A few days later, things had finally settled down, and Mizuki, alongside Ena, had promised to meet up with An and Rui, who had been worried ever since the festival ended.
“It’s been a while since i’ve seen them” There was no helping it, she was scared. Not scared of seeing them, those two had already accepted her long ago. But she was scared of the world. “It’s ok…Ena will be with you…it’s going to be fine…” Just as Mizuki was finishing preparing, she hears the doorbell and then hears as her mother greets a guest.
“Good morning Ms. Akiyama, my name is Ena Shinonome and i am-” Before she could properly introduce herself, the guest hears someone running downstairs.
“Ena! You’re here!” Mizuki runs and clings to her immediately, to her mother’s surprise.
“Ara! You two are such good friends! Mizuki has only ever been so clingy with Rui-kun” She stares at them and quickly comes to an accurate conclusion. “Wait…is she…Oh my”
Mizuki clicks her tongue. She was clearly embarrassed, but she didn’t let go of Ena. She was still the extremely cheerful Mizuki that Ena met a few years ago, but she had changed after all that happened. She had gotten a new particularly bitter side to her that showed from time to time. By this point, Ena had realized that that was also a part of the real Mizuki, it was quite surprising at first, but before long, Ena grew to love this side of Mizuki too, hence why Mizuki didn’t care about showing it.
“Yeah, yeah, she’s my girlfriend, happy?” Her mother just sighed and looked at Ena. “Please take care of her, she can be a bit of a handful” With a smile, she sends them off.
The two of them walk towards a certain cafe, where they agree to meet An and Rui to reassure Mizuki of their friendship.
The second they arrive, An smiles before running to Mizuki. She immediately slaps her before hugging her crying. “You idiot…” Mizuki is taken aback. “Don’t leave us again…”
“Sorry…An” Mizuki breaks down in tears as Ena approaches Rui.
“Thank you, Ena-kun…for saving Mizuki…and for agreeing to meet us today” He gives her a warm smile. The young man waits until An lets Mizuki go and approaches her himself.
“Welcome back, Mizuki” Tears. His eyes were filled with tears. She suddenly remembers that day, the day they broke up. Rui rarely cried, if ever. But when it came to Mizuki, he was particularly emotional.
“I’m so sorry…Rui…” Jealousy attacked Ena’s heart again, but she didn’t care. Both Mizuki and Rui needed this. They were more than just friends. The two of them had dated and had been there for each other at their worst. So it was only natural that they’d still hold on to their affection for each other.
After a tearful reunion, the four of them sit to talk about all that happened. An sits together with Rui, while Ena decides to sit next to Mizuki.
“Ena gave us a little insight on what happened, but we wanted to hear it from you too…” An’s commentary made Mizuki shiver, but Ena holds her hand under the desk, giving her the courage she needed.
Mizuki then proceeds to explain what happened, from being outed and running away from Ena, to cutting ties with everyone and her dissapearance, as well as how Ena never gave up chasing for her. All this while being particularly careful as to not reveal any information regarding SEKAI.
The group talked for a while until Mizuki was finally able to relax around An and Rui.
“By the way, Ena-kun” Rui takes a deep breath. “You better take good care of Mizuki and not make her sad, or else, i will make you regret it” His voice was quite hostile, yet Ena did not feel the least bit intimidated, only becoming even more determined to make Mizuki happy.
“Don’t worry, I won't let her feel sad again! I will stay by her side” Ena seemed determined, enough to quell Rui’s concerns. He smiles at her. “I think we can leave now…seeya, Mizuki”
He then whispers something to Ena “Be careful when dating her, she can be a little possessive” and as the two of them leave, Mizuki approaches Ena. “What did Rui tell you there in the end?” Ena just glances at her and smirks “That’s a secret”
“Ena you meanie!”
