Chapter 65

Yamato has just kind of been staring at King for the past 20 minutes, sprawled out on the couch in King’s wing of the castle, eating a pack of twizzlers that Ace had brought her the last time he’d visited. And Yamato can say without a drop of doubt in her King looks like he’s seen a ghost.

Yamato waves one of her twizzlers at him, smacking the magazine he was looking at with it. “What’s got you so spooked, old man?” she asks, a smirk playing on her lips.

King’s eyes don’t leave the picture. “It’s just...” he paused, not exactly knowing what the fuck to say. Because currently he’s looking down at a picture of a Lunarian boy on a magazine of all things. King’s mind is racing, the only Lunarian that ever shows themselves in public is, well, himself, and then nobody knows what he looks like let alone that he’s a Lunarian. But here’s this boy, this boy named Angel, on the front page of a glossy magazine page sprawled out on a… something covered in silks, furs, and velvets as a human girl blaze on her stomach beside him, looking up at the camera with a smirk like neither of them have a care in the world. As the boy, Angel, looks at girl like she the most precious thing in the world. “There’s a Lunarian on the front cover page of a music magazine.”

Yamato’s smirk widens, she sits up now, placing the half eaten pack of twizzlers on the coffee table. “Oh really?” she takes the magazine from him, looking at the picture. She nods. “Yeah, that’s Bubblegum. She’s pretty popular. First time you’ve seen her?”

King’s jaw tightens, “No, I’ve never seen her before. But the boy, he’s a Lunarian. And he’s not even hiding it. What the hell is going on here?”

Yamato stuffed the rest of the swizzler into her mouth, shoving her hand down her shirt and pulling out her phone, typing away for a few seconds before bringing it up to her ear, holding the phone to her ear with her shoulder.

The phone rang once, twice, thrice, before it was picked up. "Hey, Ace, it's me," Yamato said into the phone, her eyes still on the magazine cover.

“Yamato, it’s like?… 7AM why are you calling me now?” Ace’s sleepy voice crackled through the phone line, sounding irritated.

“Who’s the dude on the magazine cover with your sister?” Yamato asked, her voice a mix of curiosity and amusement at Ace’s grogginess. She tapped her foot impatiently against the wooden floor.

“What? Hold on,” Ace mumbled, and the sound of rustling clothes and sheets echoed through the phone, accompanied by the sound of Ace putting his phone on speaker and typing something, Yamato presumes he’s using Google or something. “Oh, that’s Angel. He’s Luffy’s boyfriend.”

King’s eyes snapped up to meet Yamato’s. “What did you say?” His voice was a mix of shock and disbelief.

“Huh?… who was that?” Ace’s voice was muffled as if he had buried his face in a pillow. “Oh, that’s just King, no big deal,” Yamato replied casually, glancing over at the lunarian.

King’s mind was racing. A Lunarian out in the open, not just that but a boy at that? He had so many questions, but he remained silent, watching as Yamato talked to Ace.

“So, he’s Luffy’s boyfriend?” she asked, her voice a mix of curiosity and skepticism.
