Chapter 5
“Why the fuck did you insist on waiting for Strawhat?” Kid grouches, “All of our crews have already wandered off and fucked off without us.”
Law hums, his eyes locked onto the Thousand sunny, as they wait for Luffy. “I wanted to see your reaction firsthand.” He says with a knowing smirk, his hand tugging at the edge of his hat.
Kid glances over, raising an eyebrow, “What reaction?” He asks, his voice edged with curiosity.
“You’ll see.” Law replies cryptically, his smirk deepening as he watches the Thousand Sunny. The ship's Jolly Roger, a skull with a straw hat, flutters in the breeze as the sound of a door opening and closing echoes through the dock.
“Strawhat-ya?” Law calls out, his voice carrying across the bustling dock.
“I’m coming! I’m coming! I’m coming! I’m coming!” Luffy’s voice cherries down from the ship, accompanied by the sounds of something click clack.
And then Luffy appears at the top of the gangway, hopping on 1 foot to try to class her heel as she makes her way down.
And Kids jaw drops.
Because Luffy, Monkey D. Luffy is a girl!
Monkey D. Luffy Is very very very very obviously a girl!
Monkey D. Luffy Is very very very very obviously a girl dressed in a dress that was made out of a fine silk and mesh spaghetti strap mini dress, the dress was a skin tight fine silk dress showing off her curbs and clinging to her body in the best way. The dress had Tiger print mesh over it, the Tiger print cutting diagonal to show off half of the black part of the dress underneath while the other half it the Tiger print, with The Tiger print going further down in the black part of the dress making a little flowy tail that fluttered in the wind. The dress was short, stopping right at her mid thigh. She had black and Orange kitten heels to match her dress, with bangle bracelets, rings, and a necklace. She was still wearing her iconic straw hat, but it didn’t make her outfit any less feminine. She even put on makeup. A gradient of glittery dark brown to a glittery burnt orange eyeshadow on her lids, eyeliner, mascara, light blush, and a nude lipstick with lipgloss over top of it. Her short curly hair framing her face.
Luffy looked like she just stepped off the pages of a pirate magazine.
"What the fuck?" Kid whispers under his breath, his eyes wide with shock as he takes in Luffy's appearance.
“Traffy! Help me get this damn heel on!” Luffy called out at Law, as she still tried to balance on feet, still trying to clap the heel’s clasp shut. She looked absolutely radiant, with not a care in the world.
Law smirks as he saunters over to her, “Let me help you, Strawhat-ya.” He says, reaching out to assist her.
Kid’s brain had short circuited, blue screen, and rebooted several times trying to process the sight before him. Monkey D. Luffy, the legendary pirate he’d heard about, the one who had the audacity to declare herself the next Pirate King, was a girl? And not just any girl, but one dressed to the nines in a dress that left absolutely no room for doubt. He stared, his hand slowly rising to cover his gaping mouth, his eyes darting from her stunning outfit to her iconic straw hat and back again.
Kid watched as Luffy huffed in frustration as she reached the bottom of the gangway, crossing her arms over her chest and holding out her foot to Law, Who grabbed her ankle without hesitation and clasped the heel of her shoe with surprising gentleness.
“Thanks, Traffy!” Luffy grinned up at him, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Law chuckled, giving her ankle a gentle squeeze before releasing it. “You’re welcome, Strawhat-ya. Now come on, all three of our crews have already started without us. The party’s this way.” He gestured towards the bustling town square of Wano, where the celebrations were in full swing. The vibrant colors of the decorations and the mouth-watering smells of the festival food filled the air.
SUMMARY^1: Law assists Luffy with her shoe, showing no signs of surprise at her gender reveal. Despite Kid's astonishment, Luffy remains unfazed by his reaction, eagerly looking forward to the Wano festivities.
Kid's eyes followed Luffy as she bobbed along next to Law, his thoughts racing. He'd always known Luffy was a force to be reckoned with, but he hadn't been prepared for this revelation. He tried to remember if there had been any hints, any clues, but she'd always been so androgynous, it was easy to assume she was a guy. And now, here she was, looking like she could grace the cover of any pirate magazine, and his brain was struggling to catch up.
And Law? Law was acting like this was completely normal, acting like he already knew Luffy was a girl. Which, to be fair, he probably did. The sneaky bastard had probably had a good laugh about this whole situation for weeks now. But Kid, he was thrown off his game. He'd always thought Luffy was a guy, and now, well, she was definitely not a guy. She was a girl, a really, really, ridiculously good-looking girl. And she was the same person who'd fought alongside him, who'd saved his ass more times than he could count.
He felt his cheeks heat up as he followed the two of them into the party. The crowd parted like the Red Sea when they saw the notorious pirate captains approaching. The Strawhat Pirates were already there, mingling with the locals and indulging in the festivities. Zoro gave them a nod, his usual stoic expression unchanged. Nami shot them a wink, her own attire a dazzling display of gold and emeralds that made her look like a pirate queen herself.
Usopp was the first to crack a smile when he spotted Luffy. "Looking good, Captain!" He shouted over the din, causing a few heads to turn. Sanji's nose began to bleed as he took in the sight of Luffy, his eyes turning into heart shapes. "M-M-Miss Luffy-Swan, you're too much!" He stuttered, his usual suave demeanor faltering.
Chopper, in his usual form, bobbed his head up and down excitedly. "Konnichiwa, Luffy!" He greeted, not even batting an eye. After all, he'd known since the day he joined the Strawhat Pirates.
Nami saunters over, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "So, what do you think, Eustass?" She says, gesturing to Luffy with a smug grin. "Still think she's 'just a guy'?"
Kid's jaw snaps shut with an audible click as he processes Nami's words. "What the fuck, Nami?" He sputters, his eyes wide. "You knew too?"
Nami just laughs, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Of course we knew, you dumbass. It's not like she's been hiding it or anything. She just doesn't care what you call her."
Chopper nods in agreement, his cheeks a bright shade of pink. "Yeah, Luffy's always been Luffy to us, no matter what she's wearing."
Kid's head was spinning, and he couldn't help but stare as Luffy, with all the grace of a seasoned fashion model, navigated the crowded square. She was like a beacon of beauty and power among the chaos, her laughter ringing out as she chatted with the townsfolk and her crew. He'd never seen anyone so comfortable in their own skin, so unbothered by the expectations of others.
The heart Pirates, noticing the tension, exchanged knowing glances and chuckled among themselves. They'd seen this reaction before, but they knew their captain Law would handle it with his usual cool demeanor. Law, for his part, was enjoying the show, his smug smile never faltering as he watched Kid try to wrap his head around the revelation.
As they approached the heart of the festivities, Luffy turned to them with a grin, her eyes shimmering with excitement. "Isn't this amazing? The whole town's celebrating because of us!" She shouted over the din of music and laughter. "We're heroes!"
Kid could only nod dumbly, his eyes still glued to Luffy's figure.
And suddenly Luffy stopped in her track, her eyes lighting up like fireworks as she wrapped her finger, her small, small fingers around Kids forearm, leaning into his personal space, and yeah, her breasts pressing against his arm as she points at something in a vendors tents. “Look, jaggy, they made little wooden toy figures of mine, Traffy’s and yours ships!”
Kid’s eyes snapped back to her, the heat in his cheeks flaming even higher. He was torn between looking at her face and looking at her chest, and the fact that she was calling him jaggy, the nickname was nothing new, she’d called him back since the day they met almost 3 years ago, but for some reason now, now is was messing with his head. But he managed to follow her gaze and sure enough, there were miniature replicas of the Thousand Sunny, the Polar Tang, and the Victoria Punk. Wirh the vendor busy carving away at a new ship, his knife moving with surprising skill.
"Ahoy, Captain Strawhat!" The vendor called out, noticing Luffy’s excitement. "Lookin' for somethin' to remember our victory by?"
Luffy let go of Kids arm and scampered up to the vendor, her kitten heels clicking on the cobblestone. "Yes, please!" She exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with childlike enthusiasm. "One of each!"
The vendor chuckled, a knowing smile playing on his face as he handed over the wooden figures. "Aye, aye, Captain! Your ship looks just as fierce in miniature!" He said, pocketing the berries she tossed at him.
Luffy took the wooden ships, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she examined them closely. "Thanks, mister!" She said cheerfully, turning to show them off to Kid and Law, by holding them in the palms of her hands and holding them up to them. "Aren't they adorable?"
Kid was still trying to process the situation, his thoughts a jumbled mess. He took a step back, his eyes still glued to Luffy’s chest, before realizing what he was doing and snapped his gaze back to her face. "Y-yeah," He managed to stutter out, his voice hoarse. "They're... uh, they're pretty cool."
Law, on the other hand, was thoroughly enjoying the moment, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Indeed," He said, taking one of the ships from Luffy's hand and inspecting it with a smirk. "A fitting tribute to our alliance."
The three of them moved deeper into the festival, the crowd parting for them like a wave. The Heart Pirates and the Strawhat Pirates were already in the thick of it, their laughter and shouts mingling with the music and chatter. Luffy was the center of attention, her infectious energy drawing people to her like a magnet. She twirled and danced, her dress swirling around her as she greeted old friends and made new ones.
Kid felt like he was in a daze. The revelation that Luffy was a girl kept replaying in his mind, each time more surreal than the last. He watched as she munched on a giant meat skewer with the same enthusiasm she had for fighting. It was jarring, to say the least. He’d always seen her as a rival, a fellow captain to be respected and feared, but now, in this dress, with makeup on, she was undeniably female. And it was messing with his head in the best way possible.
“Hey, jaggy, where’s your crew?” Luffy asked, tossing the stick of the meat skewer in the trash. “I’ve seen mine and Traffy’s crews, but not yours?” She turned to him with a curious tilt of her head, her hair bouncing with the motion.
Kid blinked, realizing he’d been lost in his thoughts. “Oh, uh, they’re probably around here somewhere, probably at a bar. I’ll go find them, eventually,” he said, his voice still a little shaky.
Luffy punched him lightly on the arm, her smile never wavering. “Don’t be like that, jaggy! Let’s go find them together. I want to celebrate with everyone!”
Her touch sent a jolt through his system, and Kid nodded, still trying to get his bearings. As they weaved through the throngs of people, the smells of grilling food and the sound of clinking glasses grew stronger. The atmosphere was electric, a mix of joy and anticipation as the town of Wano reveled in their newfound freedom.
Eventually Luffy’s small, small fingers wrapped around Kid’s rest as she pulled him through the throng of people, her excitement practically bubbling over. She didn’t seem to care that she was dressed like a million berries and could probably start a riot just by walking. But that was just Luffy, always in the moment, always living life to the fullest.
Eventually they stumbled into a bar, the wooden sign above the door creaking with every beat of the bass that reverberated from within. The smell of ale and sweat filled the air, mixing with the scent of roasting meat wafting from the grill in the corner. The place was packed with rowdy pirates, all wearing broad smiles and shouting over the music.
Kid’s eyes scanned the room, looking for his crew.
Meanwhile, the kid pirates were at the very back of the bar, all sat at a circle booth, and Killer, Kid’s right-hand man, was the first to spot Kid, and the back of thr girl that was pulling him along. He nudged Heat with his elbow, getting his attention. “Hey, look, Cap'ns getting dragged around by some hot chick, and he’s allowing it… and, if I do say so myself, Cap'n looks quite… flustered.”
Heat looked over, then did a double-take, almost choking on his drink. “The fuck? Who’s that?”
Wire leaned over to get a better look. “Don’t know, but she’s definitely got Captain’s attention. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him… flustered?” He whispered to Killer, who nodded in agreement.
Gig learn forward, trying to get a better look, but none of the kid pirates could see the girls face because she was busy chatting away with some old pirate. “Who the hell is that?” He whispered to Dive, who shrugged.
“No clue, but she’s got Captain in a tailspin. I’ve never seen him like this before, it’s like he’s swallowed his own tongue and it’s tickling his throat from the inside out!”
The kid pirates whispered and laughed among themselves, watching their captain from a safe distance.
As the Kid pirates watch, Luffy finally turned to face them, her stunning features coming into view. Killer’s eyes widened in shock. “Fuck me, it’s Strawhat!” He shouted, his drink splashing onto the table. The rest of the Kid Pirates stared, their jaws dropping in unison as they took in the sight of their captain, flustered and being led around by a gorgeous girl. That is apparently Monkey D. Luffy. A pretty girl at that, a really really really really really ridiculously pretty girl. A really really really really really ridiculously gorgeous girl.
Heat nearly fell off his chair, his eyes wide as saucers as he took in the sight of Luffy dressed like a dream. “Is that... is that Luffy?” He stuttered, unable to believe his eyes.
Dive leaned in, squinting through the smoke and the crowd. “Well, I’ll be a son of a fisherman, it is!” He exclaimed, slapping his hand on the table.
Kid felt his cheeks burning, his heart racing in his chest. He tried to play it cool as he approached his crew, but Luffy beat him to the punch, waving the wooden ships in the air. “Look what I found, guys!” She called out, her voice carrying over the din of the bar.
The Kid Pirates shot to their feet, their eyes wide with shock as they took in the sight of Luffy, who was practically glowing with excitement. “Luffy?” Killer managed to get out, his voice a squeak.
“Hey, Stabby!” Luffy greeted Killer with a grin, walking closer to the booth and pulling Kid along with her.
"Luffy, you look... different," Killer said, his voice trailing off as he took in her outfit.
Luffy huffed. “Don’t tell me all of Jaggy’s crew didn’t know I was a girl!”
The bar remained in its rowdy cacophony, oblivious to the bombshell that had just been dropped.
"What?" Killer stuttered, looking at Luffy as if he'd just seen a ghost. "You're... a... girl?"
Luffy grumbled letting go of Kid’s wrist, and adjusting to her very, very, very, very feminine body with both hands. “What do you think I am?”
The Kid Pirates stared, their eyes bouncing from the wooden ships to Luffy’s face, and then to the way her dress clung to her curves, leaving absolutely no doubt. They looked at each other, and then back at Luffy, and then at their captain, who was still redder than a ripe tomato.
"Well, I'll be," Heat murmured, his eyes never leaving Luffy's form. "Who knew?"
“Everyone besides the kid Pirates apparently!” Luffy exclaimed, rolling her eyes before bursting into laughter. The sound was infectious, and soon the whole table was joining in, even though they weren’t quite sure what the joke was. “Hell, even the marines know I’m a girl.” Luffy took a seat at the table, sliding into the booth next to Kid, their thighs pressing together.
Kid remained silent, his thoughts racing. Luffy was a girl. The girl he’d fought alongside, the one who’d saved his life and had become one of his closest allies, was a girl. He couldn’t decide if he felt stupid for not realizing sooner or if he was just overwhelmed by the sheer... everything-ness of the situation.
The rest of the Kid Pirates were equally flabbergasted. Gig was the first to recover, slapping his captain on the back. "Well, shit, Strawhat! You've been holding out on us!"
The others at the table murmured in agreement, still in disbelief. Luffy just shrugged and took a swig from the bottle of sake that had been placed in front of her. "It's not like it matters, right?" She said, passing the bottle to Kid. "What matters is that we're all pirates, and we're all here to celebrate our victory!"
Kid took the bottle, his hand shaking slightly. He downed the sake, the liquid burning his throat and clearing his head. He looked at Luffy, really looked at her, and realized she was right. It didn't matter what gender she was. She was still the same Luffy who'd fought alongside him, the one who'd stood up to the world's strongest pirates without batting an eyelash.
But now she the one who can make him feel like a bumbling idiot with a single glance.
The celebration raged on, with Luffy at the center, her laughter echoing through the bar, making even the sternest pirate crack a smile. Her presence was like a warm breeze, lifting spirits and loosening the tight knots of tension that had built over the years of fighting and surviving. The Strawhat Pirates had always known her as their fearless captain, but to the rest of the world, she was now a symbol of unity and hope.
