Windows To The Heart
Summary
Max (Never Maxine) has always been enamoured by the comfort of the window to the outside world. Especially the one on her second floor dorm room.Victoria (Queen of Blackwell) has always been enamoured with a certain ‘Hipster Dork’ that shares her photography class. It’s even better since she’s just across the hall..
Note
This isn’t finished, nor did I have a plot for it. I might come back for it

Sat on her windowsill like usual, Max plucks a leaf from Lisa, her slowly dying dorm-plant.

‘I really gotta water you more often,’ she thinks to herself.

She rips up the leaf and drops the pieces out the window, watching them all flutter softly down to the ground. She wouldn’t say it’s windy, but it’s certainly not cosy either.

A soft ray of knocks shakes her out of her thoughts, “Come in!” She calls out.

“Hey Max,” She smiles, her mood lightening some.

“Hey Kate! How ya doin’?” She asks with a grin watching as the soft-spoken girl ahead of her shuffles foot to foot.

“I’m okay.. just.. trying my best, I know that God has his plans for me.. so..” She looks up to her friend, frowning some when she realises where she’s sat. “Max.. I know you like the window but you need to be careful.. what if you fell and got hurt or- or..”

Max smiles Kate has always been one to think ahead on these things, especially since Rachel Amber was found alive. She’s overthought so many things, not just the party. “I’m fine Kate! See I’ve propped it lower than before see-“ she motions to the stick holding the window up.

“I trust you max..” The quiet girl whispers. “I just.. wanted to thank you.. for your help, as well as Dana and Alyssa.. you’ve all.. been a great help for me. So.. thank you.”

She smiles softly, her expression still sodden but happier than before as she turns to leave. “Awh, Thanks Kate! Anytime!” Max calls out as Kate leaves the room.

Walking through the School had always been an experience that Victoria loved. As students cowered and hid as she walked by she knew she loved what she did. Yet, a part of her (very, very small) knew she wanted something more.. someone more. Maybe that someone would be clad in a grey hoodie..? Shoulder length brown hair that she dreamt of combing out and deep blue eyes she could just swim in—

Clearing her throat Victoria carries on. She doesn’t need anyone. She’s the Queen of Blackwell. This shitty school doesn’t need or want anything else. But does she..?

”Nath— uh..” she pauses, remembering her best friend is no longer.. mentally… here..

”Courtney. You and Taylor go get my books from Mark— from the Photography classroom. I have something to attend to.” She orders, stuttering only slightly before carrying on, sending one half hearted glance at the two girls who rush off to appease her. She’s been a little, off recently.. which could explain the way her friends are acting around her. As if she’d break at any moment.

No matter. The show must go on.

Stepping outside she glances around, the bright light of the sun mocks her as the wind sways branches gently along in a rhythmic dance. Yet, something calls for her to go toward the dorms.. something in her gut.

Stampede of steps echo through the girls dormitories as two very excited individuals rush towards their respective friends room. “C’mon Rach’! We gotta tell MaxiPad!”

Laughing along, Rachel follows Chloe through the hallway. “Slow down Chlo!” She calls after the blue haired beauty that was her girlfriend.

”no way!” As they reach door 219 Chloe grins, kicking the door open with a thud she barrages in with Rachel on her tail, startling the room’s occupant, who just barely catches her balance, not hearing the creak of wood scraping wood as she does.

”Chloe! Jeez! You scared me!” She laughs partially as she catches her breath.

“hey Max,” Rachel waves with a smile, hardly panting from the run.

”no time for hellos! Maximus! Guess what!” The excited blue haired punk ricochets through the room, moving forward, “We got tickets to see Firewalk! Live!”

The two trespassers dance about cheering. Clearly excited for this experience.

Moving her hand backwards to support herself Max hums, tilting her head to the side as she thinks. “Good on you..?” She tries yet the lack of enthusiasm catches Chloe off guard. Instantly digging into Max on backstory and reasoning.

Walking further through the property. Victoria tries to understand this feeling in her gut, sighing she can’t seem to comprehend what could be holding her hostage in her thoughts.

Stepping round the corner of the dormitories, she glances up, the usually open window of one grey hoodie wearing, School Hipster jolts. She tilts her head, confused she’s always seen the window open, never closed or even moving. ‘Huh..’

Something falls from the window, something small and thin, yet from the distance it looks like it could be anything but she doesn’t stop to think on it. It’s like slow motion when someone’s head pokes out the window when she actually does pause. ‘What is going on?’ Soon its not just a head looking for a dropped item, more and more of that familiar girl comes out the window until she’s dangling dangerously by the foot.

“MAX!” Someone calls out panicked voice breaking. It takes a moment for Victoria to realise it was her who shouted.
