The Rocker
"Hey Fam!" Luna immediately approached our group. " It's been so long since I've seen you all, how's everyone doing?" She was greeted with hugs and hellos from us all and then turned her intention to Lori, or more specifically, Lori's baby bump. "Heya mate, you been bothering your mother?" Lori and Bobby laughed at her antics, " he's been quite rowdy lately, much more than Hector anyway!" She patted her 1st borns head as he hid behind her leg, looking quite weary of this new stranger. As did Lexi, who was much more open about about her opinions.
"Mommy" She grabbed Leni's leg. "Who's that?" She pointed towards Luna and Sam. The question prompted some laughter from those still involve ( Lola had stole Luan and Benny's attention once more and Lana was talking to Lily).
"This in your aunt Luna and aunt Sam!"
"More???" Lexi questioned. "How many more are there??" This prompted more laughter to ricochet through the rest of us.
"There's still a few of us to come, dudette. But the more aunts and uncles you have, the more cousins you have and the more playdates you can have!" Luna explained to Lexi and Hector, and at this revelation, they both started giggling and happily chatting about things to do with their new friends.
As the kids went of in their own little world, the adults started their own conversation, catching up on lives as Luna told them all about their band tours and the shows they've done with countless famous bands.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Lana and Lily, both looked determined to ask me something so I gave them my full attention.
"Are you going to ask Luna about her wedding as well?" Lana whispers. Lily nods behind her.
"I will, let's just wait a bit first, I would feel quite like some sort of home-wrecker if I immediately started interrogating her." I told them.
" You did that to Luan though?" Lily shot back. And she was right, i did exactly that to Luan but that's because I wasn't thinking straight and we're much closer than I and Luna. I explained this to the duo. They understood my reasoning and decided to follow the kids to join in with their antics.
After they'd gone, I decided to find my future-wife, wrapping her in my arms when i did. "I see someone's happy to see me?" She laughed. "Already tired of everyone?" I laughed with her. "It's amazing seeing everyone again but I can't ignore how some of them seem to be avoiding me." She turned around to face me. "I know, I saw your little interrogation with Luan. Couldn't have waited 5 minutes, could you?" "I know! But she always avoids it whenever we catch up and I wanted to know why. I'm certain she still isn't telling me everything." "You know you don't have to look after your sisters as much as when you were younger right?" I turned away. Of course I knew all my sisters could look after themselves. But, as there brother - younger or older, I needed to make sure they were happy and safe. I trust all their spouses with looking after them but I feel like they should be able to confide in me for anything, we are bound by blood after all.
"Lincoln!" Luna shouted me, stopping my thoughts, as she and Sam walked over. "Dude, it's been too long since I've seen you! You're taller than all of us now!" She hugged me as Sam stole Ronnie's attention, leaving me with another sister I had a few questions for.
"So Luna, before we catch up and everything, do you think you could tell me something?" "Whatever you need, brah!" "Why didn't you invite me, any of us, to your wedding?"
I watched as the question dawned on her. Her face shifted from the overjoyed demeanor whilst she crafted me an answer. She opened her mouth to answer before closing it. This happened repeatedly for a few seconds, making her appear similar to a pufferfish. Then she sighed and avoided eye contact (what is with my sisters today???) when she settled of the reason why.
"Honestly, Linc" She paused before looking me straight in the eye. "I was so caught up in the moment, I forgot."
She forgot? That's it? Luan's explanation was better than that. You forget to tie your shoes, you don't forget to invite any of your family to your wedding.
"That's not true! I invited Luan! Though she couldn't come for work reasons." She muttered the last bit under her breath, obviously holding some resentment for that.
"That doesn't make it any better! You invited one of twelve of us!"
"Actually, Mum and Dad came."
"But none of your siblings? How come you remembered them but not the rest of us?" I knew Luna and Luan were still pretty close but that doesn't change anything - though I need to remember to question Luan on her invitation later (Sorry Luan).
"I'm sorry dude! I'm leaving my dream life as a rockstar, all the euphoria gets to you and things slip your mind. I have weekly calls with the rents and catch up with Lu often cause we were roomies!" She tried to defend herself and I realised that there wasn't much I could do about it now, like normal I had to ignore it and move on (something I've grown quite accustom to since I was a child.)
Sighing, I told her it was okay and I won't hold it against her (I will) but it would be nice if she talked to me about these things. She agreed with, apologised to me a few more times, and we slipped back into nice conversation - I think Luna's laidback attitude helped ease the tension.
After around 20 minutes of catching up with Luna and Sam, I had started to play with my favorite niece and nephew before a cab showed up in the drive. A few seconds later, I heard the voice of my direct older sister.
"Lynnsanity in the house!!"
