back to zero
When seoyeon woke up, she could barely remember a thing after last night’s dinner. Walking down stairs while trying her best to remember what might have happened last night was with no use but as it hit her, seoyeon was, to say the least, terrified.
“holy shit.” For a moment she forgot that her parents were there, enjoying their breakfast.
“language-”
“what happened sweetheart?”
“I fucked up.”
“language-“
“dad! It’s not the time for that!”
“okay what happened then.” Finally their full attention was on her now, so she sat down in front of them with her head in her hands.
“remember yooyeon?”
“yeah, your crush?”
“MOM!”
“continue.”
“last night after the wine, I called her because she told me to when I get here and I forgot, I was drunk, obviously, and I might’ve…kind of…drunkly confessed?” she was even more embarrassed now saying it out loud and hearing her dad let out the loudest laugh she ever heard coming from him, it got worse.
“oh sweetheart..”
“I know, I know, I feel so dumb, oh my god”
And as the conversation with her parents prolonged, seoyeon had one thought. no matter how much her mother kept on telling her to just talk it out with her roommate, seoyeon already decided from the moment she remembered what she did, that she will act like nothing happened and if yooyeon brought it up, she will just blame it on the wine.
Yooyeon still didn’t want to overthink seoyeon’s words, but today was the day the girl will be back to their dorm and yooyeon was excited, she knows seoyeon might not remember a single thing, she knows the girl might act like nothing was said but she also knows that maybe, just maybe they can actually talk it out.
But, when the girl came back, she acted like nothing happened, like the phone call didn’t happen in the first place as she re-told yooyeon about how her weekend went. she couldn’t hide her feelings really, she was disappointed, even tho she just hoped that the girl might at least remember, seoyeon didn’t and it stung.
“do you not remember anything else that happened that night?” this was her last hope, a yes or a no will determine what yooyeon should really feel about the situation.
“no? I just went to sleep right after.” It sounded so genuine and sincere that yooyeon wondered if seoyeon should get an award for this Oscar worthy performance, or if she really didn’t remember.
“anyway, did I miss anything around here?” seoyeon was acting strange in her eyes because if, this was the sroyeon she knew, she would've asked what the girl meant but she didn't and it hurts.
“nothing. I’m going to the library.” She didn’t mean to sound mad or cold or anything you want to call it but she was hurt in a way, you can’t blame her.
“okay?” with that she left the room.
Seoyeon wasn’t confused, she knew exactly why yooyeon was acting this way and she couldn’t blame the girl but she couldn’t help it either. She didn’t want to face whatever she told yooyeon over the phone the other day, and even tho any other human being would’ve actually talked it out because what if yooyeon was uncomfortable with it? What if she didn’t feel the same way? What if she just wanted to talk it out to reject seoyeon? All those thoughts are the reason why seoyeon refused to acknowledge the situation in the first place really.
Sighing she reached for her phone, she knew calling her friends won’t help her, they would probably laugh at her and call her stupid if she told them what happened but, she had nothing else to do, she was bored and if she stayed in her room doing nothing all day she would end up overthinking the situation even more.
“hey what’s up?” she called xinyu this time, naky would’ve been a pain in the ass to talk to anyway.
“wanna go out for a drink?”
“a drink? Seoyeon are you insane? It’s just 3 in the evening.”
“I know…I’m just…not feeling so well and in need for a drink…if you can’t join me right now, you’ll find me in the bar 3 blocks away from nakyoung’s dorm. Call her and tell her to come too if you want, bye!”
Xinyu didn’t have the time to answer before seoyeon hang up. As she looked at nakyoung who was looking at her all curious from across the room, she sighed.
“something is definetly wrong.”
“what do you mean?” naky was even more confused.
“it was seoyeon. She asked if I was down for a drink. It’s 3pm and she’s already going to the bar 3 blocks away. She told me I’ll find her there if I decided to join her and to ask if you wanted to join too.”
“oh.” Well naky wasn’t expecting that. “yeah something is definitely wrong. She went to her parent’s house for the weekends maybe it’s that?”
“shit. Let’s go.”
The two girls didn't expect to find themselves in a bar at 4 in the evening but here they were, looking around for their obviously not okay friend.
This was the first time xinyu ever set foot in a bar and it wasn’t as she expected, loud and full of life but maybe it was the fact that it was a Monday evening, and everyone is still clocked in at work at this hour.
She was pulled out of her thoughts as nakyoung dragged her across the bar. There she was, seoyeon, a beer in hand, playing around with the tissues on her table, looking absolutely out of it.
As they sat down, seoyeon looked up, and smiled a very tired smile and okay the girl didn’t look okay at all. That was concerning enough for xinyu to focus on nothing other than her friend in that moment.
“was it your parents?” see this is why seoyeon didn’t call nakyoung. So straightforward all the time and for what.
“no?” oh yeah they didn’t know what happened in her parents house because she was so happy that the first person she wanted to tell was yooyeon of course.
“oh? What happened then?” this time it was xinyu who asked, with a softer voice, concern laced in her tone, this is exactly why she called xinyu, a big contrast to nakyoung.
“me and yooyeo-”
“girl, not again.”
“naky woud you please shut up and let her finish her sentence at least.”
“fine.”
“thanks xinyu.” Seoyeon sent xinyu a grateful smile as she continued.
“we didn’t fight, I did something stupid.” Both her friends were focused on her now so she finished “I drunkly confessed over the phone the other day when I was over at my parents house.”
Silence.
Xinyu couldn’t hide her surprise because, one, when did seoyeon even catch feelings for her roommate, two, why did seoyeon call yooyeon but not them that day? She was kinda offended but that wasn’t the actual problem right now because seoyeon looked broken.
“did you get rejected?” here goes nakyoung again with her straightforwardness. Sigh.
“god, no..” that made xinyu even more confused because, if yooyeon didn’t reject her why did seoyeon look like a kicked puppy?
“then what is the problem here?” it was naky. Again.
“I…” c’mon talk “I’m acting like nothing happened. And she’s pissed.” This dumbass.
“are you dumb?” xinyu couldn’t blame nakyoung this time because what was seoyeon even thinking?
“yeah she’s right, are you dumb?” seoyeon felt betrayed, why was xinyu calling her dumb as well.
“you were supposed to be on my side xinyu!”
“yeah not anymore, dumbass, what was the thought process behind this decision even?”
“let me get this straight-“ it was nakyoung again. “you went to your parents house, which by the way, you still didn’t tell us what happened. Got drunk for some reason? Called your roommate who you are apparently in love with? drunkly confessed as well and now you are acting like you said nothing and the girl is mad?”
Silence again.
“yeah I can’t really blame her.”
“nakyoung would you please shut up!”
“I can’t when you are acting like a fucking dumbass girl.”
Xinyu had enough of both of them really and she had no solution for seoyeon’s problem either so, as she drifted her eyes around to take a good look at the bar she spotted something, more like someone, a girl who was looking back at her straight in the eyes. A barista who was obviously waiting for them to finish whatever conversation they were having to come and take her's and nakyoung’s order, and the girl in xinyu’s eyes looked way too...fine to be working at a bar of all places?
And okay listen, xinyu was known as a men hater, since the day she was born, she couldn’t even stand her own father and as years went by and as she grew older, her hatred for men just grew even bigger which led her to attend a girls only middle school, high school and now college. So she wasn’t going to hide her interest in the barista and with that she called the girl over.
“Hello, welcome to vision nightclub, how can I help you?” With that the bickering of the other two stopped and looking up they found a girl, their age probably, a barista apparently.
Looking at her nakyoung noticed the name tag, park sohyun. Next thing she noticed was xinyu who had all her focus on the attractive, short haired barista and in that moment she knew that soon, she will either be third wheeling her friends and their dates or holding both of them in her arms as they cried themselves to sleep, swearing to never fall in love with a girl again. Sigh.
