Steve Rogers x Reader to Bucky Barnes x Reader - Too Close
Steve knew he was treating his girlfriend of five long years like shit. He wasn't proud of this fact. But he couldn't even admit it to himself. Much of his engagements with (Y/n) was both strained and resentful. But he still loved Peggy to no end and measure too. So he put up a front for (Y/n). But he knew there was something up with her.
(Y/n) knew that Steve her beautiful boyfriend could never truly love her. And it hurt way worst cause she was leaving him. Not because of his lack of affection or noncommittal sex they had been having. But cause she wasn't going to be a relationship with a man that could never fully love her. That is why she was going to a job far away from him.
She woke up that morning next to Steve and almost sobbed. Always having to call Nick Fury to send Steve away on a mission. To give her time to make arrangements to go. Nick wasn't happy with Steve either. But he understood why this had to happen no less.
"Hey (Y/n), Wanna go to a game with me? We will go out to eat. Then maybe buy you that new game you want so much on PlayStation 4!" asked Steve to her happily.
"No thank you, Stevie. Take either banner or stark. Have a couple of things I gotta do!" said (Y/n) to Steve tiredly.
Steve had gone to take a shower and she left him in there room. Going to hunt down something to eat in the kitchen. Spotting some Poptarts and knowing Thor wouldn't mind much. He was like an older brother to her and he cared. Much to there shared powers they had together. He can harness lighting powers and she can create them up.
"Hello Lady (Y/n), I see much trouble laying heavy on you!" said Thor in soothing voice.
"Well I do have a busy day I am not looking forward to having. It stresses me out!" said (Y/n).
"Let it not unsettle you too much fair maiden. You need sunlight and love!" said Thor.
"If life could ever be that simple. But I must leave you fellow lightening holder!" said (Y/n) to Thor.
She was walking to where she worked put at in the tower. Having to pair up with Bucky and getting in few last minute defense techniques from him. Since he knew and was keeping quiet about her plans. Then she hit the showers and got on the clothes she was leaving in away from here. She was going to be working with King T'challa in Wakanda.
Steve had found her and said Tony was going with him to the game. And they would be back later on that night. That was her que to leave the tower and meet the King nearby. Natasha and Bruce with Nick Fury were her farewell crew. Having to promise to keep in touch. She met up with the king and his guards at the Wakanda embassy he set up.
Months flew by for her and she made some really incredible piece's for the king. He was happy she came to work for him and live in close contact to him. That was until she was rushing to get to lab. She forgot her cellphone and knew it was on her desk.
She walked in and saw the last person to be there. It was her now ex bf Steven Grant Rogers. He looked more manly and built up. But his eye's held such sadness and hope.
"What are you doing in my lab in Wakanda, Rogers? Not too busy saving the world!" said (Y/n) to Steve bitterly.
"You don't think I know why you left me in New York City. How you didn't even give me a good bye of any sort. That is a low blow even for you!" said Steve with malice.
"Yes I left you in New York City since the moment you couldn't truly love me. You love someone other than me. I couldn't be in relationship with you cause of that. When I expect to be in relationship with you and you love me only. It's a low blow to keep rubbing in my face!" said (Y/n) in anger.
"How did I rub it in your face, huh?" asked Steve.
"The moment I read your diary and it saying "I can't keep hurting (Y/n) and love Peggy!". That is when I knew I lost you and any potential love you could've given me. So I knew I needed to step aside and let it run it's course!" said (Y/n) around a sob.
She had gone over to her desk and grabbed her cellphone. Looking up to see Steve Rogers with both sadness and with an empty heart. She did the last thing she expected to do. She layed a kiss on his forehead and hugged him. This was going to be it for her.
"Steve I wished many times you loved me. But I can't keep being around you. It's too much of reminder that you were my downfall. And what hurts worst is you didn't see it coming. After this I am going to be getting married to a man that loves me fully. A man that doesn't continue to string me along, like you did. I wish you luck in finding the one you love without hurting them, like you did me. One too many tines to count!" said (Y/n).
Steve felt that he was being gutted emotionally. That he did this to her and she was being played by him. And that wasn't the worst thing to happen. She found love with a guy that wasn't him. Which was always going to be sticking with him now forever on.
"Who is the man that you shall be marrying?" asked Steve to her.
"All though it's none of your business....It is Bucky Barnes, your best friend!" said (Y/n) to Steve.
And with those last words she left him there stunned. He was both happy and sad now. He was happy that his best friend and ex gf found love together. Sad that he really had no say in this anymore. He was going to have to be carrying on with this knowledge.
