Chapter 63
Kid quite sure what smoke, but it had to of been fucking good whatever it was.
He and the other two fuckers and their crews had somehow ended up on the same godforsaken island again, and somehow, without a doubt when their three separate crews are together they always somehow end up on the Thousand Sunny.
And yeah, Kid will admit he’s never actually realized how many fucking plants are on the Thousands Sunny. It’s like somebody smashed a botanical garden, but make every single plant it had in it smokable, and a ship together. It’s like a fucking jungle. And why is it that Luffy’s ship has to be the one with all the comforts of home? It’s like a floating Hotel California.
Kid had thought it might have, you know, the strawhats doctors plants, making pain meds, maybe something for anxiety, or something to make your dick harder, or something that's gonna make you trip out like you’re on a fucking carousel ride with no brakes. But no, apparently, every single last plant on that ship except for the tangerine tree, those are Nami, hold up wait a minute who Motherfucking tangerines! Who keeps a whole goddamn forest of tangerines?!
But back to the hypnotics, apparently every single last one of are Luffy’s, and apparently the guy knows every single last side effect of every single plant on this ship, because apparently, he’s the fucking botanical sherlock holmes of the sea. So yeah, they’re all stuck here together on this island waiting for their log poses to reset, which is about as fun as waiting for paint to dry.
But Luffy had all but drug him and Law away from their respective cruise like half an hour ago, saying something about exploring the island, but all Luffy did was drag them away to like nearly the other side of the island to some beach hidden from by a giant ass fucking cliff before opening the side of his button up shirt like he was a fucking drug dealer reviewing all sorts of dried up, rolled up, and whatever the fuck else plants he had stashed in there.
And yeah, here they are now, half an hour later, laying sprawled out on the sandy beach, and kids still has no fucking idea what he smoked. He's feeling pretty chill right now, the waves of the sea whispering sweet nothings to the shore, and the sun is setting like a giant fiery orange in the sky. The colors of the sunset seem more vivid than usual, like someone painted it with a brush soaked in a bottle of vodka. His thoughts are floating like the clouds above, and he can't help but feel a bit... different. He glances over at Law and Luffy, Who were sprawled out beside him, Law had at some point unabashedly laid beside Luffy, curled up, like fetus position curled up with his head resting on Luffy’s shoulderIsh-some-of-his-chest his back with his fur hat shading his eyes from the setting sun, looking like he's just stepped out of a fashion magazine for pirate chic. Luffy for his part didn’t seem to, laying there with a lazy arm slung around Law’s waist, and his other arm outstretched towards Kid like be a starfish.
Kid tries to sit up, but his body seems to have other plans. It's like gravity decided to play yo-yo with his limbs, and he's the yo-yo. "What the fuck did you give us, Strawhat?" he slurs out, his words coming out slower than molasses.
It takes Luffy a few seconds to answer, blinking sluggishly before he takes a deep breath. “Lavender, Calendula, Marshmallow Root, Weed, Thyme, Mugwort, Hops, Red raspberry leafs, Rose petals, White sage, Blue Lotus, Chamomile, and Chrysanthemum… not all mixed together though, n-no, it’s, huh?… yeah, not all mixed together though.” He waves his hand in the air with a dreamy smile, his eyes unfocused as he tries to remember all the different types of blends he made.
Law laughs a bit, his voice sounding as if it’s coming from the bottom of a well, “You’re such an idiot, Strawhat-ya. Did you have to go full apothecary on us?”
“Hey, at least I didn’t give you any of the Bl-B-bb!… Bad plants, I gave you the plants that are supposed to help with your health!” Luffy retorts, his eyes half-closed in a daze.
Kid snorts, trying to keep his face neutral but the smile tugging at the corner of his mouth gives him away. “Yeah, sure, Strawhat, like the kind that makes you feel like you’re floating on a cloud, or seeing shit that isn’t there?” His eyes glaze over as he watches the waves crash into the shore, the white foam briefly glowing with the hues of the sunset.
Luffy laughs, a sound that's as carefree as the sea breeze playing with the strands of his hair. “Nah, that’s not what I meant. But I guess you guys are feeling pretty good, huh?” He looks from Law to Kid, his own eyes a little too bright.
Kid squints at Luffy, the corners of his eyes crinkling. “You got that right, Stupid Monkey. I feel like I’m made of feathers. And Trafalgar over there looks like he’s about to hibernate with how cozy he’s got himself all curled up.”
Law cracks an eye open and glances over at Kid, his smile never leaving his face. “At least I’m not the one hallucinating rainbows, Eustass-ya.”
Kid snaps his head over to Law, his eyes widening with feigned offense. “Rainbows? What rainbows? I’m not seeing shit!” He says, though the way his gaze darts around the beach suggests otherwise.
Luffy chuckles, the sound as warm as the setting sun. “Oh, you’re totally seeing them. You guys just had some of my special blends. It’s like a pirate’s version of a spa day. Gets all the tension out, makes you feel like you’re on cloud nine, and you might see a few things that aren’t there, but hey, that’s just the fun of it!” He laughs again.
Kid can’t help but grin back, feeling the effects of the mysterious blends seeping into his bones. “Yeah, well, I guess I can’t argue with that. It’s definitely better than just laying around waiting for our log poses to reset. But what’s with all these fancy plant names, Strawhat? You moonlighting as a botanist now?”
Luffy’s smile widens, showing teeth as white as the beach sand. “Nah, just picked up a few things along the way. Plus, you never know when a little herbal remedy might come in handy.”
The three of them lay there in companionable silence for a while, the gentle sound of the waves lulling them into a state of relaxation. It’s moments like these that are rare in the life of a pirate, moments where the horizon isn’t just a promise of adventure, but a canvas for the most beautiful painting the world could ever offer. The air is thick with the scent of the smoked blends, a strange bouquet that somehow complements the salty sea breeze.
They lay there for might’ve been 30 minutes, maybe two hours, maybe even five before they heard footsteps, soon accompanied by the sound of someone tripping and, and cursing coming from the Islands jungle. The three didn’t bother looking over, the Voice sounded too familiar to be any threat. Plus, they were all too busy trying to figure out if the palm trees were doing the macarena.
Killer stumbled out of the forest, trying to rip his boot clad foot from vines and roots that had decided to become his personal dance partners. He looked over at the trio on the beach, his eyes squinting through the smoke-filled haze. "Cap'n, what the hell are you all doing out here?" He called out, his voice a mix of amusement and confusion.
Kid couldn't help but laugh, the sound echoing through the beach. "Just enjoying a little...spa treatment, courtesy of our dear friend here." He nodded towards Luffy, who had his eyes closed, a serene smile on his face as if he could hear the whispers of the ocean in his soul.
Killer made his way over, his foot finally free from the clutches of the jungle. He took one whiff of the air and raised an eyebrow. "Is that what I think it is?" He looked at the trio, his curiosity piqued.
“It’s a lot more than what you think it is.” Law murmured, his eyes still closed, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. His body felt as if it had been dipped in warm honey, sticky sweet and heavy. “Strawhat’s been playing alchemist with his plants.”
Killer’s eyes narrowed as he took in the scene, the smoke, the smiles, and the lack of any actual fighting or chaos. “Alright, I’ll bite. What’s in that shit?” He nodded towards the smoldering blend in Luffy’s hand, and the little tin tray and box beside his head filled with various joint making stuff, and already rolled joint, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Luffy cracks his eyes open, turning his head to look at the tin tray and box, staying silent for a few seconds to answer, blinking sluggishly before he takes a deep breath. “Lavender, Calendula, Marshmallow Root, Weed, Thyme, Mugwort, Hops, Red raspberry leafs, Rose petals, White sage, Blue Lotus, Chamomile, and Chrysanthemum… not all mixed together though, some of them are but not all.”
Killer stares at him for a moment before shaking his head and sitting down next to them. "You guys are crazy." He says with a smirk, though he doesn’t seem entirely against the idea. "What's it do to ya?"
“Well, it’s a whole bunch of hallucinogen— hallucinogenic mixed with calm herbs and some herbs to help with Health.” Luffy says, his words still a bit slurred as he tries to sit up, but Law still laying on his arm, so he gives up. “It’s like a pirate’s version of tea time, only with more...” he waves his hand in the air, searching for the right word, “...vibes!”
Killer nods, his curiosity now peaked. “I’ve had my fair share of strange things, I might give it a go if it’s not going to turn me into a walking plant or something.” He says, leaning back on his arms and watching the smoke dance in the air.
“It might not turn you into a plant, but it might make you see fuckin’ unicorns.” Kid mumbled, his eyes still glued to the horizon, where he was pretty sure he saw a mermaid riding a dolphin.
Killer glanced over at the box and picked up one of the rolled joints, eyeing it with a mix of skepticism and intrigue. “You guys are insane, but I can’t say I’m not curious,” he said, placing it between his lips and reaching for a lighter that was also in the box to light it up. He took a deep drag and held the smoke in his lungs before letting it out in a slow exhale.
As the smoke twirled around his head, a strange sense of euphoria began to seep into his body. He felt his muscles uncoil and his mind start to float away on a cloud of goodwill. “Well, I’ll be damned,” he murmured, his voice softer than usual. “It’s like someone’s playing a lullaby for my soul.”
Luffy chuckled at Killer’s reaction, his eyes still glued to the horizon. “Told ya, it’s the good stuff. Nothing like a bit of natural relaxation after a long day of pirating!”
The three of them, along with the new addition of Killer, lay there watching the sun dip lower, painting the sky in a fiery palette of reds, oranges, and pinks. The normally vibrant and energetic atmosphere between them had turned mellow and peaceful, the tension of their rivalries temporarily forgotten.
