“You know I never pegged you as someone who would like musicals,” Melissa states as she looks over my DVD collection.
“Why?” I asked confused.
“I don’t know, they just don’t seem like your thing.”
“Well I love them.”
“How come? I mean where did the love come from?” Melissa asked.
“My grandma, my Mum’s mum. She loved them. When she would babysit me, we’d always end up watching them and I guess I just picked it up from her.”
“Cute. Do you remember the first musical she ever showed you?”
“Yes.”
“Well, don’t leave me in suspense,” Melissa teased.
I laughed before answering “The Wizard of Oz.”
“Does that count as a musical?”
“It has singing in it, doesn’t it?”
“I see your point.”
“I was so afraid of the witch.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, my grandma would hold me for hours after telling me witches don’t exist. She’s clearly never met Mrs Patrilla,” I said, making Melissa laugh.
“Can we watch it together?”
“On, one condition?”
“What’s that?”
“You hold my hand through the witch's scene, can never be too safe.”
Melissa giggled before saying “I’ll do you one better, I’ll hold you through the entire movie. You know I wouldn't want anything else scaring you.”
“Yeah, you're right.” Melissa laughed at me before handing me the DVD case. Once I had put the movie into the DVD player, we settled down on my bed together with me laying happily in Melissa's arms as the movie played.
The End.
