It was common knowledge in the ocean world that pirates and mermaids have been allies for centuries. Why? Well, a trans-fem pirate named Kym knows. This is her story.

When Kym was sixteen and still a boy, she joined a gang of pirates after running away from home. It was a short four months of being a pirate when Kym realised she was unhappy with her body. When she came out as trans to the other pirates, they didn’t mind. In fact, the first mate was non-binary, they said.
“Wait, really? So, how chill are you guys with the rest of the queer community?” Kym asks, her eyes wide with astonishment.
“On a scale from allies to almost everyone on this ship is gay? Yes.” The chef nods. “Also, the mermaids are lesbians.”
~Five years later~
Kym, now a mermaid (by choice, she was offered a chance to stay with the pirates if she wanted. She politely declined, but asked if they could remain friends. Turns out most pirate gangs and mermaid groups are friends by default), is much happier with her life. Until a gang of sailors led by her father (ew, we hate that guy) showed up. Luckily, the pirates were in the area and helped Kym and the mermaids drown the sailors.

For years to come, Kym enjoyed her life as a mermaid, drowning sailors who tried to capture other mermaids for experiments and vibing with the pirates. She got a girlfriend, adopted an orphan mer-baby and lived happily ever after.
