Karmas a Bitch

Vi woke up Saturday morning with a groan as Powder knocked rapidly on her door screaming, “Breakfast is ready!”, like her hair was on fire.

She looked around her bedroom she's had since 11 years old, and felt.. weird. It was kind of weird not waking up in her cabin in Caitlyn’s kind presence, and falling asleep to it as well. The two had grown quite close and Vi was worried it would only last in between the boundaries of the Noxus mountains.

Clicking on her phone and seeing a text from Clara, she realized what she had to deal with today.

Clara. Her girlfriend. Who didn’t trust her.

Vi just shoved her head inside her pillow and groaned again. This was gonna be shit.

She then saw a text from Caitlyn saying,

C: Hey, thank you again for taking me home last night.

V: No problem, cupcake. Happy to give you a ride anytime.

Not knowing what to say back, Caitlyn blushed just thinking about how last night went. How close Vi was to her, how muscular her body was pressed up against hers.

Fuck Caitlyn, Stop it. Respond to her.

But before she could say anything, Vi doubled texted saying,

V: Hey, I was thinking, since you are always listening to music, you must have pretty good taste. You should make me a playlist sometime.

C: Maybe I should, I wouldn’t want to see you listening to Kpop or something, that could ruin our friendship.

Vi just laughed and got out of bed hoping breakfast wasn’t cold.

After eating a delicous breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and eggs, she realized the touch of home she was missing at camp. The chefs didn’t make her food with this much love. After wiping the syrup and bacon bits off her cheek, she decided to text Clara to meet her at the park close to her house at noon.

When the time rolled around to leave, Vi got a pit feeling deep in her stomach. As she got on her bike and zoomed off to the park, her mind kept racing through how great camp had been with Caitlyn and how rude Clara had been to her during her time at camp.

About how, last time she was on this bike, Caitlyn’s arms were pressed against her waist, and she could feel her breath on her neck.

Fuck, Vi. Stop it.

The moment she got off her bike, Clara ran to her to give her a hug. Not knowing why she still felt weird, she reluctantly returned the hug. Vi put her head down on Clara’s shoulder, letting herself breathe a bit. Still, something felt wrong.

You should feel happy Vi. You haven’t seen Clara in weeks. She's your girlfriend.

Clara broke the hug and grabbed Vi’s cheeks, rubbing it softly.

“I’ve missed you so much, you’ve been gone for so long.” said Clara softly as she pulled Vi in for a kiss.

But before Clara could kiss her scarred lips, Vi quickly swerved her and said sternly,

“Clara. We need to talk first.”

Clara just crossed her arms and pouted, attempting to give Vi puppy eyes or something.

“Talk about what? How you slept in a cabin with a girl for two weeks? Yea, I think we need to talk about that.” Clara exclaimed in annoyance, crossing her shoulders.

“It hurts that you don’t trust me, Clara. Nothing happened! This can’t work if you don’t trust me.” Vi croaked, her voice harsh.

Vi suppressed the tears rising in her eyes and looked down at Clara, not knowing what should would say. A part of her hoped she would yell at her, run away screaming, yelling “We should break up” to her face. But that didn’t happen. Clara just hugged her and said into her shoulder,

“I’m sorry. You just made me suspicious.”

Vi let out a sigh after hearing those words, even though she didn’t know why she was stil upset or still felt weird. She kept thinking about Caitlyn, how she would never treat her like this as a friend. Stop it, Vi.

Clara pulled Vi out of her thoughts by kiss her lips tenderly. Vi confusly blinked, closed her eyes, and returned the kiss, but with not much passion.

Why does this still feel wrong?

Pulling away from Clara’s passionate kiss with her eyebrow furrowed, Vi just pulled out her phone and pretended she got a notification, apoligizing to Clara saying,

“Sorry. I, uh, have to go, Powder needs me.”

Before Clara could respond Vi hopped on her bike and left.

...

Stopped at a red light on the way home, Vi was still thinking about Caitlyn, on how good of a friend she was. How good she felt pressed against her on this bike.

The moment Vi got home she got a text from Mylo and Claggor telling her there was a party tonight at one of Claggor’s wrestling teamate’s house.

“Have to ask my dad,” Vi replied on the group text thread.

Definitely going to that tonight, Vi thought as she smirked and plopped on her couch.

Her dad, Vander walked by in his firefighter outfit, saying aloud to her and Powder,

“Got a shift tonight. Won’t be back til the morning. Theres stuff for chicken and waffles in the freezer.”

Vi hummed in acknowledgement, and Mylo texted her again saying,

“Well, did Vander say yes?”

Vi instantly sat up from the couch and asked Vander just before he was out the door,

“Hey, would it be cool if I can go to a party tonight? Mylo and Clag will be there -- I promise I won’t drink and I’ll be home before 2. Powder can go to Ekko’s.”

After some silent hesitation from the firefighter standing in the door, he huffed and said,

“Fine. But you have to do the dishes. Have fun and be safe, kiddo.” He closed the door and left.

Before Vi could reply to Milo and Claggor, Powder jumped on the seat on the couch next to her, arms crossed, pouting.

“How come you get to go to parties and I don’t?” She huffed, a frown forming on your face.

“You're only a freshman, Powder, I promise to take you to parties next year if you don’t embarrass me too much.”

Powder just glared at her, still pouting.

“And.. you’ll get to hang out with Ekko tonight.. Which I know you LOVE” Vi chuckled, smirking at her sister.

Powder instantly blushed and ran to her room shouting,

“I don’t like him, okay? I don’t- UGH”

Still smiling because of Powder, Vi replied to Milo and Clag, and then her finger hovered over Caitlyn’s contact for a minute.

The party would be a lot more fun with her there.

Hesitantly and blowing out a breath as she did it, Vi texted Caitlyn

V: Hey, wanna go to a party tonight? I can pick you up so you don’t have to drive:)”

Caitlyns eye instantly lit up as she saw Vi’s message. She was reading her book in bed, bored, thinking about how awesome the last two weeks had been.

She thought for a moment about Vi’s proposal. Parties really weren’t her thing. She had been to a few, mostly because Jayce or Mel dragged her to one, but never really enjoyed them. But, this time was different. Vi was gonna be there. In fact, Vi was picking her up. She get to ride her on her motorcycle again, she get to wrapped her arms around Vi’s muscular body–

Fuck Caitlyn, chill, she doesn’t like you like that.

C: Not sure.. I’ll have to ask my parents. Might have plans.

She does not have plans. Caitlyn was bored as hell. And her parents won’t be home all night. Her dad’s performing an overnight surgery and her mom was working late, probably in the archives.

V: What, are you too busy making my playlist to come?

C: “Not everything revolves around you, Vi”
C: But sure.. I’ll come.

V: Great, I’ll pick you up at 9 ;)

C: See you then :)

The last couple hours for Caitlyn were not boring anymore. She tried on numerous different outfits, fiddled with her hair and put on some slight makeup. It was 20 minutes until Vi would pick her and Caitlyn was stressing. She felt nervous to see Vi. Vi, who played her guitar and always gave her a kind smile. Vi, who had a girlfriend and definitely not a crush on her.

Caitlyns thoughts came to a halt when she heard a ring the house monitor letting her know Vi was at the gate, she rushed downstairs and pressed the button that let Vi in. Her heart leapt in joy when she heard Vi’s loud motorcycling purring in her driveway. She quickly glanced at herself in a mirror in the living room and opened the door to find Vi awkwardly mid-knock.

Vi gulped and blinked at Caitlyn when she first saw her. Caitlyn had put her hair up in a ponytail but left two blue strands fall on the side of her face. She had beautiful golden hoops in her ears, a crop top showing off her perfect body. God, and she was wearing dark red lipstick. Fuck, Vi wanted to taste that lipstick. Wanted to be marked with that lipstick.

Snap out of it Vi, god. You need to break up with Clara before your thoughts escalate.

Caitlyn watched Vi roam her eyes all over her body like she was art. Vi was so close Caitlyn could see her pupils dilate.

Vi looked…handsome. She was in a white tank top with a black leather jacket, baggy black pants, with boots. She fluffed up her pink hair a bit and put on some slight eyeshadow, with the help of Powder.

“Who’s ready to party?” Caitlyn exclaimed, breaking the silence between them.

Vi just smiled as she watched hop onto the behind of her bike tapping the spot where Vi would sit.

Vi zoomed out of her driveway as fast as she could. Her stomach couldn’t handle Caitlyn’s arms all wrapped around her waist. She felt guilty. For her thoughts. For how she wanted Caitlyn close, closer than they were now on this bike.

Vi almost missed the final turn to the party because of how much she was concerned about the situation she was in. Clara? Caitlyn?

When they entered the party, their ears were instantly welcomed with loud, booming club music. Vi saw Mylo and Claggor leaning against a wall next to the drunkards playing beer pong in one corner and went over to say hi. Caitlyn tapped her shoulder as she was leaving, leaned in, and whispered in Vi’s ear,

“I’m gonna grab drinks, what do you want?”

Thrown off by Caitlyn’s soft voice traveling in her ears, Vi shouted over the music,

“ I’m good! I’m driving. I’m gonna go over to see My and Clagg. Join me after?”

The Piltie nodded and grinned largely, melting Vi’s heart a bit. Vi hoped she was gone for too long.

Walking over to the drinks table with a sigh, Caitlyn decided to just grab a beer. She didn’t really know what type of drink was her favorite. She hadn’t been to many parties, and she was pretty sure everyone around her could tell by the way her eyes were roaming around the beer cooler. Caitlyn just settled on a Corona because she would need some alcohol in her system to have the confidence to talk to Vi all night.

“Hey, Wassup Vi? Did I just see you walk in with the Pitlie?” Mylo scoffed.

“She’s not that bad, My. Her names Caitlyn and she’s pretty nice. We roomed together at the science camp.” Vi said as she threw a playful punch to Mylo’s shoulder.

“Speaking of girls” Claggor huffed, “I think I saw your girlfriend around her somewhere.”

Vi’s eyes got wide at the mention of Clara. Clearing her throat not to sound suspicious Vi asked Claggor,

“Um.. Oh.. that’s cool. Where is she?”

After running off to the direction where Claggor had pointed, Vi almost bumped into Caitlyn trying to find her.

“Hey, Vi.” Caitlyn said while sipping her drink, which wasn’t that good. “Where are you going?”

“Um. Apparently Clara’s here. My girlfriend.” Vi said with a frown.

Clearly not reading the situation or Vi’s disappointment, Caitlyn said,

“Cool! Can I meet her?”

“If you want.” Vi said with a shrug. “Follow me”

When they both found Clara, they found her sitting on a couch. In the corner. Kissing a girl. A girl who was not Vi.

Instantly huffing and running over to break up whatever love affair was going on, Vi shouted.

Clara? What the fuck!”

Clara quickly pushed the girl off of her and stood up.

“Um, it’s not.. It’s not what it looks like.” Clara squealed, obviously drunk.

Caitlyn held her breath waitiing for Vi’s response. She couldn’t help but feel angry at Clara. So angry her fists clenched. How could she do that to Vi? Vi, who was so sweet and lit up the room with her jokes and smile?

“It’s exactly what it looks like. You were worried about me cheating and here you are kissing some girl?” Vi shouted, keeping the same angry tone, trying not to let the tears rise up.

“Well I’m done with your bullshit, Clara. We’re done.” Vi said, quieter now, then ran off as far as her legs could take her, not bothering to say anything to Caitlyn.

But when Clara tried to follow her, Caitlyn didn’t let her. She grabbed her arm and pulled her close. She wasn’t gonna let Clara lie, apoligize, or malupiate Vi ever again.

“Don’t even think about it, Clara. Let her be alone.”

“Wh-What? Who are you” Clara gasped.

“I’m Caitlyn, and I’m Vi’s friend. And I’m not gonna let you hurt her again. She doesn’t deserve to be treated like that. She doesn’t deserve you.”

“Well, Caitlyn. I didn’t know Vi slept her away up to the Coucilour’s daughter.”

Apparently everyone in the whole party had come into the room to see the drama, because a crowd forming around them had started chanting,

Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight!”

The two just stared at eachother intensely in the middle of the circle of bodies, seeing if the other would make a move.

Both know who would win.

Caitlyn then dropped Clara’s arm and stormed out of the room, followed by the crowd yelling,

BOO! BOO! Kirawoman slut! Kirawoman slut!”

She tried not to cry as that nickname was spat. She needed to find Vi.
