This is a dream, right?
EKKO
The last thing Ekko remembered was falling asleep in his bed, he had talked to Vi and Caitlyn about how he was going to help them and after that... After that... He had gone to sleep? No, that didn't sound right. Ekko squeezed his eyes shut, pain throbbing through his head.
His hands rubbed his eyes trying to push away the pain and gather strength to open them. His brown eyes opened slightly and he could see a strange white light above him. Now Ekko knew he wasn't in his room, what had happened? Was it Silco? Had Caitlyn set them up? Was it... Was it Jinx?
With sore muscles he sat on what felt like a soft carpeted floor. He was able to open his eyes completely and wished he hadn't. Was this a nightmare? Was this one of those dreams that would later haunt him for the rest of the day?
In front of him were Vander, Mylo, Claggor, Vi but as a teenager and... Oh, Benzo... Dad... They looked exactly as he remembered them, so young, so... Alive. They looked so confused, Ekko with a dazed mind couldn't hear what they were saying but he saw their mouths moving. This must be a dream.
A pair of pitiful moans sounded behind him, and he stumbled around only to find a small version of himself staring at him with wide eyes And beside him was... Powder, looking at him with those big, innocent, naive blue eyes. He couldn't help but compare those innocent eyes to Jinx's mischievous, dangerous ones. There were days when Ekko found it hard to believe that Powder was Jinx, but that's how it was, even if Jinx didn't believe it, Powder was still there.
"Get away from them." He heard Vi's voice crack. Ekko didn't remember her voice ever being like that. He turned around again to see teenage Vi looking at him with a mix of anger and fear.
"I'm not doing anything, okay?" Ekko replied, raising his hands. He gulped, trying not to panic, this had to be a dream...
Little Ekko and Powder ran behind him towards teenage Vi who pulled them behind her.
"Kid, what is this place?" Vander asked looking at Ekko curiously as he placed a hand on the teenage Vi's shoulder.
Ekko shrugged, he had no idea where they were or why his dead family was suddenly in front of him, apparently alive. He took a deep breath trying to stay calm, his brown eyes scanned the room, there were white lights hanging from the wooden ceiling with white walls, there were four beige sofas and a single sofa on one side. There was nothing unusual, in fact it looked like a Piltie's house, how disgusting.
"It looks like a Piltie's house," he heard little Ekko whisper. He couldn't help but let out a laugh.
Ekko was about to answer him when interference started to play causing everyone in the room to cover their ears. The noise was deafening, Ekko's hands were not enough to cover the sound. It felt like nails were being driven through his ears, he felt like ripping his ears off with his own hands. He could hear Vi's screams, Powder's crying.
Blood began to run down his fingers that were still covering his ears. He felt like his head could explode at any moment, his jaw ached from how hard he was clenching his teeth. The lights in the room flickered and in the middle of the room an irregularly shaped ball formed that moved in an unnatural way, it seemed to be the cause of the sound. The ball began to spin, growing in size and shrinking in a way that disturbed Ekko a little, and out of it fell adult Vi just like the last time he had seen her and Caitlyn.
As soon as the women hit the ground, the ball disappeared and the sound too. Ekko took his hands out of his ears and looked at them, there was blood on them, there was a soft beeping sound echoing in the silence of the room, but he was sure it was because of how damaged his eardrum was. He could barely hear Vander trying to calm Powder and little Ekko down, with shaky legs he approached adult Vi who was unconscious. He wiped the blood from his hands on his jumpsuit before placing it on the pinkette's shoulder and gently moving her.
"Vi?" He whispered, trying not to let his dead (or living?) family hear him. Maybe this wasn't a dream.
Adult Vi stirred gently under his hand, she let out a grunt with her eyes still closed. "What happened?"
"I wish I knew, but right now I need you to tell me what the last thing you remember is." He whispered turning his head to see his family who were still distracted with each other except Benzo who looked at him curiously. Ekko knew that his father was not stupid, he surely knew who he was, he wanted nothing more than to run and hug him, but distrust got the better of him. He didn't know where he was or how he got there. At this moment, it was better to get answers.
"Why are you whispering?" Adult Vi replied, rubbing her eyes vigorously.
"If you opened your eyes you would understand." Ekko said without whispering as he sat on the ground, running his hands through his hair, his heart beating so hard it hurt. It's been a long time since he felt so scared and lost, not since that night...
Adult Vi opened her eyes as she sat up with difficulty and turned her head. Ekko could see clearly as she realized what was in front of her. "Wha... What is..?" She stuttered loudly causing her dead/alive family (at this point he didn't know) to turn to look at them.
Ekko's gaze remained on adult Vi watching as her blue-grey eyes filled with tears. He soon heard the commotion. He turned his head watching as teenage Vi looked in shock at her adult counterpart, Powder and little Ekko looked with curiosity and surprise behind teenage Vi. Vander had a surprised but also confused look, Mylo and Claggor had a funny confused expression on their face and Benzo just looked at him, Ekko didn't dare look away for fear that if he did, Benzo would disappear.
Out of the corner of his eye he could see adult Vi stand up on shaky legs and walk as quickly as she could to Vander, hugging him tightly. From his position he could hear the crying of adult Vi, Vander held her tightly against his chest, trying to comfort her.
"What the fuck is going on here?" the teenage Vi asked as she looked at the scene in front of her. Ekko didn't know what to answer but it wasn't necessary a POP sounded in the room and in front of him was a sheet of paper, he picked it up noticing that it had words written on it.
"It's a letter, I think." Ekko said, showing the letter before reading it out loud.
"You must be very confused, we are truly sorry for the inconvenience. We promise to explain everything. You were all chosen for a great purpose, you are all from the present, the future, and the past. It sounds confusing, but it isn't. You are the only ones capable of saving the only person capable of saving us all. I know it will be hard to believe that this person is capable of saving us all, but she is, she is our only chance against... Well, you'll see, I won't explain much. We have tried many people but none of them were able to save us, we were always missing something and it was this person. You will see scenes from her life that we have collected so that you can understand her better, so that you can understand why she is the way she is, and you will discover secrets about her that you need to know.
