Epilogue
(╥﹏╥)
~2 years later~
Location: hotel in Paris
*Author pov*
Sophia sighs as she sits on the balcony of her hotel room with a glass of wine in hand during sundown. It's been a while since she has been able to relax like this, and she's enjoying every second she can. She takes in the fresh air, the sounds of the city nightlife waking up, and the stunning view. As she takes a sip from her glass, her thoughts stray to her girlfriend Manon. These last few days, she hasn't texted or called Sophia. It isn't like Manon to ghost her like this.
None of the messages Sophia sent were answered, even though they were read. Sophia isn't someone to wait around for attention; if she doesn't get it, then so be it. But she expected at least one message from Manon when she was on her mission, asking if she was okay, or how her day was, but she received silence instead.
Sophia thinks about calling her but instead she chooses to put on her favorite dress and go enjoy the nightlife. Why should she sit in her room, depressed? She'd rather enjoy some music with a drink and people.
So, Sophia opens her luggage and takes out her evening dresses. She looks at the options: a short red skin-tight dress, a long black strapless flowy dress with a slit, and a black bodysuit. She chooses the black dress and pairs it with a pair of black red-bottom heels, a black leather jacket, and a red purse.
After putting on the clothing, she puts on her make-up and lets her luscious hair fall over her shoulders. She finishes her look with a distinct red lipstick and heads out into the Paris nightlife. Everywhere Sophia went, she turned heads, and she knew it. But no amount of compliments could fill up the emptiness she felt within her.
Sophia enters a luxurious bar and takes a seat on one of the cushioned stools. She orders a glass of wine from the handsome bartender and downs it in one go. She sighs contentedly at the slight burn of the alcohol and immediately orders another glass. At first, Sophia considers asking one of the people in the bar to dance, but ultimately feels too guilty to do so.
She throws the black glass and orders another one again, and it goes on like that for a while until she feels her head start to spin slightly. That's when Sophia decides to return to her hotel room. When she arrives, she changes into her pajamas and takes out her phone. In Sophia's memory, she fell asleep after that, but unbeknownst to her, her finger grazed the send button and a message was sent.

~the next day~
Sophia groans and holds her hand before her eyes to block the sunrays peeking through the curtains. She gasps as she feels a splitting headache when she sits upright, and curses quietly.
"You shouldn't curse so early in the morning." A voice sounds from Sophia's left.
Sophia immediately takes out her gun from under the bed and points it at the owner of the voice. She sighs in relief when she realizes it's Manon, but then puts up her guard again. How did Manon get into her room? And why did she come to Paris?
"What are you doing here?" Sophia asks suspiciously.
"Can't I join my girlfriend on her trip?"
"Not if you've been ghosting her for days," Sophia says, a hint of hurt in her voice.
Manon looks at Sophia apologetically and hands her a glass of water with a pill.
"I deserve that." Manon sighs. "Here, drink this."
Sophia takes the glass from her hands and swallows the pill. Sighing as the pain slowly starts to decrease. Manon chuckles at Sophia's cute expression and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. Sophia blushes at Manon's actions and lies back down, but Manon takes away her blanket. Sophia whines.
"Why?"
"You can't go back to sleep. Not yet."
"Why not?"
"I need to make up for ghosting you over the past few days, so we're going out. Come on."
Sophia sends a playful glare Manon's way.
"You waited for so many days, I'm sure you can wait for a few more hours," Sophia says sassily.
"Fine, but I'm sleeping with you."
Manon slips in beside Sophia, wraps her arms around her waist, and buries her nose in her neck, after placing the blanket over them. They fall asleep together and don't wake up until the moon is high up in the sky.
Sophia wakes up first and immediately heads to the bathroom to take a much-needed shower. After she's stood under the showerhead for a while, the door to the bathroom opens and Manon walks in. They end up showering together and enjoy a nice cup of tea together on the balcony after finishing.
"So, what made you come here?" Sophia asks Manon curiously.
"You."
"Me?"
"Yes, you. You don't remember sending me a text?"
Sophia racks her brain, trying to think about last night's events, but nothing comes up.
"No, I'm sorry. Can I see?"
"Sure."
Manon goes inside and takes her phone, handing it to Sophia after coming back out. Sophia unlocks the phone and goes to the messenger, where her name stands at the top. She opens the chat and reads what she sent.
Mannie...I miss you. Do you hate me? I loveeeee youuu <3
Sophia blushes and puts the phone down. She looks up at Manon, who once again has an apologetic expression on her face.
"I'm sorry I made you feel lonely. I swear that was never my intention."
"What were your intentions?"
"Let's go for a walk. I'll explain to you on the way." Manon smiles mischievously, and Sophia looks at her with suspicion.
She ultimately nods and wears her long black trench coat. The couple leaves the hotel and walks around the beautiful park nearby. They find a bench to sit on, and Sophia leans her head on Manon's shoulder. They stay in a comfortable silence as they take in the beauty of the stars and the sounds of each other's breathing. Manon kisses the top of Sophia's head and squeezes her hand lightly.
"Soph..." She whispers.
"Mhm?"
"About why I ghosted you..."
Manon sighs nervously and stands up. She takes Sophia's hands and goes down on one knee. Sophia gasps.
"Manon..."
"I wanted to give you the perfect proposal by the beach during sundown, but this isn't half bad." Manon takes a deep breath before continuing.
"We've known each other for a long time, and it's because of you that I am the woman I am today. Through thick and thin, through bullets and knives, you have stayed by my side, and I hope to stay by yours for as long as I live. Sophia Laforteza, the love of my life,"
Manon takes a box out of her pocket and opens it, revealing a beautiful heart-shaped diamond ring.
"Will you allow me the honor of calling you my wife?"
Sophia wipes away the tears of happiness that fell and pulls Manon in a tight hug.
"Yes! Of course I will!" Manon tears up too, and gently slides the ring onto Sophia's finger before pulling her into a kiss, marking the end of a story, and the start of another.
