Note
Hi guys! This is my first fan fiction ever, so I hope that it’s alright. Please give me any feedback or notes you have so that I can improve it. Also please note that I have only seen the first 5 episodes of arcane and all my knowledge of it comes from tiktok and ao3 😞 so please correct me if I make a mistake :)

Chapter 1

She looked almost magical standing there, the sun grasped on to the ends of her hair, making the usual dark color shine in a golden hue as she turned. Her eyes closed in peaceful contemplation, her lashes fluttering once in a while as she fought back the urge to face the sun. Jayce seemed to stare forever, unable to remove his gaze from the hauntingly beautiful Mel Medarda. When she opened her eyes and met his gaze, he felt his heart grow and dance, his pulse quickening. She smiled and he couldn’t help but smile as well at the way her eyebrows raised slightly and her lips curved at the edges. Jayce gazed at her, in admiration or love, he did not know.

“We should get back, your meeting with Heimerdinger is soon.” Mel said, slowly getting up from the soft grass. It fluttered in the wind, as if begging her to come back. Jayce broke out of her captivating trance.

“Sure. You go ahead, I’ll be there in five.” He told her, wanting some time to himself first. She frowned yet nodded and began to walk back inside one of the academy's buildings. Jayce watched her go and then turned back to the sun. It would soon be time for him to present his ideas to Heimerdinger so he could begin his project for his masters. Jayce felt the grass beneath his fingers, cold without the protection of the sun. He looked up, the once bright sun now was covered by the clouds, yet it was still shining, golden, behind the clouds. Jayce should feel confident. He always was. Yet today he felt unsure, skeptical. Jayce looked down towards the grass and this time he felt alone. He had been preparing his notes, research, and prototypes for almost 3 years before he could present them to Heimerdinger in order to continue his research, yet he had nobody to share this with. After the explosion in his workshop, Cait had become less interested in his actual ideas and instead in finding the culprit, not only of the explosion but in other cases. He was proud of her for becoming an enforcer, yet without her to talk to, he felt lonely. He looked back up to the sky, where the clouds had further encased the sun. The sun’s glow still reached him, though, giving him light. He remembered Mel, and Heimerdinger, both waiting on his ideas. Jayce got up and walked towards the academy.
