Greif's End
Alex Rider is suddenly grabbed from behind by her doppelganger and thrown up to the stairs nearby. She's led to the roof and is afraid of the gun pointed at her. It's not like the last time, where her handler Mrs. Jones wasn't sure which one was which. She didn't want to kill her. Julia Greif looks at her with a smirk and is about to take the shot.
BAM!
Julia Greif was dead. Yassen made sure of that. He knew from the start that the clone was not the real Alex. She looked in alarm.
"It's you!" Alexandra said. He was the man from Point Blank Academy and he was the man from the photo Mrs Jones had told her before. At the beginning of the evening, the clone realized she would get caught in a stand off between Alex, Julia Greif, and MI6. Jones had been confused, trying to tell the two girls apart. As soon as they identified Julia as the fake Alex, the guns pointed at her, so she took Alex hostage the moment she pointed their guns at Julia Greif.
"You killed her." She said, horrified.
Yassen just keeps looking at Alexandra with a blank expression. "To save your life."
Alexandra stood in silence because the last time he saw her, it was "Alexandra Friend."
"You're Yassen Gregorovich."
Yassen looks at the girl with surprise.
"You killed my uncle. Ian Rider."
"It was nothing personal, Little Alex," Yassen insisted. The girl didn't flinch at his words and he had to admit Alex for it. She was a very talented girl, he could tell. He see the burning hatred in her eyes.
" Well that makes one of us. And you're going to want to refrain from calling me that. Tell me this again. Why'd you kill her?"
"It was my job to tie up loose ends."
He stepped closer to her. Alex would have backed up but she was already near the edge of the roof. Yassen smirked. The girl was definitely John's daughter
"You are quite brave and stubborn, Alex. I'll give you that. But you must be careful. You know who I am but I know you too. Do not become a spy Alex. This is life and death and you are not equipped to deal with either. The more you know the more danger you put yourself in. The next time they tell you pick up where they left off say no. Killing is for grown ups and you're still a child. Quit."
"I will never quit!" Alex repeated. This time she was taking a step closer to him. She didn't care that Gregorovich wasn't was at least two heads taller than her. She didn't let him intimidate her. Yassen looked down to her, meeting her child, intense blue eyes. " I will never forget you."
Yassen smirked again, unlike when he smiled at her at Point Blanc. It was pride and Alex was not happy with it.
"Goodbye Alex," Yassen said as he suddenly heard MI6 agents rushing in to help her. He saluted her before he disappeared into darkness.
"Alex, are you alright?" A woman's voice cuts Alex's thoughts. The young girl looks away from where Gregorovich disappeared and to Mrs. Jones, whose hand is on her shoulder.
"Y ...yes," Alex answered. Jones could see the 15-year-old was shocked.
"Alex!" Tom shouted. The young girl turned around and saw Tom rushing up to her. Alex smiled, and Tom could tell this was definitely his sister, not that they looked alike. Julia had cold blue eyes, but he saw clearly that this Alex had warm brown eyes he should've recognized. He quickly pulled her into a hug, and Alex returned it. However, despite her best friend comforting her, Alex can't help but rethink her passing encounters with Yassen.
"Perhaps we should take you home," Mrs. Jones said, gesturing for them to follow her.
There was no way this woman was letting these children suffer anymore. Screw Alan for once. They have been through enough for one evening. She leads Tom and Alex off the roof. However, he can't help but keep his arm around his best friend's shoulders for fear Tom would lose her again. He already put her in danger by making that spy video of her and getting her held hostage by a psychotic clone. There was no way he was going to lose her now. And Alex swore the same thing. But she can't help but think about Gregorovich and how he saved her ass. Who was he and who was the mysterious blur in that picture she saw with young Yassen Gregorovich? She and Tom are led to the car, and they stay together in silence. Just glad to be alive.
Unbeknownst to her, Yassen watches from a distance, glad to see John's daughter was safe for now. Glad she's got a friend who is looking out for her. Only time would tell if she stayed out of the spy business.
This was just the beginning.
