End of the Cult
Aconite took in the slaughter surrounding her with amused eyes, seems like Leon either got his hands on an assload of machine gun ammo and rocket launchers or backup had arrived.
She was betting on the later if she was honest, but with no way to contact H.Q., she couldn't be sure.
Passing through the ruins that seemed to make up most of the island, Aconite sighed as she came across the site of a crashed helicopter.
Backup had arrived, but this one was down.
'Too bad looks like he was a good aim.' she thought as she continued on her path.
Seeing the ruins turn into what seemed to be a military installation, Aconite wondered how Leon had gotten so far ahead of her.
Not that she wasn't pleased to see the bodies he left in his wake, being reminded of just how capable he was always sent a thrill through her.
It would take her thirty minutes, activating her Hunter Sense, to catch up to him and Ashley right as they found the machine to remove the latter's plaga.
"Nite, what took you so long?" Leon asked, stepping away from the machine at her insistence.
"I'll explain when we get home. Ashley, I won't lie," Aconite stated as she accessed the machine.
"What is it?" Ashley questioned, trusting the older woman who gave her a grim smile.
"From what I'm seeing, the operation is going to cause an increasing amount of pain depending on how developed your plaga is. From the data," Aconite said as she took a flash drive from Leon, plugging it into the machine to copy its data, "it's easiest when the plaga is just an egg, your's is a nearly matured plaga. It's gonna hurt."
Aconite explained as Ashley sat in the chair.
"Okay, I'm ready," Ashley muttered, her form trembling from fear.
"You're not, but it'll have to do." Aconite gave her a small smile before starting the operation, the younger woman crying out in pain as the plaga was destroyed.
The entire operation took five minutes at most, and for Leon, it was the longest five minutes in his life having to listen to Ashley's agony filled screams.
Aconite didn't even flinch; she'd made those screams in her past and heard them plenty from other experiments.
Once it was over, she walked over and pulled Ashley into a quick hug, petting her hair, before pulling away and saying, "I'm going after Saddler, you get Ashley out of here."
"Aconite, you sure?"
"Yes, Saddler will likely cause a self-destruct sequence to blow the island, I can handle it with my speed, you cant. See you in thirty."
Aconite told him as she pointed toward a sign.
"That says dock, so there should be a boat or something. Take it and go."
"Nite,"
"Go"
"But Ms. Wesker,"
"Ashley, I'm a B.O.W., even if I don't act it. I'll be fine."
Aconite assured before she took off through the maze of hallways as the others looked for the dock.
Taking a lift to a construction platform, passing the Merchant a final time, she immediately spotted Ada tied to a crane hook.
"Ada," Aconite sighed, seeing the spy was unconscious.
"Ah, Ms. Wesker, I expected Mr. Kennedy." Saddler's oily voice called from the shadows as Aconite turned to him.
"Sorry, you'll have to deal with me instead. Leon is getting Ashley off this island, and don't even think about using the little mind control trick. I removed the plaga."
Aconite sniffed, transforming her hand into her 'whip fist' and freeing Ada.
"What?!"
"I removed the plaga, Leon and Ashley are probably off the island by now. I came here to tie up loose ends."
Aconite repeated, helping Ada up who'd woke during the fall.
"You okay?"
"I've been better, good idea to send Leon away with Ashley."
Ada responded as she stood beside the tyrant when Saddler started laughing.
"What's so funny?" Aconite asked with a tilt of her head.
"Oh, I think you know. The American prevailing is a cliche that only happens in your Hollywood movies. Oh, Ms. Wesker, you entertain me. To show my appreciation, I will help you awaken from your world of cliches."
Saddler began only to choke as she cleared the fifty-foot distance in the blink of an eye, her arm piercing his torso and his heart in her hand.
Retching her arm back through his torso, she held his still-beating heart up, showing it to him.
The plaga within his heart squealed as she crushed his heart.
"I'm sorry to say, but you are the cliche here," Aconite cooed, shaking her hand to fling the remnants of his heart from her skin.
"You...bitch," Saddler groaned as he collapsed, a metal cylinder rolling out of his robes and stopping against her foot.
Reaching down to pick it up, she felt Ada step up behind her, gun pressed to her head.
"You realize that I could probably knock that gun away before you pull the trigger right," Aconite stated as she held the cylinder out to the side.
"Maybe, maybe not. Hand it over." Ada said, reaching out to take the cylinder, the vial containing a sample of the plaga parasite.
Aconite didn't stop her, merely stepped away once Ada took the sample to turn and look at her.
"What happens now?" Aconite asked as Ada tucked the sample away in her dress.
"We go our separate ways unless you want to fight with the limited time you have left."
Ada informed as she ran to the end of the platform, jumping over the ledge only to reappear in a helicopter.
"Ada!" Aconite hissed as the spy pulled out a hand-held detention device, pushing the button.
"Gotta go. If I were you, I'd get off the island as soon as possible." Ada smirked, tossing something to her.
Aconite caught it reflexively, looking to see it was a jetski key.
"Better get a move on!" Ada yelled as the chopper took off.
Aconite held the key up, looking at the teddy bear keychain, and scoffed before hauling ass to the dock.
Dodging falling rocks as the island collapsed on the jetski was almost too easy as Aconite soared through the escape tunnel, whooping in joy as she escaped the tunnel with a geyser of water right behind her.
Spotting a boat in the distance, she rode over to see Leon and Ashley in the same speedboat they'd reached the island on.
"Aconite," Ashley sighed in relief as she parked the jetski beside the boat.
"Told you not to worry," Aconite grinned, moving onto the boat and pushed Leon out of the driver's seat.
"Hey!" Leon protested only to cower at her glare.
"Leon, you've crashed one police cruiser, two ATVs, three jeeps, two speedboats, and three jet skis, how you ever got your damn license is a mystery."
Aconite deadpanned making him pout and Ashley snicker.
"Fine, let's go home." Leon pouted causing Ashley to smile.
"Sounds like a great idea. Mission accomplished! Right, Leon? Aconite?"
"Not quite. We still have to get you home safe." Leon corrected, looking back at her as Aconite started the boat and turned toward the mainland.
"So, who was that woman anyway? The one in red?" Ashley questioned, watching as Leon reached over and took Aconite's hand in his, their fingers intertwining.
"Why do you ask?" Leon questioned, glancing back at her.
"Come on. Tell me! You and Aconite seemed to know her!"
"She's like a part of us that we can't let go. Let's leave it at that." Leon sighed as the mainland came into view.
Reaching the mainland the radio crackled to life, Aconite answering it to see Hunnigan without her glasses.
"Hunnigan, is that you?" Leon questioned, looking at the image on the screen.
Finally...the line's jack-free.
"Yep, how ya doing Hunnigan?" Aconite chirped as Leon noted the lack of glasses.
"Hey Hunnigan, no glasses?"
I'm good and forget the glasses. What's the status of the mission?
"We've rescued the subject and eliminated the cult. We're returning home." Leon informed.
You did it! Good work!
Hunnigan praised as Aconite looked back to Ashley.
"Thanks, Hunnigan. I, for one, can't wait to be home." Aconite stated, her companions nodding in agreement.
Get to the extraction point and you'll be home soon. I'll alert them you're on the way.
Aconite nodded and hung up before shrugging, her body relaxing slightly but still on guard in case there were lingering cult members.
