Sirius gasped. How was that possible? It couldn't have been a time turner, they didn't make you younger. Perhaps it was that veil? Maybe it didn't really kill you?
Sirius didn't really care about that, to be honest.
His mind was racing with thousands of different thoughts.
Why was he here? He never wanted to be in this wretched house again, with his cruel mother, his violent father, his brother...
His brother! Regulus! He died because he joined the Death eaters, right? Maybe he could save him this time, make sure his parents didn't influence his views that much, take him to the Potters too, he was sure they would take him in.
The Potters. He could save James and Lily, and stop Peter from joining the Death Eaters! He could do so so much, make sure so so many people could live the life they deserved...
Maybe even get back together with Remus. The two of them had broken up in fifth year, after the Prank, and their friendship had never been the same again. They had only been together for about three months. Sirius didn't find it fair, that after years of mutual pining, they would have so little time because of his stupid mistake.
He could fix all this now.
Life had given him another chance.
But all that had to wait until he got into Hogwarts. Kreacher had said that he would miss his first day if he was late, that meant he didn't have to spend any longer in this house of Nightmares!

After getting dressed quickly, Sirius ran downstairs. He had been punished by his parents enough to know what would happen if he was late. Thankfully, he had made it on time. Sirius looked up at his mother's sharp, impatient face for the first time in years.
Walpurga Black was a beautiful woman. She had long, black hair, cheekbones that could cut paper and piercing grey eyes, like all Blacks. The family madness that would eventually consume her was already starting to show hints on her face and her stern gaze was filled with cruelty.
"There you are, Sirius." her voice cut through the silence. "What took you so long?" "I was getting dressed, maman. I couldn't decide what to wear." "Interesting. I told Kreacher to lay out an outfit for you to wear this morning. Did he not obey?" "H-he did, maman, but you know house elves. They have dreadful sense in clothing."
Sirius couldn't bring himself to look her in the eyes. After all this time, he was still afraid of the old hag.
"Well, make sure this is a one-time thing. I will not let you off the hook easy next time you are late. As Louis XVIII said: "L'exactitude est la politesse des rois."
Sirius nodded, glad that he didn't have to face her wrath that early in the morning.
"Of course, maman. This will never happen again." She nodded, curtly.
"Will father or Regulus come with us?"
"No.Your brother has french lessons and your father has a meeting with the Wizengamot. Neither of them will be accompanying us. I expect you have your luggage ready?" Without waiting for an answer she reached out her hand and a black and silver trunk flew into it. "Let's leave, shall we?"
Walpurga grabbed Sirius' shoulder, her sharp nails digging into his skin. Within a second, Grimmauld place was gone and they were standing on the platform. Sirius looked around and grinned. He had always liked this place. It meant goodbye to a cold home where he wasn't welcome, and hello to a year full of mischief. He couldn't spot any of the other marauders yet. That was alright, he supposed. He would see them on the train. "May I leave, maman?" He asked. His Mother nodded, and her lips curled slightly. That was the closest to a smile he had ever seen from her. "Make your family proud, son." she said. Then she turned around and disappeared.
Sirius took his trunk and entered the train.
He looked for the compartment where he had met the others for the first time. It didn't take long before he found it. He opened the door a little bit. The compartment was empty so far. That was alright, he was early anyway. Sirius put his trunk up in one of the overhead compartments and sat down. And waited. And waited.
Suddenly, the door was opened slightly and a voice that he loved so so much asked him: "Excuse me, May I sit here?"
Sirius grinned at the owner of the voice. "Of course! It's empty anyway. I'm Sirius. And you are?" The other one smiled. "Remus. My Name is Remus."
