Chapter 17
Ron was walking by his room when he saw Harry's owl fly to the window. He immediately rushed towards her. He felt like he'd been waiting for ages to hear from Harry. He was worried about him, especially after what had just happened to Sirius. His mother told him that that Dumbledore had assured her that he was getting letters from him every three days, and that he probably wasn't writing anyone else because he was too upset, but it just didn't seem right to Ron. Something was off.
"Hey, Hedwig," Ron said as he pet her for a second before gently taking the letter from her and opening it up. He immediately began to read it.
Hey, Mate,
Sorry I haven't written until now. My summer has been pretty hectic. Yeah, you didn't think I could have one normal summer, did you? At least no one's trying to kill me yet. Anyway, be prepared to be shocked. I'm not with the Dursley's anymore. I'm living in America now. It turns out the Dursley's weren't my only relatives. No, scratch that. They weren't my relatives at all. I was adopted, sort of. My parents weren't Lily and James Potter, like everyone thought. My parents are actually Americans. They took me from the Dursley's right after I got there.
Ron stood there for a minute, gaping like a fish. "Bloody hell!" He definitely wasn't expecting that. Out of everyone in the world, Harry was the last one he would assume was adopted. Everyone said he looked just like James Potter. Of course, there was always blood adoption. In any event, he decided to continue with his friend's letter.
I bet you're shocked, right? Imagine how I feel. The first time I met these people was when they took me away from the Dursley's. Then they told me they were my parents. Just so you know, I have proof of it. Hermione helped me with a potion. Yes, I, said Hermione. It's a long story. Anyway, I just wanted you to know, in case you thought they were death eaters.
Things are actually going pretty well, much better than they were at the Dursleys. I wasn't sure about living with strangers at first, but things are going pretty good. I'm living with my father now. My parents are divorced. My mother comes over at least once a day. I have my own room and things of my own that I didn't have to buy myself. I also have three sisters, though I haven't met them yet. I'm actually starting to think I might be happy here.
Ron, do me a favor and don't tell your parents about this. You can tell Ginny and the twins, but I don't want your parents to know. They'll tell Dumbledore, and I don't trust him since Sirius' death. I also think he might know the truth about me. He told me I was protected at the Dursley's because of blood wards. I don't share any blood with the Dursley's. He would have known that if he even tried to put up blood wards. It's either that or he lied about the blood wards. Either way, I can't trust him.
Anyway, I should go for now. I'll write you again as soon as I can. Remember what I said though, mate. Please don't tell your parents.
Harry
After finishing the letter, Ron raced out of his room. He ran down to Ginny's room and burst in without knocking.
"What do you think you're doing?" Ginny asked in an irritated tone. She didn't appreciate her brother bursting into her room like this.
Instead of answering, ran rushed forward and grabbed Ginny off of her bed by the arm. "Come with me."
"I don't appreciate being dragged, Ron. Let go," Ginny said before pulling her arm free. She continued to follow him, though.
Ron ran down to the Twins room next. Again, he entered without knocking. He found the twins packing to go to their new flat.
"Can we help you?" Fred and George asked in unison.
"He literally dragged me down here," Ginny grumbled irritably.
Ron produced Harry letter. "I just got this letter from Harry."
All three of them huddled around their brother to see the letter. They all read it and slowly gap did shock. "Bloody hell!" all three of them spoke at once.
"Yeah, that's what I said," Ron said.
"Do you think he's trying to prank us?" Fred asked.
Ron shook his head. "He's been out of touch for weeks. This must be why."
"Plus, I don't think he's in the prank mood after the hell he's been through," Ginny added.
"So, Harry is adopted," George said in shock.
"Do you think we should tell Mum and Dad?" Ron asked. He knew Harry had asked him not to, and he didn't want to betray his friend, but he was still skeptical that this was true. He said he had proof, but what if he was wrong?
"No, you dolt," Ginny said, before cuffing her brother over the head. "Did you even read this? Harry specifically asked you not to tell them."
"I know, but what if this really is a trick? What if it's death eaters and they've managed to fool Harry?" Ron asked.
"He says Hermione helped him with a potion. He must mean a parentage potion. Those can't be faked," George said.
"I'm going to write Hermione, see what she knows about all this," Ron said.
"Good idea. In the meantime, though, no one tells Mum and Dad," Ginny said. Harry had asked them not to say anything. Unless it truly was a trick, they owed it to him to keep his secret.
"Agreed," the three Weasley brothers said. Ron then raced off to write his letter.

Phoebe was sitting with her son outside a small café. They were having lunch after taking Harry to the doctors. That had been an interesting visit. The doctor had immediately noticed the signs of abuse and neglect. Luckily, she and Cole prepared for that and had a cover story in place to keep the doctor from immediately calling Social Services. Phoebe told him that Harry had been taken from them, and that the people who did it had been abusing him. He seemed to believe that, especially when Harry corroborated it. It helped that the Pediatrician she took him to saw all three of her other children and never saw any signs of abuse.
Phoebe also took her son to get his eyes checked. It turned out, he didn't have an adequate prescription for his eyesight. Unfortunately, that didn't surprise Phoebe. The Dursley's had already more than proven they didn't care about Harry's well-being. They wouldn't have bothered to make sure his medical needs were met.
"So, what do you think about what the eye doctor told us? About maybe getting contacts?" Phoebe asked her son.
Harry shrugged. "I don't know. I don't really need them, and the doctor said they can be more expensive than glasses."
Phoebe sighed. Money was an issue with Harry. He was always worrying about how much was being spent on him. It was going to take time to get him out of that happened, but she was determined. She didn't want her son worrying about what they spent on him. "Honey, remember what we talked about. You don't need to worry about money. Your dad and I will decide if something's too expensive, and if it is, we'll tell you. This is medical expense, and that will never be too expensive. Do you want them?"
"I'm not sure. I don't how I feel about something on top of my eyes," Harry said honestly.
"Okay. Well, you don't have to decide right now. How about you think about it for a few days and then we can talk about it with your dad?" Phoebe asked. Cole hadn't been able to come to Harry's appointments because he had an interview at the DA's office to get his old job back. She would, of course, keep him informed though. It was surprising, but she and Cole were actually doing pretty well at the whole co-parenting thing. It was much easier than Phoebe thought it would be.
Harry nodded. "Okay."
"So, your dad told me that you've been asking about Coop. Is there anything you want to ask me?" Phoebe asked.
"Well, I asked him because I wanted an unbiased opinion, but Cole said he couldn't really give me one. He said that they didn't like each other much, but that I should form my own opinion," Harry said.
Phoebe had to admit that Cole had been very fair to Coop. He was honest with their son about how he felt, but he didn't try to force that opinion onto Harry. "That's good advice. Do you think you're ready to meet him? It's okay if you're not. We can give it a little more time if you're not."
"I should probably get it over with. Can Cole be there?" Harry asked. He would like as many people there that he knew as possible. It would just make him feel slightly better.
"If you want him there than, sure," Phoebe said. Cole wouldn't be thrilled, she was sure, but he would do it to help their son. Coop would really not be happy, but hopefully he wouldn't put up a fight over it. She was actually more worried about his reaction than Cole's. "I was thinking that we could start with you meeting Coop, and then you could meet the girls another day."
"Can't I meet them all at once? I'd rather not do this more than once," Harry said. He was already going to be really nervous meeting everyone. He'd rather meet everyone at the same time, so it was over with.
"If that's what you want, sure. We just thought it would be better to ease you into meeting everyone, but if you'd rather meet everyone at the same time, that's okay too. Actually, if you'd like we could do this at Piper's, and you could meet her kids and Piper's at the same time. We could make it a little party. We can all hang out by the pool," Phoebe said. Originally, she thought something like that would be too overwhelming, but it might actually be better. With all the kids together and playing at the Manor, it might be a little more relaxed and take the pressure off for Harry.
"Yeah, I think I'd like to do that," Harry said.
"Okay. I'll talk to Piper about it and try to set it up for the next week or two," Phoebe said.
Harry nodded and went back to his lunch.
