get the doctor and if it's true that you're pregnant, you'll have options."
Jinx hugged her dad tightly, snuggling into his chest. "What options?"
Silco carefully untangled Jinx's long hair. "You can abort them or give them up for adoption in Piltover or you can keep them. Whatever you decide, I will support you."
At her dad's words, Jinx clenched her hands around the black suit, feeling like vomiting again. "I don't know what I want to do."
"And that's okay, darling. You have time to decide, don't think about me or anyone else when you make the decision, just think about yourself." Silco said as he began to gently rock Jinx.
Jinx rested her head on his chest with a hesitant hand she touched his clothed belly and felt a soft warmth on her chest.
Ekko felt a warmth in his chest as he imagined a child in his arms, as chaotic and beautiful as Jinx, as smart as both of them, and as loved as both of them are.
